A Study on 6-pulse-shift Current-source PWM Inverter for Photovoltaic System (태양광발전을 위한 6-pulse-shift 전류형 인버터에 관한 연구)

  • This paper suggests a 6-pulse-shift converter structure with PWM current-source inverter based on buck-boost configuration to improve the efficiency and to reduce the switching frequency of inverter for photovoltaic generation system, the device can be operated as interface system between solar module system and power system grid without energy storage cell. The circuit has six current-source buck-boost converter which operate chopper part and kas one full bridge inverter which make a decision the polarity of AC output. Therefore, the proposed PWM power inverter has advantages such as the reduction of witching loss and realization of unity power factor operation. The theoretical backgrounds are discussed and the input-output characteristics for the implemented prototype inverter using TMS320F2812 are verified experimentally in this paper.

  • This paper presents the implementation of the low cost and high speed RF ATE(Automatic Test Equipment) system, which can be a reasonable solution for reducing the test cost of RF devices. This paper suggests high speed and precise measurement capabilities which are realized by the 16 independent RF ports with high speed switching time and high accuracy digitizer using the industry standard Versus module eXtensions for Instrument(VXI) General Purpose Interface Bus(GPIB) interfaces. Also, the system has the capabilities of quad-site test which can dramatically increase the device throughput. This paper concludes with the demonstration of the implemented ATE system through the setup of RF Power Amplifier Module(PAM), which is under the most competitive market situation.

Development of an Automatic Refrigerant Charging Device for Refrigeration Applications (냉동기용 자동 냉매 충전장치 개발)

  • Manual type manifold gauge has been used for charging the refrigerant in the refrigeration systems. In this case, the refrigerant is released to the ambient during the hose-switching period. :he objectives of this study are to develop a novel automatic refrigerant charging system, and to quantify the effect of the automatic systems on the reduction of the non-condensable gas and the contamination of the compressor oil. The automatic charging system makes the pressure test, vacuum test, and refrigerant charging work very simple and easy because the charging hose does not have to be switched many times. It is found that the amount of water in the SiO$_2$and the compressor oil reduces to l/4 times of that for the manual type manifold gauge and the refrigerant is not released to the ambient at all when the automatic charging system is adopted.

  • Semi-active vibration control is one of the attractive control methods for space application due to its robustness as passive damping system and much higher damping performance than passive system. However, a chattering induced by the sudden variation of damping force at the time of On-Off switching of semi-active control device degrades pointing performance of the on-board payload. In this paper, to enhance the pointing performance of the on-board payload, we proposed a semi-active vibration isolation with a strategy for attenuating chattering effect. Numerical simulation results using simplified analysis model indicated that the proposed semi-active control strategy produced much better isolation performance than the conventional Bang-Bang control semi-active control laws derived from skyhook and LQ theories.

Passivation Thickness Dependent Electro-Optic Characteristics of the Fringe Field Switching (FFS) Mode using the Liquid Crystal with Positive Dielectric Anisotropy (양의 액정을 이용한 FFS모드에서 유전층 두께에 따른 전기광학적 특성 연구)

  • We have studied electro-optic characteristics as a function of passivation thickness$(t_p)$ in the fringe-field swiching (FFS) mode using the LC with positive dielectric anisotropy. When $t_p$ is increased from $0.29{\mu}m$ to $3.0{\mu}m$, a maximum transmittance is slightly increased to $2{\mu}m$. However, operating voltage is continuously increased up to above 11v. We found that the tilt angle is decreased between the edge of pixel electrode and the center of each pixel electrode. In the FFS mode using the liquid crystal with positive dielectric anisotropy, transmittance is affected by the tilt angle. When tilt angle is increased, transmittance become decrease. Therefore, in the FFS device, a low tilt angle is favored for high transmittance. It is demonstrated that the suitable passivation thickness make a tilt angle decreased.

  • Recently, many implantable medical devices have been developed and manufactured in many countries. In these devices, generally, energy is supplied by a transcutaneous method to avoid the skin penetration due to the power wires. As the most transcutaneous power transmission methods, the electromagnetic coupling between two coils and resonance at a specific frequency has been used widely. However, in case of a transcutaneous power transmitter with a fixed switching frequency to drive an electromagnetic coil, inefficient power transmission and thermal damage by the undesirable current variation may occur, because the electromagnetic coupling state between a primary coil and a secondary coil is very sensitive to skin thickness of each applied position and by person. In order to overcome these defects, a transcutaneous power transmitter of which operating frequency can be automatically tracked into the resonance frequency at each environment has been designed and implemented. Through the results of experiments for different coil surroundings, we have been demonstrated that the implemented transcutaneous power transmitter can track automatically into a varied resonance frequency according to arbitrary skin thickness change.

Harmonics Assessment for an Electric Railroad Feeding System using Moments Matching Method (모멘트 정합 방법(Moment Matching Method)을 이용한 전기철도 급전시스템의 고조파 평가)

  • Generally, an electric railroad feeding system has many problems due to the different characteristics in contrast with a load of general three-phase AC electric power system. One of them is harmonics problem caused by the switching device existing in the feeding system, and moreover, the time-varying dynamic loads of rail way is inherently another cause to increase this harmonics problem. In Korea power systems, the electric railroad feeding system is directly supplied from the substation of KEPCO. Therefore, if voltages fluctuation or unbalanced voltages are created by the voltage and current distortion or voltage drop during operation, it affects directly the source of supply. The trainloads of electric railway system have non-periodic but iterative harmonic characteristics as operating condition, because the electric characteristic of the electric railroad feeding system is changed by physical conditions of the each trainload. According to the traditional study, the estimation of harmonics has been performed by deterministic way using the steady state data at the specific time. This method is easy to analyze harmonics, but it has limits in some cases which needs an assessment of dynamic load and reliability. Therefore, this paper proposes the probabilistic estimation method, moments matching method(MW) in order to overcome the drawback of deterministic method. In this paper, distributions for each harmonics are convolved to obtain the moments and cumulants of TDD(Total Demand Distortion), and this can be generalized for any number of trains. For the case study, the electric railway system of LAT(Intra Airport Transit) in Incheon International Airport is modeled using PSCAD/EMTDC dynamic simulator. The raw data of harmonics for the moments matching method is acquired from simulation of the LAT model.

The Design of Remote Control System using Bluetooth Wireless Technology (블루투스 무선기술을 응용한 원격제어 시스템의 설계)

  • In this thesis, interference phenomena of bluetooth networks requiring Security were minimized; strengthened security of piconet by assigning an identical PIN code to bluetooth devices, which was establishing a specific piconet during authentication stage. To establish a bluetooth piconet system. an unique ID was assigned to each bluetooth device, communication algorithms having different data formats between devices was designed, and an embedded hardware module using ARM processor and uCOS-II RTOS was implemented. About 30% of CPU efficiency in the module was increased by modifying functions including block parameters to work as nonblocking; by the increased efficiency of total piconet, the module could be used as an access point. The module could transmit maximum 10 frames of image and also audio signal by switching the packet effectively according to channel condition. By above-mentioned process, video, audio, and data could be well transmitted by the bluetooth managing program and the possibility of a commercial remote control system using bluetooth technology was suggested.

  • Recently, as the piezoelectric transformer technology develops, piezoelectric transformer may become a variable alternative to magnetic transformers in various applications. Because it was have to favorable characteristics such as electromagnetic-noise free, compact size, higher efficiency, and superior power density, linkage flux, noiseless, etc. its resonance frequency was used to output waveform of a sine wave. In this paper, the switching mode power supply of about 87.2[KHz] is driven by the multilayer thickness vibration mode piezoelectric transformer and the DC to DC converter drive circuit using an electrical equivalent circuit is proposed. Also, it was possible to drive power source device of the high-luminance LED by propose circuits.

  • An industrial growth needs high quality of productivity and accuracy. So, the needs of power electronics became pressing. Recently both interest and demand about the technique of power electronics systems has been increased. Though power electronics has a lot of strong point, there are several problems which are harmonic effect, EMI(Electromagnetic Interference), malfunction of electric machinery, harmful effect on human, audible noise and so on. Because these problem are a potent influence on motor, so there needs the manufacture and redesign of motor. The real motors of industrial application have designed and manufactured on the basis of confidence. The study on motor using utility power source was verified sufficient to identify confidence of electric machinery on utility power source. However, a study on confidence is in progress about pulse source by switching device. An advanced company are studying to solve this problem. In this research, it is studied that each variables effecting motor reliability have correlation through experiment and more over forecasting the reliability of motor under inverter operation.
