  • In this research, we focused on the development of cy3 dye with high thermal stability and good solubility for LCD color filter. Cy3 dyes were prepared through the synthetic procedure of two steps. The synthesized cy3 dyes were characterized by using NMR, FT-IR, UV/Vis spectroscopy, and TGA. These cy3 dyes showed maximum absorption wave length (${\lambda}_{max}$) in the range of 549~555 nm in UV/Vis spectrum. And we confirmed that solubility characteristics and thermal stability of cy3 dyes were dependent on the structure of counter cation. Cy3 dyes with methyl counter cation and ethyl counter cation have good solubility in organic solvents such as chloroform, ethanol, and PGME. Moreover, Cy3 dye with ethyl counter cation gave excellent thermal stability in TGA thermograms. And Cy3 dye with ethyl counter cation showed good result in photoresist film test.

  • A new di-N-cyanoethylated 14-membered tetraaza macrocycle 1,8-bis(2-cyanoethyl)-3,5,7,7,10,12,14,14-octamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane $(L^2)$ and its nickel(II) complex $[NiL^2(OAc)]^+$ have been prepared. The square-planar complex $[NiL^2](C IO_4)_2$ can be prepared by addition of $HClO_4$ to a hot aqueous solution of $[NiL^2(OAc)]^+$ The Ni-N (tertiary amino group) bond distances $(2.008{\AA})$ of $[NiL^2](C IO_4)_2$ are relatively long, and the complex exhibits a d-d transition band at unusually long wavelength (ca. 515 nm). The complex $[NiL^2](C IO_4)_2$ rapidly reacts with acetate ion or ethylenediamine (en) to produce $[NiL^2(OAc)]^+$ or [Ni(en)_3]^{2+}$, respectively, and is readily decomposed in NaOH (0.01 M) solution. The chemical properties of $[NiL^2]^{2+}$ as well as its synthetic procedure are quite different from those for other related 14-membered tetraaza macrocyclic complexes. Effects of the N-cyanoethyl and C-methyl groups on the properties of $L^2$.

  • The Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data are considered to contain the greatest amount of information among various microwave techniques developed for measuring ocean variables from aircraft or satellites. They have the potential of measuring wavelength, wave direction and wave height of the ocean waves. But, it is difficult to retrieve significant ocean wave heights and surface current from conventional SAR data, since the imaging mechanism of ocean waves by a SAR is determined by the three basic modulation processes arise through the tilt modulation, hydrodynamic modulation and velocity bunching which are poorly known functions. Along-Track Interferometric (ATI) SAR systems can directly detect the Doppler shift associated with each pixel of a SAR image and have been used to estimate wave fields and surface currents. However, the Doppler shift is not simply proportional to the component of the mean surface current. It includes also contributions associated with the phase velocity of the Brags waves and orbital motions of all ocean waves that are longer than Brags waves. In this paper, we have developed a new method for extracting the surface current vector using multiple-frequency (L- & C-band) ATI SAR data, and have generated surface wave height information.

  • This study developed an approach for improving Carrier-phase Differential Global Positioning System (CDGPS) based realtime satellite relative navigation by applying laser baseline measurement data. The robustness against the space operational environment was considered, and a Synthetic Wavelength Interferometer (SWI) algorithm based on a femtosecond laser measurement model was developed. The phase differences between two laser wavelengths were combined to measure precise distance. Generated laser data were used to improve estimation accuracy for the float ambiguity of CDGPS data. Relative navigation simulations in real-time were performed using the extended Kalman filter algorithm. The GPS and laser-combined relative navigation accuracy was compared with GPS-only relative navigation solutions to determine the impact of laser data on relative navigation. In numerical simulations, the success rate of integer ambiguity resolution increased when laser data was added to GPS data. The relative navigational errors also improved five-fold and two-fold, relative to the GPS-only error, for 250 m and 5 km initial relative distances, respectively. The methodology developed in this study is suitable for application to future satellite formation-flying missions.

  • The structural analysis of polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) and characterization of the hydrolytic degradation products after acid hydrolysis were performed using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Mass spectra of the PTT samples were analyzed using a self-calibration method as well as an internal calibration method with standard materials of known masses. PTT structures constituting the samples were determined from the analyses of the spectra, and their relative compositions were estimated. The MALDI-TOF mass spectra of the acid-hydrolyzed PTT sample showed three main series of oligomer products with different end groups in accordance with the hydrolysis schemes. From the spectra of both $Na^+$ and $K^+$ adducts, it was concluded that the PTT samples have higher affinity for $Na^+$ compared with $K^+$ and therefore show higher ionization efficiency with sodium ions when dithranol is used as a matrix. Two different wavelength laser beams ($\lambda$ = 337 nm and 355 nm) were tested and it was observed that the 355 nm beam was more efficient in obtaining the MALDI spectra of PTT using dithranol as a matrix under our experimental conditions.

  • When turbulent motions perturb magnetic field lines and produce magnetic fluctuations, the perturbations leave imprints of turbulence statistics on magnetic field. Observation of synchrotron radiation is one of the easiest ways to study turbulent magnetic field. Therefore, we study statistical properties of synchrotron polarization emitted from media with magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence, using both synthetic and MHD turbulence simulation data. First, we obtain the spatial spectrum and its derivative with respect to wavelength of synchrotron polarization arising from both synchrotron radiation and Faraday rotation. The study of spatial spectrum shows how the spectrum is affected by Faraday rotation and how we can recover the statistics of underlying turbulent magnetic field as well as turbulent density of electrons from interferometric observations that incorporate the effects of noise and finite telescopic beam size. Second, we study quadrupole ratio to quantitatively describe the degree of anisotropy introduced by magnetic field in the presence of MHD turbulence. We consider the case that the synchrotron emission and Faraday rotation are spatially separated, as well as the situation that the sources of the synchrotron radiation and thermal electrons causing Faraday rotation exist in the same region. In this study, we demonstrate that the spectrum and quadrupole ratio of synchrotron polarization can be very informative tools to get detailed information about the statistical properties of MHD turbulence from radio observations of diffuse synchrotron polarization.

  • In order to produce black disperse dye which has high heat resistance and depth color for polyester(PET), an orange disperse dye was designed and synthesized with pyridine based derivatives to get high heat resistance. Disperse blue dye adopts heterocycles structure for high molar extinction coefficient and long wavelength absorption. Synthesized disperse dye is micronized to an particle size of $0.7{\mu}m$. The mixing condition for black color using commercial disperse violet 93 is blue dye 30%, red dye 21%, and orange dye 21%, respectively. Dyed PET fabric with synthesized dye has quiet good color fastness to sublimation(grade 3-4) and has excellent rubbing, washing and light fastness grade 4-5.

  • Nano-sized $TiO_2$ particles were produced by a premixed flame aerosol reactor, and they were immobilized on a mesh-type substrate in form of particulate film. The reactor made it possible maintaining the original particulate characteristics determined in the flame synthetic process. The particulate morphology and crystalline phase were not changed until the particulate were finally coated on the substrate, which resulted in the better performance of the photocatalytic conversion of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the ultraviolet $(UV)-TiO_2$ system. In the flame aerosol reactor, the various specific surface areas and the anatase weight fractions of the synthesized particles were obtained by manipulating the parameters in the combustion process. The performance of the $TiO_2$ particulate films was evaluated for the destruction of the VOCs under the various UV irradiation conditions. The decomposition rates of benzene and formaldehyde under the irradiation of UV-C of 254 nm in wavelength were evaluated to check the performance of $TiO_2$ film layer to be applied in air quality control system.

  • In precision length measurements using optical interferometry based on homodyne or heterodyne principles, it is crucial to have frequency-stabilized monochromatic light sources. To the end, we investigate the possibility of utilizing the optical comb constituted by ultrashort femtosecond pulse lasers generated from a gain medium of titanium-doped aluminium oxide $(Ti:Al_2O_3)$. The optical comb is stabilized by locking to the caesium atomic clock, which allows all the modes of the comb to maintain an extremely high level of frequency stabilization to precision of one part in $10^{16}$. Then, high precision length measurements are realized by extracting a single or group of particularly wanted optical frequency components or by adopting a third-party light source locked to the comb. Required measurement system setup will be presented in detail along with experimental results.

  • In this study, we successfully synthesized copper oxide (Cu2O) particles through a hydrothermal method at a relatively low temperature (150℃). The synthesis involved the precise control of molar concentrations of NaOH. Notably, Cu2O particles were effectively synthesized when NaOH concentrations of 0.15 M and 0.20 M were utilized. While attempts were made at different molar concentrations, the synthesis of pure Cu2O particles was only achieved at concentrations of 0.15 M and 0.20 M. In this experimental investigation, Cu2O synthesized under these specific conditions exhibited absorption characteristics within the wavelength range of 640 to 570 nm, consistently exhibiting a band gap energy of 1.9 eV. These Cu2O particles, characterized by their small band gap energy and straightforward synthetic method, hold significant promise for various applications including semiconductors and solar cells.
