  • In this paper, the development of a manually and continuously variable impact force control mechanism for hydraulic breakers was studied. Generally, a hydraulic breaker has one or two piston strokes. Hydraulic breakers, which have two strokes, have two valve-switching ports and make short and long piston strokes. The piston stroke valve controls the piston stroke by opening and closing a short stroke-switching port. The short piston stroke mode is used to break soft rock, concrete, or asphalt. This stroke control valve system is not popular for small hydraulic breakers mounted on 1 to 14-ton excavators. To preserve the carrier-like excavator, proper breaking force is needed, and it can be easily controlled by multiple piston stroke control valves. The easiest way to control these breakers is to use several switching ports and valves but they are not easy to install in small hydraulic breakers and are expensive. To use only one switching port and valve, a method can be used to change the open area of the switching port to delay valve switching. This method provides multiple piston strokes.

  • AC PDP has disadvantages that power consumption and sustain voltage are high. An energy recovery circuit for AC PDPs with reduced sustain voltage was proposed to solve these disadvantages. However, the circuit has disadvantage that the switching elements are performed hard switching at the start point of discharge and sustaining region. The reason is that the panel voltage is lower than sustain voltage at that point. In this paper, we propose the improved driving method that switching devices are operated with ZVS by using CIM(Current Infection Method) also at that point. CIM region is designed by theoretical circuit analysis. Finally, the validity of the proposed driving method is verified by the simulations and experimentation.

First of all, we extract the input/output relationship of linear characteristics for the given digital switching functions, Next, we convert the input/output relationship to Directed Cyclic Graph using basic gates adder and coefficient multiplier that are defined by mathematical properties in finite fields. Also, we propose the new factorization method for matrix characteristics equation that represent the relationship of the input/output characteristics. The proposed method have properties of generalization and regularity. Also, the proposed method is possible to any prime number multiplication expression.

  • This paper presents a numerical optimization technique and switching phase control technique aiming at improvement of efficiency of the low voltage BLDC motor. The optimization technique is performed using the generalized sensitivity technique, response surface method(RSM) and sampling minimization technique. In order to minimize current consumption of the BLDC motor, the switching method of the driving device is optimized using RSM with finite element analysis. The ratings of BLDC motor are 50 W, 24 V, 1200 rpm. As optimizing results, the input current is reduced from 2.78 to 2.51 [A] when the switching phase is shifted by -2.65 [DEG_ELC] at the rated driving speed of 1200 [rpm]. It is confirmed that the proposed method reduces the consuming current of the low voltage BLDC motor through switching phase control method using the numerical optimization method.

  • This paper proposes a new control method for an AC-DC Buck converter which is utilized as a front-end converter of a 2-stage high power density adapter. In the conventional adapter applications, 2-stage configuration shows higher power transfer efficiency and higher power density than those of the single stage flyback converter. In the 2-stage AC-DC converter, the boost converter is widely used as a front-end converter. However, an efficiency variation between high AC line and low AC line is large. On the other hand, the proposed conduction band control method for a buck front-end converter has an advantage of small efficiency variation. In the proposed control method, switching operation is determined by a band control voltage which represents output load condition, and an AC line voltage. If the output load increasesin low AC line, the switching operation range is expanded in half of line cycle. On the contrary, in light load and high line condition, the switching operation is narrowed. Thus, the proposed control method reduces switching loss under high AC line and light load condition. A 60W prototype which is configured the buck and LLC converter with the proposed control method is experimented on to verify the validity of the proposed system. The prototype shows 92.16% of AC-DC overall efficiency and 20.19 W/in 3 of power density.

  • The system efficiency of the proposed Buck-Boost AC-DC converter is increased by soft switching method. The converter includes to merit of power factor correction (PFC) from sinusoidal control of input current. The switching behavior of control switches operates with soft switching by partial resonance, and then the proposed converter has high system efficiency with decrement of switching power loss. The input current waveform in proposed converter is got to be a sinusoidal form of discontinuous quasi-pulse row in proportion to magnitude of AC input voltage under the constant duty cycle switching. Therefore, the input power factor is nearly unity. The output voltage of the converter is regulated by PWM control technique. The discontinuous mode action of current flowing into inductor makes to simplify control method and control components. The proposed PFC Buck-Boost converter is analyzed to compare with the conventional PFC Buck-Boost converter. Some computer simulative results and experimental results confirm to the validity of the analytical results.

  • It is essential to estimate an effective inductance in a ground plane of muliti-layer IC package system in order to determine the simultaneous switching noise of the package. A new method to estimate the effective ground inductance in multi-layer IC package is presented. With the estimated ground plane inductance values, maximum switching noise variations according to the number of simultaneously switching drivers are investigated by developing a new SSN model. These results are verified by performing HSPICE simulation with the 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS technology.
