Pseudoaneurysm of the abdominal wall is a possible but very rare clinical entity. It is a known complication of surgery, trauma, or arterial puncture, but it is rarely spontaneous. Even though it can usually present with a wide range of local symptoms, it can cause referred pain via spinal cord, which is cross-excited with afferent sympathetic nervous system. We report a case of right arm pain which was referred from a small abdominal pseudoaneurysm like a referred pain from gall bladder. This rare entity should be considered in the differential for pain management in case that the pain does not resolve with medication or interventional pain management.
Anhidrosis refers to the condition in which the body does not respond appropriately to thermal stimuli by sweating. Sweating plays an important role in maintaining the body temperature, and its absence should not be overlooked since an elevated body temperature can cause various symptoms, even leading to death when uncontrolled. The various neurological disorders that can induce anhidrosis make a detailed neurological evaluation essential. The medication history of the patient should also be checked because anhidrosis can be caused by various drugs. The tests available for evaluating sweating include the quantitative sudomotor axon reflex sweat test, thermoregulatory sweat test, sympathetic skin response, and electrochemical skin conductance. Pathological findings can also be checked directly in a skin biopsy. This review discusses the differential diagnosis and evaluation of anhidrosis.

There have been some reports showing that cardiovascular response is affected by exposure to extremely low frequency magnetic field (ELF-MF). In this experiment. we intended to observe if ELF-MF affects the basal level of cardiovascular response and effect of drugs acting on sympathetic nervous system. Rats exposed to MF (60 Hz. 20 G) for 1 or 5 days and sham were anesthetized with pentobarbital-Na. Carotid artery and jugular vein were intubated to measure blood pressure (BP) and inject drug respectively. (omitted)

We present a patient with a primitive neuroectodermal tumor arising from the right atrium who experienced multiple syncope episodes daily, which had first appeared 1 month after surgery. The symptoms continued to worsen over the course of chemotherapy, and the autonomic function test (AFT) was performed after the 14th chemotherapy cycle. The AFT revealed orthostatic hypotension and reduced baroreflex-dependent sympathetic reactivity. Physical counterpressure techniques were applied with a visual biofeedback intervention, and were found to be effective in reducing the syncope episodes.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate objectively measured physical activity (PA) in institutionalized older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and to elucidate the influence of autonomic nervous function, salivary cortisol, and PA on cognitive functions based on neurovisceral integration model. Methods: Overall cognitive function was evaluated using the mini-mental state examination (MMSE) and executive function was evaluated using semantic verbal fluency test and clock drawing test. Actigraph for PA, HRV and sAA for autonomous function, and the geriatric depression scale for depression were used. Saliva specimens were collected in the morning for sAA and cortisol. Results: Ninety-eight older adults from four regional geriatric hospitals participated in the study. They took 4,499 steps per day on average. They spent 753.93 minutes and 23.12 minutes on average in sedentary and moderate-to-vigorous activity, respectively. In the multiple regression analysis, lower salivary cortisol level (β = - .33, p = .041) and greater step counts (β = .37, p = .029) significantly improved MMSE score. Greater step count (β = .27, p = .016) also exerted a significant influence on verbal fluency, and greater sAA (β= .35, p = .026) was significantly associated with a better clock drawing test result. Conclusion: Salivary cortisol, sAA and physical activity were significantly associated with cognitive functions. To prevent older adults from developing dementia, strategies are needed to increase their overall PA amount by decreasing sedentary time and to decrease salivary cortisol for cognitive function, and to maintain their sympathetic nervous activity for executive function.
Objectives : This study was designed to evaluate the correlation between patterns of dyspepsia(acute dyspepsia, functional dyspepsia, dyspepsia with the organic disease) and autonomic nerve system dysfunction using HRV analysis. Methods : The patient group consisted of 88 patients diagnosed as a dyspepsia (Acute dyspepsia group-35 patients, Functional dyspepsia group-28 patients, Dyspepsia with the organic disease group-28 patients) who visited in the Oriental Medical Hospital of Dong-eui University from 2005.3.OO to 2008.8.OO. And the control group consisted of 33 patients diagnosed as a normal state of stomach during the same period. We checked HRV of the 4 groups over 5 minutes and compared the HRV index between groups. Results : 1. HF, LF, VLF and TP were significantly lower in the acute dyspepsia, functional dyspepsia and organic dyspepsia patient group than in the control group. 2. HF, LF, VLF and TP were higher in the acute dyspepsia patient group than in the organic dyspepsia patient group, but the differences were not statistically significant. 3. HF, LF, VLF and TP were higher in the acute dyspepsia patient group than in the functional dyspepsia patient group, but the differences were not statistically significant. 4. HF, LF, VLF and TP were lower in the functional dyspepsia patient group than in the organic dyspepsia patient group, but the differences were not statistically significant. Conclusions : Compared to the control group, all of the dyspepsia patient groups showed the tendency that the overall activity of the autonomic nervous system and the activity of sympathetic nerves decreased. Although there was no significant difference in the suppression of the autonomic nervous system, chronic dyspepsia patient group was lower than acute dyspepsia patient group, functional dyspepsia patient group was lower than the organic dyspepsia patient group in HRV.
Background: It has been known that the most effective treatment method of hyperhidrosis is video-assisted thoracoscopic sympathetic nerve block. Postoperative compensatory hyperhidrosis and anhidrosis are major factors that decrease the postoperative satisfaction. Although sympathetic rami have been selectively blocked to decrease the complications, technical difficulties and excessive bleeding have prevented the universal application. Material and Method: Three pre-fixative cadavers were dissected before clinical application. Bilateral sympathetic chains were exposed in supine position after the whole anterior chest wall was removed. Second and third sympathetic rami were blocked using clips. After the sympathetic chains including ganglia were removed, we evaluated the extents of rami block. Twenty-five patients were subjected to the clinical application. Surgeries were performed in semi-fowlers position under general anesthesia and bilateral ventilation. 2 mm thoracoscopy and 5 mm trocar were intro-duced through third and fourth intercostal space, respectively. Second and third sympathetic rami were blocked using thoracoscopic clips. The postoperative complications, satisfaction, and compensatory hyperhidrosis rate were evaluated retrospectively. Result: Sympathetic rami were completely blocked in cadaver dissection study Hyper-hidrosis symptom was improved in all patients without operative complication. Operative time was shorter than that of traditional ramicotomy. All patients, except four, were satisfied with postoperative palmar hyperhidrosis. Com-pensatory hyperhidrosis was more severely happened in fifteen patients (60%). The remaining six patients had no complaint. Two patients had a minimal degree of gustatory hyperhidrosis. Conclusion: This operative method had shorter operative time and less complication rate, compared with traditional ramicotomy Operative success rate was similar to the traditional syrnpathicotorny; lower extent and occurrence rate of compensatory hyperhidrosis. The thoracic sympathetic rami clipping was suggested as an alternative method for treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis.
Objective : This study was to investigate the effects of distilled Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu Pharmacopuncture and Zizyphi Spinosi Semen Pharmacopuncture on autonomic nervous system with Heart Rate Variability(HRV). Purpose of the trial was to observe what influence distilled Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu Pharmacopuncture and Zizyphi Spinosi Semen Pharmacopuncture have on the autonomic nervous system. Methods : 60 healthy male volunteers were divided into three groups which consist of two experimental groups such as Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu Pharmacopuncture and Zizyphi Spinosi Semen Pharmacopuncture, and a control group. Study design was a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial. 20 subjects in experimental group were injected distilled Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu Pharmacopuncture at $GB_{21}$(Kyonjong), 20 subjects in other experimental group were injected distilled Zizyphi Spinosi Semen Pharmacopuncture and 20 subjects in control group were injected Normal Saline at $GB_{21}$(Kyonjong). One volunteer of each groups were excluded from analysis because of error during measuring HRV. At the end of the study 57 volunteers completed HRV analysis. HRV was measured by QECG-3:LXC3203(LAXTHA Inc. Korea) at P0, P1, P2, P3, P4, P5 and P6 and its time-course dependent change in each group was analyzed using paired t-test, and the difference of HRV fluctuation among two experimental group and a control was evaluated by one way ANOVA(p<0.05). Results : A. Time Domain Analysis 1. Analysis of Mean HRV, SDNN and Complexity After injection of distilled Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu Pharmacopuncture, Mean HRV was significantly decreased only at 20 minutes after injection. SDNN was significantly increased from 15 minute after injection. Complexity was significantly decreased only at 15 minute after injection. After injection of distilled Zizyphi Spinosi Semen Pharmacopuncture, Complexity was significantly decreased at 10, 15 and 30 minutes after injection. 2. Analysis of HRV index, pNN50 After injection of distilled Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu Pharmacopuncture, pNN50 was significantly decreased at 15, 20 and 25 minutes after injection. Compared with Normal Saline injection, distilled Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu Pharmacopuncture and Zizyphi Spinosi Semen Pharmacopuncture showed significant difference on HRV index and pNN50 at 5 minutes after injection. B. Frequency Domain Analysis 1. Analysis of Ln(TP), Ln(VLF) After injection of distilled Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu Pharmacopuncture, Ln(TP) was significantly increased at 15 and 30 minutes after injection. Ln(VLF) was significantly increased at 10, 15 and 30 minutes after injection. After injection of distilled Zizyphi Spinosi Semen Pharmacopuncture, Ln(VLF) was significantly increased only at 30 minutes after injection. Compared with Normal Saline injection, distilled Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu Pharmacopuncture showed significant difference on Ln(TP) after 5 minutes of injection. Conclusions : Our results suggest that Cervi Pantotrichum Cornu Pharmacopuncture and Zizyphi Spinosi Semen Pharmacopuncture in healthy adult man tend to activate the autonomic nervous system and sympathetic nervous system compared to Normal Saline within normal range.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of acute respiratory training feedback upon a change on HRV-Autonomic nervous system in middle-aged women. The research subjects were totally 24 middle-aged women(40-60 years old), were randomly allocated 12 people to the respiratory training group and 12 people to the control group, and then were carried out the acute respiratory training. The feedback exercise in the respiratory training group was conducted for totally 15 minutes. Following the 10-minute breath awareness training according to the expert's guidance, the 5-minute autonomous breathing exercise was implemented. The data analysis was carried out Repeated Measures ANOVA with SPSS WIN 20.0. The conclusions that were obtained through this are as follows. The middle-aged women got significantly higher in SDNN, RMSSD, LF, HF after the acute respiratory training. Compared to the control group. the respiratory training group was indicated to have gotten higher significantly in SDNN, RMSSD, LF, HF. Mean HR and LF/HF were not shown a significant difference in both the main effect of group & period and the interaction effect of group & period. Above of a result the acute respiratory training feedback is effective for SDNN, RMSSD, sympathetic activity, parasympathetic activity in the middle-aged women. Thereby, the respiratory training program improves autonomic nervous system, being considered to be possibly expected the effective value of exercise intervention available for relieving stress and recovering autonomic dysfunction in the middle-aged women.

Purpose: Heart rate variability(HRV) is the clinical consequence of various influences of the autonomic nervous system(ANS) on heart beat. HRV can estimate the potential physiologic rhythm from the interval between consecutive beats(RR interval or HRV data). It is known as RSA which represents respiration-related HR rhythmic oscillation. Previous studies demonstrated a specific breathing pattern(0.1Hz, 6breaths/min) to improve a physiological body condition related to the stress. In this paper, the level of stress would be evaluated in terms of three phases of the dental treatment, combined with 6breaths/min. Methods: These phases include before, during and after tooth extraction or anesthesia or something.36 patients' stresses were assessed using HRV stress analyzer in each phase in Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital, and Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital, Hallym University Medical Center from Jun. to Sept. of 2007. HRV 5-min data collected were analyzed in time-domain and frequency-domain to evaluate the activity of autonomic nervous system(ANS) which represents the level of stress. Results: All HRV parameters including HF(high frequency), LF(low frequency) and LF/HF ratio showned a significant change affecting the ANS balance. There was a 6.4% difference between R(LF/HF)s on general breathing pattern for balance of Autonomic nervous system, but on controlled breathing pattern, 0.1Hz, was made narrow till 1.4%. The activity of ANS has increased by 1.4% on general breathing pattern, and by 2.9% on controlled breathing pattern, 0.1Hz. Conclusion: After analysis of preoperative stress changes and effect of breathing pattern of 0.1 Hz on the stress in 36 patients who have undergone third molar extraction, following was concluded. In the preoperative stage, the sympathetic change was the greatest?after the?anesthetic injection, and stress was relieved by controlling the breathing pattern to a frequency of 0.1Hz.
