This study sets out to assess achievement of two series of publication titled "the Geography of Korea", which established itself as the most representative publication on Korea's geography. For assessment, this study selected Delphi method to survey Korean geographical professionals on the publication by requesting respondents to rate the adequacy of its: publishing system, production team organization, array of topics, target reader, classification of regions, and use of visual materials. The results showed the respondents highly appreciated the significance of the publications and generally agreed that the past publications had adequate level of: publication frequency, time allowed for writing, number of pages, selection criteria of authors, range of topics, region classification schemes. On the other hand, dissatisfaction from the respondents came from the lack of chief supervisor over each section or the whole publication. The geographers also stressed the need to enhance the publication's accessibility to the wider public by adopting easier writings and also requested diversification of visual aid design. This study also examined the difference between respondent groups by occupations and by past involvement in the publication. The result of this study can serve as a foundation to identify the desirable direction of future publications on "the Geography of Korea".
A $2{\times}3$ factorial design was used to study the impact of rearing systems, individual (I) vs. group (G) and different levels of milk/skim milk feeding (three schedules, F1, F2 and F3) on performance of crossbred (Bos indicus ${\times}$ Bos taurus) calves. Six calves (three from each sex) were taken in each group on the basis of their birth weight. All the calves were fed colostrum for three days and thereafter, were allotted to three different milk feeding schedules (F), i.e. milk fed upto 8 weeks of age (F1), milk upto 4 weeks followed by 50% (F2) and 100% (F3) replacement of milk with skim milk in the next 4 weeks. Calf starter and cereal green fodder were fed ad libitum to all the calves beginning from second week of age. A digestibility trial was conducted at 15th week of age to assess nutrient utilization during postweaning period. The digestibilty of dry matter (DM), organic matter, total carbohydrate, ether extract and crude protein (CP) were nonsignificant between the rearing systems and the feeding schedules. There was significantly higher digestibility of NDF and ADF in G than I and in F3 than F1 and F2. The concentration CP and total digestible nutrients of the diet ranged from 17.18 to 17.75% and 66.32 to 70.14%, respectively. The DM intake (kg/100 kg body weight) ranged from 1.74 to 2.14 kg during 0 to 8 weeks and 3.19 to 3.41 kg during 0 to 14 weeks of age. The effects during postweaning phase (9-14 weeks of age) showed increased performance in group housed calves compared to individually housed ones with a superior average daily gain (590 vs. 443 g) and dry matter intake (1.79 vs. 1.64 kg). Above all, replacement of milk with skim milk at 50% level after 4th week followed by complete removal after 6th week of age (F2) seemed to suit better in coping with immediate energy starvation due to sole feeding of skim milk (F3) and they performed the best under group housed system of rearing.

In this paper, the microstrip array antenna is studied to replace the parabolic antenna in the direct satellite reception. A microstrip array antenna has been used in extremely limited area, but if it is applied to practical life like a direct satellite reception antenna, we expect that it will be used in various way. First of all, if we use a microstrip array antenna for a direct satellite reception antenna, it should be guaranteed characteristics of broadband frequency. Therefore, the goal of this paper is designing technique an antenna which guarantees broadband frequency band for a direct satellite reception. In this paper, the proposed microstrip antenna is fed by orthogonal two feed lines to a rectangular patch and a sequentially rotated feeding technique is designed proposed for a good axial ratio in broadband frequency band. The rectangular patch is designed to satellite reception band, and the width and length are W=L=8.9 mm ($0.352{\lambda}o$) respectively. The antenna's ground plane has dimensions of $250{\times}250mm$. The experimental results verify that the proposed antenna had the axial ratio of above 1dB broader than that of the conventional feeding antenna. In order to verify the performance, a $8{\times}8$ array having two pairs was fabricated and tested. The maximum gain is 20.8 dB, the sidelobe level confirm less than -10 dB. It is verified by link budget calculation that C/N=6.7 dB can be obtained for domestic use if this proposed antenna is used in Koreasat reception system.

Shallow-water bathymetry survey has been conducted using high definition color images obtained at the altitude of 100 m above sea level using a drone. Shallow-water bathymetry data are one of the most important input data for the research of beach erosion problems. Especially, accurate bathymetry data within closure depth are critically important, because most of the interesting phenomena occur in the surf zone. However, it is extremely difficult to obtain accurate bathymetry data due to wave-induced currents and breaking waves in this region. Therefore, optical remote sensing technique using a small drone is considered to be attractive alternative. This paper presents the potential utilization of image processing algorithms using multi-variable linear regression applied to red, green, blue and grey band images for estimating shallow water depth using a drone with HD camera. Optical remote sensing analysis conducted at Wolpo beach showed promising results. Estimated water depths within 5 m showed correlation coefficient of 0.99 and maximum error of 0.2 m compared with water depth surveyed through manual as well as ship-board echo-sounder measurements.
At the initial stage of the underground reservoir design one should thoroughly consider surface and subsurface hydrology, hydrogeologic characteristics of aquifer system, and the function of cut - off wall because it is linked to the effective management. In this study, three dimensional finite difference model was applied to analyse the function of Ian underground reservoir at Kyungbuk Province. The steady and unsteady state conditions after construction of the underground dam were simulated through the model, and from these results the groundwater budget and the safe yield were determined. The model simulation indicates the infiltration of irrigation water to be one of the major factors of seasonal fluctuation of groundwater level. The recharge rates of irrigation water were estimated as 4.3mm/d during May and June, and 1.7mm/d during July and Agust. Groundwater recharge from the watershed area estimated to about $0.04m^3/s$, almost consistent through the year. In 1984, groundwater discharge through the transverse section of the dam was $0.002m^3/s$ and the optimum yield for two momths(July and Aguest)was $254000m^3$, however, the discharge became $0.013m^3/s$ in1993, implying the failure of cut -off function. without appropaiate of the cut - off wall, optiumum yield during the irrigaton period would be $93, 000m^3$.

Introduction: TLR-5, a member of the toll-like receptor (TLR) family, is a element of the type I transmembrane receptors, which are characterized by an intracellular signaling domain homolog to the interleukin-1 receptor. These receptors recognize microbial components, particularly bacterial flagellin. All-trans retinoic acid (atRA, tretinoin), a natural metabolite of vitamin A, acts as a growth and differentiation factor in many tissues, and is also needed for immune functions. In this study, THP-1 human macrophage-monocytes were used to examine the mechanisms by which atRA regulated the expression of TLR-5. Because the molecular mechanism underlying this regulation at the transcriptional level is also unclear, this study examined which putative transcription factors are responsible for TLR-5 expression by atRA in immune cells. Materials and Methods: This study examined whether atRA induces the expression of TLR-5 in THP-1 cells using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), and which transcription factors are involved in regulating the TLR-5 promoter in RAW264.7 cells using a reporter assay system. Western blot analysis was used to determine which signal pathway is involved in the expression of TLR-5 in atRA-treated THP-1 cells. Results: atRA at a concentration of 10 nM greatly induced the expression of TLR-5 in THP-1 cells. Human TLR-5 promoter contains three Sp-1/GC binding sites around -50 bp and two NF-kB binding sites at -380 bp and -160 bp from the transcriptional start site of the TLR-5 gene. Sp-1/GC is primarily responsible for the constitutive TLR-5 expression, and may also contribute to NF-kB at -160 bp to induce TLR-5 after atRA stimulation in THP-1 cells. The role of NF-kB in TLR-5 expression was further confirmed by inhibitor pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) experiments, which greatly reduced the TLR-5 transcription by 70-80%. Conclusion: atRA induces the expression of the human TLR-5 gene and NF-kB is a critical transcription factor for the atRA-induced expression of TLR-5. Accordingly, it is conceivable that retinoids are required for adequate innate and adaptive immune responses to agents of infectious diseases. atRA and various synthetic retinoids have been used therapeutically in human diseases, such as leukemia and other cancers due to the antiproliferative and apoptosis inducing effects of retinoids. Therefore, understanding the molecular regulatory mechanism of TLR-5 may assist in the design of alternative strategies for the treatment of infectious diseases, leukemia and cancers.

There is no doubt that advances in UAV technology have improved military performance. However, these advances require humans to adapt to new and complex operational systems. UAV has been rapidly expanding to a variety of fields such as reconnaissance, transportation, communication and aerial photographing recently. Also, with the development of UAV automation technology, one operator is able to supervisory-control multiple-UAVs. However, as the number of assigned UAV increases, the amount of information increases and this results in the workload of the operator increasing and deterioration in controlling performance. Accordingly, there is a need for a model to determine the level of overload an operator may encounter with regard to multiple-UAV but nationally this kind of research is currently lacking. Therefore, this paper provides an experimental platform for evaluating workload index effectiveness integrating multiple-UAV operational environments, GCS, and eye-tracking system followed by a limited survey of domestic and international studies of multi-UAV overload studies.
Efficiency estimation of toxicity free resistance cable experiments were conducts to understand toxicity free fire ersistance polyolefin insulation material and smoke density characteristic and combustion gas corrosion analysis. A main cause of fire-growth and generating toxic gas when it burns, should be dealt with great care in life safety design. Similar patterned fire incidents such as, Inchon Live-Hof Pub Restaurant as, Sea-land Children Resort have proven that serious loss of lives were caused by hazardous gas generated fire resistance cable materials. In this paper, Referenced documents were ASTM E662 standard test method for specific Ds genalated by solid materials. The furnace control system shall maintain the required irradiance level under steady-state condition with the chamber door closed of 2.5$\pm40.04〔w/$\textrm{cm}^2$〕for 20 min. According to the results of the smoke density analysis of NFR-8 and FR-PVC the highest decomposition flaming smoke density range of NFR-8 and FR-PVC were 25.2 to 37.5 and 51.1 respectively. Nonflaming smoke density range of NFR-8 and FR-PVC were 100.4 to 112.2 and 126.5 to 398.8. Also, the fire gases was occurred carbon monoxide and decomposition than in polyolefin due to incomplete combustion of PVC which has high content of carbon in chemical compound.
To provide a guideline for the development of a web-based sport biomechanics class in undergraduate program, thirty web sites, searched via search engines in May 2002, were analyzed intensively. In terms of requirement of log-in, only one site of 30 sites required user name and password. Seventeen(57%) sites provided the lecture note, which had various file formats such as 59% if PDF, 29% of HTML, and 12% of PPT. Fourteen(47%) sites provided the assignment and grade information on web. Eleven(37%) sites provided various resource and links which were related in sports biomechanics. Only four(13%) sites provided discussion or online digitizing or kinematic analysis program. Based on above results, a guideline for the development of a virtual classroom for college level sport biomechanics. A web-based sport biomechanics class should be developed with consideration of several functions as follows; homepage design, lecture note, measurement of class attendance, collaborative research system, and web-based data collection and analysis software for biomechanics laboratory.
