Radiolytic Synthesis of Ag-Loaded Polystyrene(Ag-PS) Nanoparticles and Their Antimicrobial Efficiency Against Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniase

  • Ag nanoparticles were distributed onto polystyrene nanoparticle (PS-Ag) beads using two synthetic methodologies. In the first methodology, polystyrene (PS) beads were prepared via emulsion polymerization, with Ag nanoparticles subsequently loaded onto the surface of the PS beads. The polymerization of styrene was radiolytically induced in an ethanol (EtOH)/water medium, generating PS beads. Subsequently, Ag nanoparticles were loaded onto the PS beads via the reduction of Ag ions. The results from the morphological studies, using field emission transmission electron microscopy (FE-TEM), reveal the PS particles were spherical and nanosized, and the average size of the PS spherical particles decreased with increasing volume % of water in the polymerization medium. The size of the PS spherical particles increases with increasing radiation dose for the polymerization. Also, the amount of Ag nanoparticle loading could be increased by increasing the irradiation dose for the reduction of the Ag ions. In the second methodology, the polymerization of styrene and reduction of Ag ions were simultaneously performed by irradiating a solution containing styrene and Ag ions in an EtOH/water medium. Interestingly, the Ag nanoparticles were preferentially homogeneously distributed within the PS particles (not on the surface of the PS particles). Thus, Ag nanoparticles were distributed onto the surface of the PS particles using the first approach, but into the PS clusters of the particles via the second. The antimicrobial efficiency of a cloth coated with the Ag-PS composite nanoparticles was tested against bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniase, for 100 water washing cycles.

Alum 주입 메쉬 침지 여과분리형 생물반응조의 운전 특성과 인 제거 (Phosphorus Removal and Operating Performance of Mesh Filtration Bio-reactor with the Addition of Alum)

  • Considering the characteristics of a filtration bio-reactor equipped with a mesh filter module which can effectively maintain high concentration of biomass and enhanced solid-liquid separation performance, the hybrid process of filtration bio-reactor combined with coagulation was investigated to get improved filtration characteristics as well as water quality in this work. Two bio-reactors (Run-1 & Run-2) were operated under the following conditions: working volume of 25 L, continuous loading of a synthetic wastewater (BOD: 200 mg/L, T-N: 50 mg/L, T-P: 5 mg/L), where an appropriate amount of alum ($Al_2(SO_4)_3{\cdot}18H_2O$) was added once a day into the reactor (Run-2). In the system without using a alum (Run-1), the clogging of mesh filter module was observed two times through 85 days of whole operation. Meanwhile, the filter module did not clog even at higher MLSS concentration (6,000~12,000 mg/L) and the stable filtration (0.7 mid) was continued in the case of using a alum. Due to the stable formation of cake layers, BOD and SS were shown below 6 and 3 mg/L, respectively. T-P and pH of the effluent were changed because of the intermittent addition of the alum. In the case of Al/P=2.5, the average T-P removal efficiency per day was 85.2% and the average T-P concentration of the effluent was 0.3 mg/L. However, the removal efficiency of phosphate was influenced by pH in the reactor.

부직포 여과막 생물반응조의 혐기성 폐수처리에 관한 기초연구 (A Basic Study on the Anaerobic Wastewater Treatment using Nonwoven Fabric Filter Bioreactor)

  • In the nonwoven fabric filter bioreactor (NFBR), both the construction and the operation costs could be saved because a high concentration of microorganism can be maintained in the reactor as in the membrane bioreactor. However, the NFBR process has been investigated only under aerobic and/or anoxic conditions, In this research, a basic anaerobic treatment experiment was performed at $35^{\circ}C$ by feeding an airtight NFBR with a concentrated synthetic organic wastewater. The organic loading rate (OLR) of the NFBR was increased stepwise from $0.25kg\;COD/m^3-day$ to $0.77kg\;COD/m^3-day$ by gradually decreasing the hydraulic retention time from 20 days to 13 days. The results of the research showed that the best COD removal efficiency achieved at the OLR of $0.67kg\;COD/m^3-day$ with a value of 99.3%. The methane content of the produced gas was highest with a value of 61.2% at the OLR of $0.33g\;COD/m^3-day$. The highest methane production rate was $0.89g\;COD/m^3-day$ at the same OLR. The operation was terminated at the OLR of $0.77kg\;COD/m^3-day$ because of the deterioration in COD removal efficiency, gas production rate, and the methane content of the gas. Further researches are recommended for the NFBR to be employed for anaerobic treatment of organic wastewaters.

충전상(充塡床) 호기성(好氣性) 생물막공법(生物膜工法)의 반응속도론(反應速度論)에 관한 연구(研究) (A Study on the Kinetics of a Pasked Bed Aerobic Biofilm Rrocess)

  • 본(本) 연구(硏究)의 목적(目的)은 충전상(充塡床) 호기성(好氣性) 생물막공법(生物膜工法)의 반응속도론(反應速度論)을 구명(究明)하는 것으로서, 폭기(曝氣)되는 충전상(充塡床) 반응조(反應槽)에 합성폐수(合成廢水)를 주입(注入)함으로써 실험(實驗)이 수행(遂行)되었다. 유리구슬을 매질(媒質)로 채운 반응조(反應槽)의 공칭체류시간(公稱滯留時間)은 5시간(時間)이었으며, 반응조내(反應槽內)에서의 흐름형태는 소금용액을 사용한 추적자(追跡子) 실험(實驗) 결과(結果) 완전혼합형(完全混合形)이었음이 알려졌다. 연구결과(硏究結果)에 따르면 유기물(有機物) 용적부하(容積負荷)가 증가함에 따라 미생물막(微生物膜)의 성장(成長)에 의하여 반응구내(反應構內)에서의 미생물량(微生物量)이 증가함으로 F/M는 거의 일정(一定)한 값으로 유지(維持)되었다. 또한 충전상(充塡床) 호기성(好氣性) 생물막공법(生物膜工法)이 슬러지반송(返送)이 있는 완전혼합(完全混合) 활성(活性)슬러지 공법(工法)의 반응속도론(反應速度論)에 의하여 해석될 수 있음이 구명(究明)되었다.

고온공정에서 은교환 제올라이트 및 TEDA 첨착활성탄의 유기요오드 제거성능 (Removal Efficiency of Organic Iodide on Silver Ion-Exchanged Zeolite and TEDA-AC at High Temperature Process)

  • 원자력시설에서 방사성요오드 제거용으로 사용되는 TEDA 침착활성탄의 고온공정에서의 메틸요오드의 제거성능을 은이온제올라이트(AgX)와 상호 비교하였다. $30^{\circ}C~400^{\circ}C$ 온도범위에서 온도에 따른 메틸요오드의 흡착량 및 탈착후 잔존량을 측정한 결과, 비첨착활성탄의 흡착성능은 온도가 증가함에 따라 급격히 감소하지만 TEDA 침착활성탄의 흡착성능은 $100^{\circ}C$부근에서도 AgX와 거의 유사한 값을 나타내었고, 탈착후 잔존량은 $250^{\circ}C$까지도 비침착활성탄에 비하여 매우 높은 값을 유지하였다. 또한 $100^{\circ}C$ 이상의 고온공정에서 AgX 및 TEDA 침착활성탄을 충전한 고정층 파괴특성을 상호 비교하였으며, 반응 생성기체의 분석으로부터 AgX에 의한 메틸요오드 제거 메커니즘을 제안하였다.

합성가스(Reforming gas)를 이용한 멀티채널 CDPF의 재생 특성 연구 (Studies on Reforming Gas Assisted Regeneration of Multi-channel Catalyzed DPF)

  • Diesel particulate filter (DPF) systems are being used to reduce the particulate matter emission of diesel vehicles. The DPF should be regenerated after certain driving hours or distance to eliminate soot in the filter. The most widely used method is active regeneration with oxygen at $550{\sim}650^{\circ}C$. Syngas (synthetic gas) can be used to lower the regeneration temperature of Catalyzed DPF (CDPF). The syngas is formed by fuel reforming process of CPOx (Catalytic Partial Oxidation) at specific engine condition (1500rpm, 2bar) using 1wt.% $Rh/CeO_2-ZrO_2$ catalyst. The oxidation characteristics of PM with syngas supplied to filter were studied using partial flow system that can control temperature and flow rate independently. The filter is coated with washcoat loading of $25g/ft^3$ $Pt/Al_2O_3-CeO_2$, and multi-channel CDPF (MC-CDPF) was used. The filter regeneration experiments were performed to investigate the effect of syngas exothermic reaction on soot oxidation in the filter. For this purpose, before oxidation experiment, PM was collected about 8g/L to the filter at engine condition of 1500rpm, bmep 8bar and flow temperature of $200^{\circ}C$ Various conditions of temperature and concentration of syngas were used for the tests. Regeneration of filter started at 2% $H_2$ and CO concentration respectively and inlet temperature of $260^{\circ}C$. Filter Regeneration occurs more actively as the syngas concentration becomes higher.

항만물류서비스의 품질과 고객만족에 관한 연구 -부산.광양항의 해운선사를 중심으로- (An Empirical Study on the Port Logistics Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction -With a Focus on the Shipping Companies of Busan and Gwangyang Ports-)

  • Recently the port logistics service has been recognized as a important function of the international logistics, therefore, a lot of papers have been issued concerning the measurement of the service quality of that. But in spite of variety of papers, we can not find out the papers concerning the model of the synthetic customer satisfaction. And also the most of papers concerning the customer satisfaction of service quality have been focused not by cognitive evaluation of the customer, but by affective response. In this thesis, the authors are postulating the model and hypothesis to achieve the research by using the Gr$\"{o}$nroos's model. In order to research the relationship between the port logistics service quality and the customers satisfaction, we are selecting the shipping companies located in Busan and Kwangyang as purchaser and the loading and unloading companies as supplier, and the questionnaires was performed to them. In the result of the empirical study, the technical quality of the port logistics service are affecting directly on the customer satisfaction, but the functional quality are affecting not directly on the customer satisfaction. And also the customer response(affective response) has been proved that it has been exercised as a intermediate role between the port logistics service quality and the customer satisfaction. Therefore it is proved that the affective response of the customer has been exercised a crucial role in the course of supplying the port logistics service.

  • 바이오매스로부터 합성액체오일을 생산하기 위한 방법의 하나로써 Fischer-Tropsch 합성이 세계적으로 주목을 받고 있다. $C_7-C_{15}$ 파라핀의 수첨이성화 반응은 세탄넘버의 향상과 저점도, 유동점, 및 어는점 등의 저온유동특성의 개선을 위하여 디젤연료의 생산 공정에 적용된다. Fischer-Tropsch 합성으로부터 생산되는 Jet fuel 등의 상업적인 제품들은 낮은 끓는점과 유동점을 개선해야 한다. 본 연구는 합성 오일로부터 bio-jet fuel을 제조하기 위한 수첨이성화 반응용 촉매를 개발하는데 있다. 수첨이성화 반응용 백금/제올라이트 촉매의 특성을 분석하고 모델반응으로써 도데칸의 수첨이성화반응 성능을 회분식반응기에서 조사하였다.

Effects of uncertainties on seismic behaviour of optimum designed braced steel frames

  • Concentrically braced steel frames (CBFs) can be optimised during the seismic design process by using lateral loading distributions derived from the concept of uniform damage distribution. However, it is not known how such structures are affected by uncertainties. This study aims to quantify and manage the effects of structural and ground-motion uncertainty on the seismic performance of optimum and conventionally designed CBFs. Extensive nonlinear dynamic analyses are performed on 5, 10 and 15-storey frames to investigate the effects of storey shear-strength and damping ratio uncertainties by using the Monte Carlo simulation method. For typical uncertainties in conventional steel frames, optimum design frames always exhibit considerably less inter-storey drift and cumulative damage compared to frames designed based on IBC-2012. However, it is noted that optimum structures are in general more sensitive to the random variation of storey shear-strength. It is shown that up to 50% variation in damping ratio does not affect the seismic performance of the optimum design frames compared to their code-based counterparts. Finally, the results indicate that the ground-motion uncertainty can be efficiently managed by optimizing CBFs based on the average of a set of synthetic earthquakes representing a design spectrum. Compared to code-based design structures, CBFs designed with the proposed average patterns exhibit up to 54% less maximum inter-storey drift and 73% less cumulative damage under design earthquakes. It is concluded that the optimisation procedure presented is reliable and should improve the seismic performance of CBFs.

폐수처리를 위한 고정화 Rhodopseudomonas sp.균의 특성 (Characteristics of Immobilized Rhodopseudomonas sp. for Wastewater Treatment)

  • 고저화된 Rp.palustris균을 이용한 양식장 폐수주으이 질산염 제거를 위하여 Rp.palustris균의 고정화를 위한 담체를 조사하였는데, 탈질능력과 내구성을 실험한 결과 agar,k-carrageenan,그리고 PVA 3종의 담체주우 3% agar가 가장 적합한 담체이었다.Agar bead 내부로의 기질 이동 및 sheer stress를 고려해볼 때 최적 bead 크기는 직경 4mm 였고,접종되는 세포의 양은 25mg dry $cells/cm^2$gel 이었다. 탄소원으로 ethanol이 가장 적합하였고,최적 C:N ratio는 1.5이며,온도와 pH는 각각$31^{\circ}C$,PH 6 이었다. 이러한 조건에서의 최대 탈질율은 인공합성폐수의 경우 $345{\MU}{\ell};N_2/Cm^3 gel{\cdot}hr;이었으며,;modifed MYC 배지의; 경우는; 450{\MU}{\ell}};N_2/Cm^3 gel{\cdot}hr $이었다.
