  • Evaluation of learning ability of students is classified a step of diagnostic, formative and summative evaluation. This step-by-step evaluation is the standard of synthesis judgement, from a student's prior learning of preparation state to devotion of learning process and even learning result. In this paper, we propose the method of synthesis learning evaluation which is considered evaluation of each step in using fuzzy inference. In order to get objective evaluation of learning ability, we applied to the weights by evaluation steps. And we reflected defuzzification values of final evaluation membership function interval obtained by fuzzy inference about diagnostic, formative and summative evaluation. As a result, it processes definite inference ensures objectivity and shows validity of the synthesis evaluation method.

  • Perceptual evaluation of duration models of spoken Korean was carried out based on the Classification and Regression Tree (CART) model for text-to-speech conversion. A reference set of durations was produced by a commercial text-to-speech synthesis system for comparison. The duration model which was built in the previous research (Chung & Huckvale, 2001) was applied to a Korean language speech synthesis diphone database, 'Hanmal (HN 1.0)'. The synthetic speech produced by the CART duration model was preferred in the subjective preference test by a small margin and the synthetic speech from the commercial system was superior in the clarity test. In the course of preparing the experiment, a labeled database of spoken Korean with 670 sentences was constructed. As a result of the experiment, a trained duration model for speech synthesis was obtained. The 'Hanmal' diphone database for Korean speech synthesis was also developed as a by-product of the perceptual evaluation.

  • This paper introduces the technique of synthesizing and evaluating human utterances with exaggerated or atypical prosody. Prosody exaggeration can be implemented by manipulating either the fundamental frequency (F0) contour, the segmental durations, or the intensity contour of an utterance. Of these three prosodic elements, two or more can be exaggerated at the same time. The algorithms of synthesis and evaluation were suggested. Learner utterances exaggerated in each of the three prosodic features were evaluated with respect to their original native versions in terms of the differences in their F0 contours, the segmental durations, and the intensity contours. The measure of differences was the Euclidean distance metric between the matching points in their F0 and intensity contours. The measure was calculated after the exaggerated learner utterances were aligned by the segments and rendered identical to their native version in terms of their segmental durations. For the evaluation of the segmental durations, no prior modifications were made in durations and the same measure was used. The results from the pilot experiment suggest the viability of this measure in the evaluation of learner utterances with atypical prosody with respect to their native versions.

  • In this study, to choose the drilling m/c with analysis model for dynamic design of machine tool strctures, are used substucture syntheis method for reduction to degrees of freedom of dynamic model and analysis evaluation of substructures The dynamic factors of substurctures are examined by substructure synthesis method. And that dynamic design of structures for energy balancing are performed. The computer program for calculated of the dynamic and energy distribution analysis was developed. Result of numerical analysis by developed program obtained to conclusion as following. The design of machine tool structures by dynamic avoid the resonances, and are known to considered based on the energy balancing. These methods can be used effectively for the performance evaluation, design modification and improvement of dynamic performance evaluation, design modification and improvement of dynamic performance of machine tools.

  • Geometric and thermal errors are key contributors to the errors of a computer numerically controlled turning center. A planar error synthesis model is obtained by synthesizing 11 geometric and thermal error components of a turning center with homogeneous coordinate transformation method. This paper shows the sensitivity analysis on the temperature change, the confidence evaluation on the uncertainty Of measurement systems, and the error contribution analysis from the planar error synthesis model. Planar error in the z direction was very sensitive to the temperature change. and planar errors in the x and z directions were not affected by the uncertainty of measurement systems. The error contribution analysis ,which is applicable to designing a new turning center, was helpful to find the large error components which affect planar errors of the turning center.

  • Evaluation criteria of 'Inquiry' for subjects related to information and computer in Vocational Education Section are four and not specified. The purpose of this study is to develope evaluation criteria of 'Inquiry' for subjects related to information and computer in vocational education section. To design evaluation criteria of 'Inquiry', this paper analyzed college entrance tests and performance capabilities of computing graduating. This paper investigated the validity of the contents as judged by a panel of experts. 'Inquiry' was classified 'Analysis', 'Synthesis' and 'Evaluation'. This paper developed three evaluation criteria for 'Analysis', six evaluation criteria for 'Synthesis' and two evaluation criteria for 'Evaluation' with sample evaluation tool.

  • The elongation of the chain length at 2'position of aminothiazolylacetamido group of cephalosporin antibiotics was achieved. The derivatives with elongated side chain at 2'position were successfully synthesis and their in vitro activities were evaluated. It is indicated that there is an optimum range of the chain length in order to exhibit higher biological activities. This result could open a possibility for the development of the cephalosporin antibiotics with higher activities by further variation of the substituents at other positions. The cephalosporin derivatives with a simple (relatively non-functionalized) side chain as well as with a linear extended side chain were also prepared. Low activities of these derivatives led to a conclusion that either simple (non-functionalized) change or linear elongation of the side chain does not enhance the antibacterial activities.
