  • Super high speed motors and generators are increasing in various applications such as air compressor, gas turbine and fuel cell systems because of small size and light weight at the same power level.   • This paper presents simulation and test results of PMSM(Permanent Magnet Sychronous Motor) Controller. PMSM has higher efficiency and torque per volume than other motors because PMSM use permanent magnet of high energy density instead of field winding. PMSM control system also more efficient than Induction Motor's. In this paper, simulation and test to control speed and current of PMSM using DSP was accomplished.

  • This paper describes current controlled PWM technique of PM synchronous motors for a wide variety of speed control applications. They are however limited in their ability to operate in the power limited regime where the available torque is reduced as the speed is increased above its base value. This paper reviews the operation of the PMSM drives when they are constrained to be within the permissible envelope of maximum inverter voltage and current to produce the rated power and to provide this with the highest attainable rotor speed. The optimal field-weakening control algorithm is the use of phase current and d-axis current feedback to reduce of error between the d-axis current command and real current and to improve the torque characteristics. The improved torque characteristics of speed control strategy with optimal field weakening control algorithm is analyzed and the performance is investigated by the computer simulation and experimental results.   • 전동기의 동손 및 철손을 포함한 손실이 최소가 되는 운전 점을 추적함으로써, 전동기의 제정수 변동에 무관하게 항상 최대 효율점에서 영구자석 동기전동기를 운전할 수 있는 새로운 최대 효율 제어 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 최대 효율점 추적 제어 알고리즘은 전류의 위상각 변동에 따른 가변속 구동장치의 입력 전력 변화로부터 부하 변동에 의한 영향을 제거함으로써 정상 상태에서 부하변동에 무관하게 최대 효율점으로 수렴이 가능하고, 그 구성이 단순하기 때문에 산업계에 널리 적용될 수 있다. 실험을 통해 제안된 알고리즘의 효용성을 입증한다.

  • In this paper the electromagnetic torque developed in IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) is analyzed. If flux distributions in the motor are not sinusoidal, a sinusoidal current produces important torque ripple. Torque ripple causes vibration and noise of motors. The optimized current waveforms for ripple free is able to be obtained by analysis of Back-EMF and torque equation. The method to find the optimal current is based on numerical predetermination. In this paper proposes current waveform which can eliminate the torque ripple, and the validity is verified through the simulation.

  • Recently, owing to environmental problems and instability of rare earth resources market, non-rare earth electric motors are attracting attention. As a non-rare earth motor type, a wound rotor synchronous motor(WRSM) has high power density and wide driving range further it can reduce loss by field current control during field weakening control at high speed. However, since the d-axis flux of the WRSM is coupled with the rotor circuit, the fluctuation in the d-axis flux linkage affects the rotor circuit, which causes ripple of the field current and torque. In this paper, we propose the field current ripple compensation method by injecting the feedforward voltage. the proposed compensating method was demonstrated by simulation and experiments.

  • High speed electric trains have nonlinear loads including converters and inverters for the contol synchronous motors. Harmonic field measurements have shown that the harmonic contents of a waveform varies with time. Direct application of the harmonic assessment to the snapshot measurements would result in ambiguous conclusions depending on which instant is sampled. A cumulative probablistic approach is the most commonly used method to solve time varying harmonics. This paper provides an in depth analysis on harmonics field measurement of the high speed electric train loads, harmonics assessment by the international harmonic standards IEC 61000-3-6 and IEEE std. 519-1992, and harmonics simulation using EDSA program for the case study.

  • To predict efficiency of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors(IPMSM) and to cope with the demagnetization risk of permanent magnets used in the IPMSM, accurate iron analysis of the IPMSM is very important at the motor design stage. In the analysis, we calculate the operation condition such as rotor speed and current angle. and then, we analyzed the iron loss of the machine for electric vehicle according to its driving condition. From the analysis results, it was shown that the harmonic iron losses of stator are larger than before at field-weakening region. In addition, it was revealed that rotor iron loss mainly induced by stator slot-ripples is independent of current angle and only varied according to the speed.

  • To predict efficiency of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors(IPMSM) and to cope with the demagnetization risk of permanent magnets used in the IPMSM, accurate iron analysis of the IPMSM is very important at the motor design stage. In the analysis, we developed a new iron loss model of electrical machines for high-speed operation. The calculated iron loss was compared with the experimental data. It was clarified that the proposed method can estimate iron loss effectively at high-speed operation.

  • Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) are widely used in systems requiring high control precision, efficiency, and reliability. Predicting the remaining useful life (RUL) with health monitoring of PMSMs prevents catastrophic failure and ensures reliable operation of system. In this study, a model-based method for predicting the RUL of PMSMs using phase current and vibration signals is proposed. The proposed method includes feature selection and RUL prediction based on a particle filter with a degradation model. The Paris-Erdogan model describing micro fatigue crack propagation is used as the degradation model. An experimental set-up to conduct accelerated life test, capable of monitoring various signals was designed in this study. Phase current and vibration data obtained from an accelerated life test of the PMSMs were used to verify the proposed approach. Features extracted from the data were clustered based on monotonicity and correlation clustering, respectively. The results identify the effectiveness of using the current data in predicting the RUL of PMSMs.
