  • This study investigates Characteristic analysis of Line-start Synchronous Reluctance Motor to substitute for Induction Motor. The results of machine characteristics are analyzed by simulation using Flux2D. Characteristic analysis result of Line-start Synchronous Reluctance Motor is confirmed by the Experimental result.

  • The Synchronous inductance in Synchronous Reluctance Motor is an element that is proportional to torque. the exact value must be found for controlling and the performance development of motors. In this paper, the inductances that are obtained by the Finite Element Method and AC standstill Test are compared each other. When controlling the direct torque. the fast response characteristics has been carried out with the inductace by the AC stanstill Test. To test the proposal controller, A Synchronous Reluctance Motor has been designed and manufactured and the adequacy of the proposal control are confirmed thought simulations and experiments.

Direct Torque Control System of a Reluctance Synchronous Motor Using a Neural Network

  • This paper presents an implementation of high performance control of a reluctance synchronous motor (RSM) using a neural network with a direct torque control. The equivalent circuit in a RSM, which considers iron losses, is theoretically analyzed. Also, the optimal current ratio between torque current and exiting current is analytically derived. In the case of a RSM, unlike an induction motor, torque dynamics can only be maintained by controlling the flux level because torque is directly proportional to the stator current. The neural network is used to efficiently drive the RSM. The TMS320C3l is employed as a control driver to implement complex control algorithms. The experimental results are presented to validate the applicability of the proposed method. The developed control system shows high efficiency and good dynamic response features for a 1.0 [kW] RSM having a 2.57 ratio of d/q.

  • In this paper, torque characteristics analysis of Synchronous Reluctance Motor with the cylindrical rotor type by winding function theory(WFT) is described. The stator is same as one of the induction motor. From the d-axis, q-axis flux density distribution, to calculate self and mutual inductances needed to calculate the torque of the machine by using winding function theory the new equivalent geometry of rotor was proposed. D-axis, q-axis flux densities, self inductance and torque characteristics were obtained. From the comparison with results of finite element analysis the proposed method was verified.

  • This paper presents characteristics of SynRM(Synchronous Reluctance Motor) that is compared with a high speed induction motor. SynRM is much suitable for high speed electric machines because of structural robustness. There are many kinds of SynRM according to the shape of rotors. Particularly, axially laminated anisotropic (ALA) rotor is suitable for high speed instruments. Characteristics of SynRM with ALA rotor is obtained from a governing voltage and torque equation mainly composed of d-axis and q-axis inductance that will be identified with finite element method.

  • This paper is proposed an efficiency optimization control algorithm for a synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM) which minimizes the copper and iron losses. fen exists a variety of combinations of d and q-axis current which provide a specific motor torque. The objective of the efficiency optimization controller is to seek a combination of d and q-axis current components, which provides minimum losses at a certain operating point in steady state. It is shown that the current components which directly govern the torque production have been very well regulated by the efficiency optimization control scheme. The proposed algorithm allows the electromagnetic losses in variable speed and torque drives to be reduced while keeping good torque control dynamics. Simulation results are presented to show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, we operate Synchronous Reluctance Motor(SynRM) using the two-phase conduction method. Acually SynRM is operated by the sinusoidal PWM method but in home-appliance there is many restrictions of making the motor such as the method of winding, the shape of rotor etc. Therefore it is possible that there is little difference of performance between the two-phase conduction method and the sinusoidal PWM method. In this paper the characteristics of motor noise will be analyzed especially in the case of using the two-phase conduction method by experiment results.

  • In general, Vector control of synchronous reluctance motor(SynRM) is performed under the assumptions that all the parameters are constant and magnetizing flux saturation and iron loss effect can be negligible. Under these assumptions, however, torque nonlinear characteristic can be a possible performance deterioration when precision torque control is needed and operating speed is high. This paper proposes the method, in the Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM), which select appropriate stator d,q-axis currents that the influence of iron core loss on the developed torque can be minimized, and shows that the proposed method is comparable to the algorithm which compensates the iron core loss effect.

  • This paper presents a current sensorless maximum torque control of a synchronous reluctance motor drive. Stator current and current angle vs. maximum torque are obtained using measured d-axis and q-axis inductances. Then, d and q-axis stator voltage references for current sensorless maximum torque control are calculated from stator voltage equations. The proposed method is verified by simulation results comparing with conventional method.

  • This paper deals with the characteristics analysis & optimum design of Synchronous Reluctance Motor (SynRM) with anisotropy rotor using a coupled Finite Element Method (FEM) & Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The focus of this paper is the characteristics analysis & optimum design relative to the output power on the basis of rotor materials of a SynRM. The coupled Finite Elements Analysis (FEA) & Preisach model have been used to evaluate nonlinear solutions. Comparisons are given with characteristics of normal synchronous reluctance motor and those of anisotropy rotor SynRM (ANISO-SynRM), respectively. The feasibility of using RSM with FEM in practical engineering problem is investigated with computational examples and comparison between the fitted response and the results obtained from an analytical solution according to the design variables of rotor in anisotropy rotor SynRM.
