This paper describes the design and performance of a secure routing protocol with time-space cryptography for mobile ad-hoc networks. The proposed time-space scheme works in the time domain for key distribution between source and destination as well as in the space domain for intrusion detection along the route between them. For data authentication, it relies on the symmetric key cryptography due to high efficiency and a secret key is distributed using a time difference from the source to the destination. Also, a one-way hash chain is formed on a hop-by-hop basis to prevent a compromised node or an intruder from manipulating the routing information. In order to evaluate the performance of our routing protocol, we compare it with the existing AODV protocol by simulation under the same conditions. The proposed protocol has been validated using the ns-2 network simulator with wireless and mobility extensions.

For many mission-critical related wireless sensor network applications such as military and homeland security, user's access restriction is necessary to be enforced by access control mechanisms for different access rights. Public key-based access control schemes are more attractive than symmetric-key based approaches due to high scalability, low memory requirement, easy key-addition/revocation for a new node, and no key predistribution requirement. Although Wang et al. recently introduced a promising access control scheme based on elliptic curve cryptography (ECC), it is still burdensome for sensors and has several security limitations (it does not provide mutual authentication and is strictly vulnerable to denial-of-service (DoS) attacks). This paper presents an energy-efficient access control scheme based on ECC to overcome these problems and more importantly to provide dominant energy-efficiency. Through analysis and simulation based evaluations, we show that the proposed scheme overcomes the security problems and has far better energy-efficiency compared to current scheme proposed byWang et al.

In this paper, we propose the efficient HW/SW co-design method of light-weight cryptography such as HIGHT, PRESENT and PRINTcipher using GEZEL. At first the symmetric cryptographic algorithms were designed using the GEZEL language which is efficiently used for HW/SW co-design. And for the improvement of performance the HW optimization theory such as unfolding, retiming and so forth were adapted to the cryptographic HW module conducted by FSMD. Also, the operation modes of those algorithms were implemented using C language in 8051 microprocessor, it can be compatible to various platforms. For providing reliable communication between HW/SW and preventing the time delay the improved handshake protocol was chosen for enhancing the performance of the connection between HW/SW. The improved protocol can process the communication-core and cryptography-core on the HW in parallel so that the messages can be transmitted to SW after HW operation and received from SW during encryption operation.

In order to combat the security threats that sensor networks are exposed to, a cryptography protocol is implemented at sensor nodes for point-to-point encryption between nodes. Given that nodes have limited resources, symmetric cryptography that is proven to be efficient for low power devices is implemented. Data protection is integrated into a sensor's packet by the means of symmetric encryption with the Dragon stream cipher and incorporating the newly designed Dragon-MAC Message Authentication Code. The proposed algorithm was designed to employ some of the data already computed by the underlying Dragon stream cipher for the purpose of minimizing the computational cost of the operations required by the MAC algorithm. In view that Dragon is a word based stream cipher with a fast key stream generation, it is very suitable for a constrained environment. Our protocol regarded the entity authentication and message authentication through the implementation of authenticated encryption scheme in wireless sensor nodes.

Providing security has been always on priority in all areas of computing and communication, and for the systems that are low on computing power, implementing appropriate and efficient security mechanism has been a continuous challenge for the researchers. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system is such an environment, which requires the design and implementation of efficient security mechanism. Earlier, the security protocols for RFID based on hash functions and symmetric key cryptography have been proposed. But, due to high strength and requirement of less key size in elliptic curve cryptography, the focus of researchers has been on designing efficient security protocol for RFID based on elliptic curves. In this paper, an efficient elliptic curve signcryption based security protocol for RFID has been proposed, which provides mutual authentication, confidentiality, non-repudiation, integrity, availability, forward security, anonymity, and scalability. Moreover, the proposed protocol successfully provides resistance from replay attack, impersonation attack, location tracking attack, de-synchronization attack, denial of service attack, man-in-the-middle attack, cloning attack, and key-compromise attack. Results have revealed that the proposed protocol is efficient than the other related protocols as it takes less computational time and storage cost, especially for the tag, making it ideal to be used for RFID systems.
The basic requirements for conducting electronic commerce include confidentiality, integrity, authentication and authorization. Cryptographic algorithms, make possible use of powerful authentication and encryption methods. Cryptographic techniques offer essential types of services for electronic commerce : authentication, non-repudiation. The oldest form of key-based cryptography is called secret-key or symmetric encryption. Public-key systems offer some advantages. The public key pair can be rapidly distributed. We don't have to send a copy of your public key to all the respondents. Fast cryptographic algorithms for generating message digests are known as one-way hash function. In order to use public-key cryptography, we need to generate a public key and a private key. We could use e-mail to send public key to all the correspondents. A better, trusted way of distributing public keys is to use a certification authority. A certification authority will accept our public key, along with some proof of identity, and serve as a repository of digital certificates. The digital certificate acts like an electronic driver's license. The Korea government is trying to set up the Public Key Infrastructure for certificate authorities. Both governments and the international business community must involve archiving keys with trusted third parties within a key management infrastructure. The archived keys would be managed, secured by governments under due process of law and strict accountability. It is important that all the nations continue efforts to develop an escrowed key in frastructure based on voluntary use and international standards and agreements.
Our approach permits to capitalize the expert's knowledge as business rules by using an agent-based platform. The objective of our approach is to allow experts to manage the daily evolutions of business domains without having to use a technician, and to allow them to be implied, and to participate in the development of the application to accomplish the daily tasks of their work. Therefore, the manipulation of an expert's knowledge generates the need for information security and other associated technologies. The notion of cryptography has emerged as a basic concept in business rules modeling. The purpose of this paper is to present a cryptographic algorithm based approach to integrate the security aspect in business rules modeling. We propose integrating an agent-based approach in the framework. This solution utilizes a security agent with domain ontology. This agent applies an encryption/decryption algorithm to allow for the confidentiality, authenticity, and integrity of the most important rules. To increase the security of these rules, we used hybrid cryptography in order to take advantage of symmetric and asymmetric algorithms. We performed some experiments to find the best encryption algorithm, which provides improvement in terms of response time, space memory, and security.

Lossless encryption methods are more applicable than lossy encryption methods when marginal distortion is not tolerable. In this research, the author propose a novel lossless symmetric key encryption/decryption technique. In the proposed algorithm, the image is transformed into the frequency domain using the lifting wavelet transform, then the image sub-bands are encrypted in a such way that guarantees a secure, reliable, and an unbreakable form. The encryption involves scattering the distinguishable frequency data in the image using a reversible weighting factor amongst the rest of the frequencies. The algorithm is designed to shuffle and reverse the sign of each frequency in the transformed image before the image frequencies are transformed back to the pixel domain. The results show a total deviation in pixel values between the original and encrypted image. The decryption algorithm reverses the encryption process and restores the image to its original form. The proposed algorithm is evaluated using standard security and statistical methods; results show that the proposed work is resistant to most known attacks and more secure than other algorithms in the cryptography domain.
This paper presents an achievable secure videoconferencing system based on quantum key encryption in which key management can be directly applied and embedded in a server/client videoconferencing model using, for example, OpenMeeting. A secure key management methodology is proposed to ensure both a trusted quantum network and a secure videoconferencing system. The proposed methodology presents architecture on how to share secret keys between key management servers and distant parties in a secure domain without transmitting any secrets over insecure channels. The advantages of the proposed secure key management methodology overcome the limitations of quantum point-to-point key sharing by simultaneously distributing keys to multiple users; thus, it makes quantum cryptography a more practical and secure solution. The time required for the encryption and decryption may cause a few seconds delay in video transmission, but this proposed method protects against adversary attacks.

Cryptographic algorithms are used to prevent the illegal manipulation of data. They are divided into public-key cryptosystems and symmetric-key cryptosystems. Public-key cryptosystems require considerable time for encryption and decryption compared to symmetric-key cryptosystem. On the other hand, key management, and delivery are easier for public-key cryptosystems than symmetric-key cryptosystems because different keys are used for encryption and decryption. Furthermore, hash functions are being used very effectively to verify the integrity of the digital content, as they always generate output with a fixed size using the data of various sizes as input. This paper proposes a method using RSA public-key cryptography and a hash function to determine if a digital image is deformed or not and to detect the manipulated location. In the proposed method, the entire image is divided into several blocks, 64×64 in size. The watermark is then allocated to each block to verify the deformation of the data. When deformation occurs, the manipulated pixel will be divided into smaller 4×4 sub-blocks, and each block will have a watermark to detect the location. The safety of the proposed method depends on the security of the cryptographic algorithm and the hash function.
