  • In this paper, a multimedia authoring system using temporal/spatial synchronization manager is designed and implemented to support easy and efficient generation of multimedia title. For this goal, a flowchart-oriented logic generator which represents a title author's design intent into a practical title composition logic without extra translation process, and a logic interpreter which translate and implement the generated title logic, are designed. Furthermore, a temporal/spatial synchronization manager which manages temporal/spatial synchronization information between media data for multimedia representation, is designed. Especially, a temporal specification model and MRL, a formal language for the model, are designed to synchronize the temporal relation between media objects. The MRL represents a complex temporal relation by simple and clear form, and synchronizes efficiently multimedia representation according to the author's intent. A presentation frame editor which makes coincidence between visible size of representation media and attachment point, is implemented for spatial synchronization.

  • Maintaining timing relationships among packets in a single media stream or between packets from different media streams is an essential criterion in MMT system. It is the function of the synchronization and de-jittering algorithms to re-adjust timing relationship between the MMT packets to assure synchronized playback. Thus, delivery of time constrained MPEG media on time, according to their temporal requirements, is an important goal of MMT. For this purpose MMT needs to specify syntax and semantics of a timing model to be used by the delivery functions. In this paper, we propose a proper timestamp-related header format for MMT delivery timing model to support media synchronization in various delivery scenarios including hybrid delivery.

  • This paper describes a multimedia synchronization model based on the MPEG-4(Moving Picture Expert Group) system. It defines and modifies new nodes for representing temporal relationships between media objects in the BIFS(Binary Format for Scene) of MPEG-4 system which Integrates, manages and transfers multimedia objects such as audio, video, image, etc. The relationships are represented by using a multimedia temporal model during the start, play and delay time interval. In addition, we illustrate a multimedia authoring system that includes the Interface used for defining the temporal relationships. Differently from several contentional tools generally appropriate for professional users who can edit the BIFS nodes of themselves, the system provides end-users with the function that can define the temporal relationships of multimedia objects directly in the interface.

  • A computer clock has limits in accuracy and precision affected by its inherent instability, the environment elements, the modification of users, and errors of the system. So the computer clock needs to be synchronized with a standard clock if the computer system requires the precise time processing. The purpose of synchronizing clocks is to provide a global time base throughout a distributed system. Once this time base exists, transactions among members of distributed system can be controlled based on time. This paper discusses the integrated approach to clock synchronization. An embedded system is considered for time synchronization based on the GPS(Global Positioning System) referenced time distribution model. The system uses GPS as standard reference time source and offers UTC(Universal Time Coordinated) through NTP(Network Time Protocol). A clock model is designed and adapted to keep stable time and to provide accurate standard time with precise resolution. Private MIB(Management Information Base) is defined for network management. Implementation results and performance analysis are also presented.

  • In this paper we propose a Mobile Petri-net Model (MPM) as a new specification model including the QoS parameter that minimizes the transmission delay time. In MPM, we propose a playing time algorithm for supporting the seamless presentation and the smooth playing. The proposed model has a higher guarantee of QoS such as playing time than the previous work.

  • The aim of synchronization of production and transportation planning in the supply chain is to increase the flexibility and to decrease various costs. The suggested model in this study synchronizes the timing to supply to a downstream manufacturer directly after production and to be consumed in a downstream manufacturer right after receipt. This model deals with the frequent delivery in small amount which is a new trend of the transportation not governed the economy of scale principle. Moreover, various types of transportation governed by the economy of scale principle or not are considered. Then, the two-phase mathematical model is suggested to obtain optimal job sequence and production quantity for each tasks. But, it is difficult to gain optimal solutions if there is a transportation governed by the economy of scale principle in the supply chain, or the size of the problem is increased. Thus, heuristic algorithms based on simulated annealing and genetic algorithm are suggested to find good solutions in the reasonable time.

  • In this paper, the operation of matched filter for searching initial synchronization in direct sequence spread spectrum receiver is studied. The implementation model of the matched filter by HDL (Hardware Description Language) is proposed. The model has an architecture based on parallelism and pipeline for fast processing, which includes circular buffer, multiplier, adder, and code look-up table. The performance of the model is analyzed and compared with the implementation by a conventional digital signal processor. It is implemented on a FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and its operation is validated in a timing simulation result.

  • 기존의 많은 동기화 모델 중 EFSM(Extended Finite State Machine)기반 동기화 모델을 수정 보완한 MFSM(Modified Finite State Machine)을 제안한다.

  • A study about performance analysis of synchronization clock using measured clock noises is required. Therefore this paper executed the study for performance analysis of synchronization clock and acquirement of maximum number of network node with various clock states using measured clock noises in NG-SDH networks. Also this paper generated a suitable clock model using measured clock noises, and carried out simulations with various clock states. Through the simulation results, maximum numbers were 80 or more network nodes in normal state, and were below 37 nodes in short-term phase transient(SPT) state, and were 50 or more in long-term phase transient(LPT) state. Accordingly this study showed that maximum numbers to meet ITU-T specification were below 37 network nodes in three clock states. Also this study showed that when SPT or LPT states occur from NE network before DOTS system, synchronization source must change with other stable synchronization source of normal state.

  • Location Positioning is a major technology for ubiquitous computing. Recently the research on Location Positioning using UWB is on going. In order to construct an in-door location network, synchronization of base stations is very important. NTP is Popularly used as clock synchronization protocol ranging from LAN to WAN. Also Master-Slave scheme is the simplest method to synchronize in-door network. We compare and analyze NTP and Master-Slave schemes according to the statistical channel model for indoor multipath propagation environment. In this paper, error ranges are calculated at various circumstances that in-door network expands from one primary base station into several base stations. We compared the correctness of NTP and Master-Slave synchronization methods. NTP is more reasonable synchronization protocol in in-door environment.
