A Method to Evaluate Information System Interoperability Based on Technical Reference Model (기술참조모델 기반의 정보시스템간의 상호운용성 평가 방법)

  • In this paper, we designed an interoperability evaluation system based on technical reference model, HanTRM (Technical Reference Model) and the information technology architecture methodology, TAProcess (Technical Architecture Process). TAProcess provides standardized procedure and methodology for the efficient installation, management and operation of information technology. HanTRM can be used as a referencial basic framework for all organizations which are starting to make technical reference model. We propose a method that utilize HanTRM and a procedure that evaluates interoperability between information systems to design interoperbility evaluation system. So, this interoperbility evaluation system will be more usefully applied to organizations.

An experimental study of the effect of mooring systems on the dynamics of a SPAR buoy-type floating offshore wind turbine

  • An experimental study of the effect of mooring systems on the dynamics of a SPAR buoy-type floating offshore wind turbine is presented. The effects of the Center of Gravity (COG), mooring line spring constant, and fairlead location on the turbine's motion in response to regular waves are investigated. Experimental results show that for a typical mooring system of a SPAR buoy-type Floating Offshore Wind Turbine (FOWT), the effect of mooring systems on the dynamics of the turbine can be considered negligible. However, the pitch decreases notably as the COG increases. The COG and spring constant of the mooring line have a negligible effect on the fairlead displacement. Numerical simulation and sensitivity analysis show that the wind turbine motion and its sensitivity to changes in the mooring system and COG are very large near resonant frequencies. The test results can be used to validate numerical simulation tools for FOWTs.

Experimental investigation of towing- and course-stability of a FPSO towed by a tug-boat with lateral motion

  • In the conventional experiment to assess the towing operations, the towing stability of the towed vessel has been evaluated under the condition without lateral motion of the tug-boat. However, the tug-boats may have a lateral force to change the direction of the towed vessel. In this study, experiments have been conducted considering unsteady conditions in the towing system. First, a towing test system in a Circular Water Channel (CWC) using the conventional experimental method is built. Second, the towing characteristics of the towed vessel are investigated using the conventional method, and they are compared with other research results and stability discriminant criteria. Third, the lateral motion of the tug-boat was modeled as a sinusoidal motion using a forced oscillation device changing frequency and amplitude. Finally, the discussion is given in terms of both towing- and course-stability of the towed vessel according to the lateral motion of the tug-boat.

  • A Military L-V-C system consists of distributed complex systems integrating Live systems working on physical wall-clock time, Virtual systems ruled by virtually pseudo realtime events on a computer, and Constructive systems only depending on the causal relationship between the continuous events. Recently many needs for L-V-C training systems are increasing in order to achieve the maximum training effects with low costs. While theoretical/logical researches or only partially interworking technologies have been proposed, there are few perfect interworking architectures for totally interoperating L-V-C systems in world-wide. In this paper, we design and develop a novel interworking architecture based on data centric middleware for the consistent global time with the same states on the entire L-V-C data and events by means of integrating the heterogeneous distributed middleware standards of each L-V-C system. In addition, simulated L-V-C systems based on real systems will be used for the efficiency and performance of the developed interworking architecture.

  • MND(Ministry of National Defense) has developed .nm AF(Ministry of National Defense Architecture Framework) to guarantee interoperability among defense information systems. Users can easily and consistently develop architecture products through MND AF. There is necessity for development if CADM(Core Architecture Data Model), which facilitate exchange, integration, and comparison for architecture data, to store architecture data from architecture products and reuse them. We developed CADM from defining entities and relationships that satisfy data requirement of each architecture product from MND AF. After we developed architecture products about MIMS(Military Intelligence Management System), and inserted these architecture data to CADM repository. we verified CADM entities and relationships through query. Through CABM which provides common data model for the whole my architectures, interoperability and integration among defense information systems ran be improved, and integrated defense information resources efficiently can be managed.

Development of a system architecture for an advanced autonomous underwater vehicle, ORCA

  • Recently, great improvements have been made in developing autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) using stateof- the-art technologies for various kinds of sophisticated underwater missions. To meet increasing demands posed on AUVs, a powerful on-board computer system and an accurate sensor system with an well-organized control system architecture are needed. In this paper, a new control system architecture is proposed for AUV, ORCA (Oceanic Reinforced Cruising Agent) which is being currently developed by Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO). The proposed architecture uses a hybrid architecture that combines a hierarchical architecture and a behavior based control architecture with an evaluator for coordinating between the architectures. This paper also proposed a sensor fusion structure based on the definition of 4 categories of sensors called grouping and 5-step data processing procedure. The development of the AUV, ORCA involving the system architecture, vehicle layout, and hardware configuration of on-board system are described.

Component Analysis of Thermally Activated Building System in Residential Buildings

  • The packaged terminal air conditioner, the typical cooling system for the residential buildings, consumes a large amount of electricity in a short period time during peak hours. In order to reduce the peak load and conserve the electricity, the thermally activated building system can be used as a secondary system to handle the partial cooling load. However, the thermally activated building system may cause condensation and under-cooling. Thus, design of both systems should be performed with careful investigation in characteristics of both systems to amplify the advantages. Since the thermally activated building system has the time-delay effect which may cause under-cooling, the system is designed to handle the base load of the building. Hence, simple simulation with EnergyPlus was performed to observe the characteristics of cooling load in residential buildings. Once the possible range of the load handling ratio of the thermally activated building system was decided, characteristics of system was analyzed in terms of hardware component and operation parameters. The hardware components were analyzed in plant and system aspects and the operation parameter was evaluated in the thermal comfort aspect. As the load handling ratio increased, the thermal comfort increased due to the lower radiant mean temperatures. Within the range of thermal comfort, the several adjustments were made in setpoint temperature and electricity consumptions of difference cases were observed to decide which components and parameters were important for designing the systems.

  • In this paper, we propose a new access control security architecture for supporting flexibility in Secure Operating Systems. By adding virtual access control system layer to the proposed security architecture, various access control models such as MAC, DAC, and RBAC can be applied to Secure Operating Systems easily. The proposed security architecture is designed to overcome the problem of Linux system's base access control system. A policy manager can compose various security models flexibly and apply them to Operating Systems dynamically. Also, the proposed architecture is composed of 3 modules such as access control enforcement, access control decision, and security control. And access control models are abstracted to hierarchy structure by virtual access control system. And, we present the notation of policy conflict and its resolution method by applying various access control model.

A Fault-Tolerant Architecture of PCI-Express Bus for Avionics Systems (항공전자 시스템을 위한 PCI-Express 버스의 결함감내 구조)

  • Avionics systems that use the PCI-Express bus unfortunately cannot use at least one I/O device if the bus fails, because the I/O device is connected to CPU through only one PCI-Express channel. This paper presents a fault-tolerant architecture of the PCI-Express bus for avionics systems, which tolerates one channel failure with help of the other redundant channel that has not been failed. In this architecture, each redundant PCI-Express channel connects a corresponding port of CPU to each switch logic of channels to provide each I/O device through a switched fault-tolerant channel. This paper includes the results of experimentation to show that the architecture detects the faulty condition in real time and switches the channel to the other redundant channel which has not been failed, when the architecture meets a failure.
