This paper presents the improvement of the EC-2 and EHE-08 shear strength formulations for concrete beams with shear reinforcement. The employed method is based on the genetic programming (GP) technique, which is configured to generate symbolic regression from a set of experimental data by considering the interactions among precision, accuracy, safety and simplicity. The size effect and the influence of the amount of shear reinforcement are examined. To develop and verify the models, 257 experimental tests on concrete beams from the literature are used. Three expressions of considerable simplicity, which significantly improve the shear strength prediction with respect to the formulations of the different studied codes, are proposed.

The purpose of this study is to consider the internal meaning and the external from of Dualism in Unisex Mode : to investigate the dualistic expression appeared on the Unisex Mode by analyzing the general fashion magazine. The results of the study were as follows : First, the phenomenon of Dualism in Unisex Mode may be clues indication that some roles, once assigned exclusively to either males or females, are becoming mutually shared, or what may be called human roles. Second, the expression of Dualism in Unisex Mode whether direct away of symbolic way is represented by metaphoric manner such as unisex look(mono sex look, or trans sex look) with spirit of the time’s. Third, the formality and contents that related dualistic mode shows a various method in style, coordination of texture or item.

Jambangee's advertisements in spring 1998 attracted public attention by the differentiating message of 'nationalism'. The purpose of this paper is to interpret Korean youth's culture of consumption, value, thought and culture expressed in these advertisements. The semiotic analytic method of F. Saussure and R. Barthe were used. Metaphor and metonymy as interpretive tools were used. Two levels of meaning, denotation and connotation were examined, and idelogies and mythologies were sought. Contrary to the most of jean advertisements which show youth, characteristic style, western life style and westernized beauty, refinement, materialism, and social differentiation, Jambangee's advertisement showed nationalism and patriotism. These advertisements criticized that preference of imported goods and ostentation of purchasing power brought crisis of economy and I.M.F. system. Jambangee's jeans symbolized as the meaning of nationalism and patriotism were suggested as a way to save our country. Jambangee's advertisements are meaningful. Because we had accepted western fashion passively so far, but for the first time Jambangee applied Korean design elements to jeans and gave new meanings to them through the 'nationalism'campaign.

방향이나 목적, 기준 따위를 나타내는 표지의 역할로 웹 사이트에서 활용되는 아이콘은 사용자가 정보 분류에 따른 정보, 이른바 콘텐츠를 찾는데 가장 중요한 수단이 되고 있다. 사용자는 아이콘의 시각화가 콘텐츠의 내용을 정확히 담고 있을 때 인터넷 사용의 만족을 얻게 된다. 따라서 보다 사용자가 원하는 콘텐츠를 찾는데 있어서 빠르고 편리한 기능을 수행하게 되는 아이콘의 시각화는 그 중요성이 매우 높다. 이에 본 논문은 웹 사이트에서 공통의 콘텐츠를 지칭하고 있는 아이콘의 표현방식을 조사하여 무형의 콘텐츠와 유형의 콘텐츠로 나누고 그 사례를 기호적 입장에서 분석, 유형별로 가장 적합한 시각화의 방법을 제시하였다

The recent project has been progressed from focusing on the establishment of having an international sense and making a symbolic building in Cheju Island. Its purpose is to provide the best medical services to the inhabitants, and to reflect the local feelings and the entire design concept based upon the role of the health promotion. This study is to explain the process of a traditional architecture method of Cheju Island applied to the modern design element and re-composition into the layout plan, the composition diagram of the exterior, the elevations, etc. of the drawings of the project.

This paper is to analysis covering and exposing elements through surface in the spirit of the time through the meaning of relationship between structure and symbol(ornament) in the theory of dressing of Gottfrid Semper. In other words, The purpose is to illuminate how complementary tectonic between structure and symbolic of an architecture surface is expressed in accordance with the biased required conditions relating with the paradigm of the era. The advancement of the new method of tectonic and the new aesthetic taste have a deep relation with the reconsidering the dichotomy classification discussing a dominant position between structure and symbol(ornament). Expression of surface representing the era comes across the combined interpretation of technology, structure, and the non-physical culture's art of the community and the era.

It was shown that if Q is a fully indecomposable $n{\times}n$ orthogonal matrix then Q has at least 4n-4 nonzero entries in 1993. In this paper, we show that for each integer p with $4n-4{\leq}p{\leq}n^2$, there exist a fully indecomposable $n{\times}n$ orthogonal matrix with exactly p nonzero entries. Furthermore, we obtain a method of construction of a fully indecomposable $n{\times}n$ orthogonal matrix which has exactly 4n-4 nonzero entries. This is a part of the study in sparse matrices.

Based on linear elastic theory of quasicrystals, various equations and solutions for quasicrystal beams are deduced systematically and directly from plane problem of two-dimensional quasicrystals. Without employing ad hoc stress or deformation assumptions, the refined theory of beams is explicitly established from the general solution of quasicrystals and the Lur'e symbolic method. In the case of homogeneous boundary conditions, the exact equations and exact solutions for beams are derived, which consist of the fourth-order part and transcendental part. In the case of non-homogeneous boundary conditions, the exact governing differential equations and solutions under normal loadings only and shear loadings only are derived directly from the refined beam theory, respectively. In two illustrative examples of quasicrystal beams, it is shown that the exact or accurate analytical solutions can be obtained in use of the refined theory.

세계화의 진행이 가속화 됨에 따라 사람들은 국제적으로 통용되는 표준화된, 일체화된 문자에 대해 싫증을 갖기 시작하였고, 더불어 원시적인, 도상화된, 자연적인, 흥미성이 있는 시각적 전달에 관심을 갖기 시작하였다. 동파문자는 중국 나시족의 상형문자로서 구상(具象)성, 추상성, 간결성, 연상(聯想)성, 취미성, 상징성 등의 특징을 갖고 있다. 이러한 특징은 현대사회의 빠른 식별과 흥미성, 심미적 수요에 부합한다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 상형문자인 동파문자의 특성과 심미성을 분석하여 비대면 교류의 공간에서 사람들의 감정 표현 매개체로 활용할 수 있는 가능성을 연구하고자 한다.
