  • The inverter is an essential part of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive systems. The performance of an inverter is greatly influenced by its modulation strategy. Using a proper management of modulation strategies can guarantee high performance from a PMSM under various speed conditions. Switching between modulations is a pivotal technique that determines the performance of a PMSM. Most works on hybrid methods focus on two-level induction motors drive systems. In this paper, in order to improve the performance of PMSMs under various speed conditions, a hybrid method of a pulse width modulation (PWM) control scheme based on a neutral-point-clamped (NPC) three level topology was proposed. This hybrid PWM modulation comprised space vector PWM (SVPWM) and selective harmonic elimination PWM (SHEPWM). Under low speed conditions, the SVPWM is employed to cause the PMSM to start smoothly, and to obtain a rapid response from the control system. Under high speed conditions, the SHEPWM is employed to reduce the switching frequency and to eliminate particular current harmonics. Moreover, the harmonic characteristics of different modulations are analyzed to obtain a smooth transition between the SHEPWM and the SVPWM. Experimental and simulation results indicated the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

  • Modules of the system that requires large capacity and high-speed information processing are implemented in the form of MCM that allows high-speed data processing, high density circuit integration and widely applied to such fields as ATM, GPS and PCS. Hence we developed the ATM switching module that is consisted of three chips and 2.48 Gbps data throughput, in the form of 10 multi-layer by Cu/Photo-BCB and 491pin PBGA which size is $48 \times 48 \textrm {mm}^2$. hnologies required for the development of the MCM includes extracting parameters for designing the substrate/package through the interconnect characterization to implement the high-speed characteristics, thermal management at the high-density MCM, and the generation of the testability that is one of the most difficult issues for developing the MCM. For the development of the ATM Switching MCM, we extracted signaling delay, via characteristics and crosstalk parameters through the interconnect characterization on the MCM-D. For the thermal management of 15.6 Watt under the high-density structure, we carried out the thermal analysis. formed 1.108 thermal vias through the substrate, and performed heat-proofing processing for the entire package so that it can keep the temperature less than $85^{\circ}C$. Lastly, in order to ensure the testability, we verified the substrate through fine pitch probing and applied the Boundary Scan Test (BST) for verifying the complex packaging/assembling processes, through which we developed an efficient and cost-effective product.

  • In this paper, different switching tables proposed for the Direct Torque Controlled (DTC) of a six-phase induction machine are simulated and implemented. A six-phase induction motor has 64 space voltage vectors which result in increased complexity in the selecting of inverters switching. The unsuitable selection of a switching table leads to large harmonics especially at low speed and it also reduces drive efficiency. A six-phase induction machine has large zero sequence harmonic currents of the order $6{\kappa}{\pm}1$. These harmonic currents are varied in various techniques. Decreasing this loss is essential in a six-phase induction machine. The main purpose of this paper is to improve the ST-DTC of six-phase induction machines to reduce the voltage and current harmonics and the torque pulsation. Selecting a suitable method for minimizing these harmonics is very important.

  • Direct torque control (DTC) scheme provides a very quick torque response without the complex field-orientation block and inner current regulation loop. DTC is known as an appropriate scheme for high power induction motor drives because it can be used at lower switching frequency There are a major drawbacks with the application of DTC schemes it is large current harmonics due to flux drooping in a low speed range. In order to solve the problem, the fuzzy variable switching sector scheme are adopted in this paper. A meaningful contribution of this paper is to propose a simple realization scheme of the fuzzy variable switching sector technique. Experimental results show the effectiveness of this proposition.

  • In general, the accuracy of the switching angles is dependent upon the resolution of the encoder and the sampling period of the microprocessor. But the region of high speed, switching angles are fluctuated back and forth from the preset values, which are cause by the sampling period of the microprocessor. Therefore, the low cost linear encoder suitable for the practical and stable SRM drive is proposed and the control algorithm to provide the switching signals using the simple analog type switching logic circuit is also presented in this paper.

  • This paper describes a three-phase converter with high power factor using a scheme of discontinuous current mode(DCM). The proposed system can replace the conventional diode bridge with step-up chopper which is used as a converter for adjustable speed drive. In this system, the current of reactor is zero at turn-on instance because of operation in DCM, while the switch turns off at the instance of maximum current. A soft-switching scheme with lossless snubber was proposed. Therefore, a zero-voltage switching at turn off can be achived by lossless snubber and zero-current switching at turn on can be obtained by operating under DCM. A theoretical analysis and computer simulations with PSpice were done to verify the operation of the proposed system. Also a prototype of hardware system was built and tested for verifying the feasibility of proposed system.

  • In this paper the performance of a variable-phase thyristor motor combined with a phase splitter and a single-phase tapped induction motor is investigated. The phase splitter consists of a bridge type thyristor switching circuit. The regulating power flow of the phase splitter is obtained from the switching phase difference of thyristor switching sequences. The proper switching performance improves the torque-speed-characteristics of the motor and its operation efficiency. We simplify the motor system th using the tapped windng reactances of the motor as the complementary element of the thyristor phase splitter. We discussed the practicality of this motor system through the analysis of simulation result and the voltage and the current wave forms obtained froms obtained from the experiment.

  • The MOS-controlled thyristor(MCT) is a new power semi-conductor device that combines four layers thyristor structure presenting regenerative action and MOS-gate providing controlled turn-on and turn-off. The MCT has very fast switching speed owing to voltage controlled MOS-gate, and very low on-state voltage drop resulting from regenerative action of four layers thyristor structure. In addition, because of a higher dv/dt rating and di/dt rating, gate drive circuit and snubber circuit can be simpler comparing to other power switching devices. So recently much interest and endeavor is being applied to develop the performance and ratings of the MCT. This paper describes the switching characteristic of the MCT for its practical applications and presents a model for PSPICE circuit simulation. The model for PSPICE circuit simulation is compared to the experimental result using MCTV75P60F1 made by Harris co..

  • A new high-performance liquid chromatographic method with column switching has been onto a Bondapak phenyl/corsil $(37-50{\;}{\mu}m)$ precolumn and polar plasma components were washed with 0.06 M borate burffer. After valve switching, the concentrated drug were eluted in the back-flush mode and separated on a ${\mu}-Bondapak$ C18 column with acetonitrilke-phosphate buffer as the mobile phae. The method showed excellent precision, accuracy and speed with detection limit of $0.01{\;}{\mug}/ml^{-1}$. Total analysis time per smaple was less than 20 min and the coefficients of variation for intra and inter-assay were less than 5.635. This method has been successfully applied to plasma smaples from eats after oral administration of omeprazole.

  • Electrophoretic displays (EPDs) are attracting considerable attentions as a paper-like display. Especially, Electrophoretic cell consists of micron-sized, charged particles dispersed in a viscous fluid. When an external electric field is applied, the charged particles move with a speed proportional to the particle mobility and the local field strength. In electrophoretic displays fast switching times are required, so knowing the particle mobility is very important. In this paper, we study a novel simulation for calculating the particle motions submerged in a viscous fluid for horizontal switching electrophoretic cell.
