  • In this paper one introduces a method of multiscale modelling called collection of dynamical systems with dimensional reduction. The method is suggested to be an appropriate approach to theoretical modelling of phenomena in mechanics of materials having in mind especially dynamics of processes. Within this method one formalizes scale of averaging of processes during modelling. To this end a collection of dynamical systems is distinguished within an elementary dynamical system. One introduces a dimensional reduction procedure which is designed to be a method of transition between various scales. In order to consider continuum models as obtained by means of the dimensional reduction one introduces continuum with finite-dimensional fields. Owing to geometrical elements associated with the elementary dynamical system we can formalize scale of averaging within continuum mechanics approach. In general presented here approach is viewed as a continuation of the rational mechanics.

  • The paper presents functional modelling and its application for diagnosis in nuclear power plants. Functional modelling is defined and its relevance for coping with the complexity of diagnosis in large scale systems like nuclear plants is explained. The diagnosis task is analyzed and it is demonstrated that the levels of abstraction in models for diagnosis must reflect plant knowledge about goals and functions which is represented in functional modelling. Multilevel flow modelling (MFM), which is a method for functional modelling, is introduced briefly and illustrated with a cooling system example. The use of MFM for reasoning about causes and consequences is explained in detail and demonstrated using the reasoning tool, the MFMSuite. MFM applications in nuclear power systems are described by two examples: a PWR; and an FBR reactor. The PWR example show how MFM can be used to model and reason about operating modes. The FBR example illustrates how the modelling development effort can be managed by proper strategies including decomposition and reuse.

  • This paper describes a modelling method for SCR(selective catalystic reduction) system in refuse incineration plant. We consider the SCR system as a single input and single output system. For modelling the SCR system, an auto regressive exogeneous(ARX) modelling method is used. In this case, we should design the white noise input for modelling and put it on the system as an input$(NH_3)$, and take an outlet NOx as an output. From these two relations, we design the ARX model with 45 second delay time and transform to a discrete system with sampling time of 0.5 second. Using the obtained SCR model, we verify that the outlet NOx is deeply related with stoker`s moving in boiler of refuse incineration plant.

  • Fuzzy modelling is a useful method when the variation of plant dynamics is large. In the fuzzy modelling by parameter identification, a new method is proposed in the part of premise parameters identification and in expanding MISO system into MIMO system. Using the proposed method, a fuzzy model of the drum boiler of the thermal power plant can be derived. In addition, feedwater control of the drum by fuzzy controller using the fuzzy model, is simulated.

  • This paper represents the computer application techniques of initial and modification machining for dies with 3-dimensional scluptured surfaces. All procedures from die design to die machining and measurement are covered. The component of modelling is data management and modification (extrapolation and smoothing), surface modelling, and nc program preparation. Also this paper introduces the utility for successful and efficient operation of system such as map generation, data communication, tool path verification, contour map generation, graphic processing of extrapolation and smoothing results, and CAD/CAM system interface. Examples are given to illustrate the modelling.

  • This paper introduces a geometric modelling system adopted in a newly developed preprocessor for finite element analysis of three dimensional structures. The formulation is characterized by hierarchical construction of structural model which consists of control points, curves, surfaces and solids. Various surface and solid modeling schemes based on blending functions and boundary representation are systematized for finite element mesh generation. The modeling system is integrated with model synthesis and operations which facilitate modelling of complex structures.

  • A structural modelling for study on dynamic characteristics of tapered composite aircraft wings in the form of thin-walled beam is presented. The proposed structural model includes effects of transverse shear flexibility exhibited by the advanced composite materials and warping restraint characterizing elastic anisotropy and induced structural couplings. The complex effects of these factors could have a role in more efficient analysis on those structural models.

  • This study, experimentally, aims at presenting the methodology to construct an efficient digital terrain by com-paring and analyzing the accuracy among the existing Digital Terrain Models, develope 3-D fractal terrain model-ling program by applying digital algorithm of fractal geometry and using turbo pascal, and lastly perform basic research on constructing GSIS-based 3-D fractal terrain modelling system by integrating a PC-based GSIS Pack-age and the 3-D fractal terrain modelling program developed by this paper. The results are as follows -First, the method to produce TIN(Triangulated Irregular Network) by the combination of point data and line data was showed as an alternative to construct efficient Digital Terrain Model. Second, developing GSIS-based 3-D fractal terrain modelling system, applying fractal geometry is the basic research in developing the new terrain modelling method. also, this study presented the possibility of 3-D terrain modelling with the use of fractal.

  • This paper aims at presenting the state of the art, the recent progress, and the perspective for the future, in the modelling of two-phase flow in the horizontal legs of a PWR. All phenomena relevant for safety analysis are listed first. The selection of the modelling approach for system codes is then discussed, including the number of fluids or fields, the space and time resolution, and the use of flow regime maps. The classical two-fluid six-equation one-pressure model as it is implemented in the CATHARE code is then presented and its properties are described. It is shown that the axial effects of gravity forces may be correctly taken into account even in the case of change of the cross section area or of the pipe orientation. It is also shown that it can predict both fluvial and torrential flow with a possible hydraulic jump. Since phase stratification plays a dominant role, the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability and the stability of bubbly flow regime are discussed. A transition criterion based on a stability analysis of shallow water waves may be used to predict the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. Recent experimental data obtained in the METERO test facility are analysed to model the transition from a bubbly to stratified flow regime. Finally, perspectives for further improvement of the modelling are drawn including dynamic modelling of turbulence and interfacial area and multi-field models.

  • In this paper, the PSCAD/EMTDC modeling of JeJu AC power system with wind farms will be discussed. And the modelling of the synchronous generator, exciter, governor will also be defined in the JeJu power system by using the PSCAD/EMTDC. At the same time the fault analysis and the power flow analysis in JeJu AC power system are presented to demonstrate the JeJu AC power system can perfectly simulate the real JeJu power system function. Through the simulation using PSCAD/EMTDC we have gained the same results compared with the results accomplished by the PSS/E. so the validity of the modelling for the JeJu power system by using PSCAD/EMTDC is confirmed.
