This paper propose a bidirectional dc-to-dc converter employing dual inductor for current ripple reduction. Conventional bidirectional dc-to-dc converter uses a single inductor for two different modes; boost and buck; therefore it is difficult to satisfy the optimized inductance value for each mode. To improve this problem, the proposed converter adds two switches, a diode, and one inductor. By proper switching of the additional switch, the proposed converter operates with a inductor in boost mode, but it works with dual inductor in buck mode. Hence in both modes the proposed bidirectional converter can be operated with optimized inductance values. Most of all the optimized inductance in buck mode can reduce the current ripple and its effective value(rms), which are directly related to the temperature increase resulted in short lifetime of battery. To verify the validity of the proposed approach, we first analyzes the operation of the proposed converter theoretically, and implement computer-aided simulations and experiments using a prototype.
CSIX-L1 is the Common Switch Interface that defines a physical interface for transferring information between a traffic manager (Network Processor) and a switching fabric in ATM, IP, MPLS, Ethernet and data communication areas. In Tx, data to be transmitted is generated in Cframe which is the base information unit and in Rx, original data is extracted from the received Cframe. CSIX-L1 suppots the 32, 64, 96, and 123-bit interface and generates a variable length CFrame and Idle Cframe. Also CSIX-L1 appends Padding byte and supports 16-bit Vertical parity, CSIX-L1 is designed using Xilinx 4,1i. After functional and timing simulations are completed. CSIX-L1 module is downloaded in Xilinx FPGA XCV1000EHQ240C and verified. The synthesized CSIX module operates at 27MHz.
Besides insufficient water, water contamination confronts us with 'water crises' of both quantity and quality. However, the daily water consumption per capita of Korea is greater than that of other developed countries. Because of the current low water price, which is lower than a half of production cost, not only does it become difficult to cope promptly with rapidly increasing water demand and water contamination, but it also causes waste of water. We should, therefore, switch over from supply side management-oriented policy to demand side management-oriented policy through a raise of the water rate. This study carries out a cost analysis based on fair return method which is the principle of water pricing in Korea, and it estimates, through equilibrium analysis, long run marginal cost(LRMC), which satisfies allocative efficiency and reflects true social cost to additional one-unit water supply. Based on the results, this study proposes that the estimated LRMC is the optimal price level in water pricing, which is the most important of the demand side management policies. In the end, water conservation effect, price pervasive effect, and social welfare effect are analyzed.
Multimedia applications have an ability to transmit a lot of data in real time. In mobile circumstances the replay of continuous multimedia data in real time causes frequent replay breaks and poor service quality because of low transmission speed and new transmission path settings in hand-off. To avoid these unfavorable side effects, we need a new mechanism which can transmit data efficiently between base station and mobile hosts, to control the buffers of mobile hosts, and to switch to a new transmission path rapidly in hand-off. The study is to propose how to give good service to mobile hosts during hand-off and the mechanism which can increase the number of mobile hosts in the cell unit.

This study proposes an improved synchronization control scheme for a low-cost 400Hz power supply for a no-break power transfer system. In the case of aircraft applications, the 400Hz power supply called ground power units is accepted and used as the external electrical power system during stopovers on ground. A momentary break in the supply occurs when shifting from one power source to another. To allow shifting without a break in the supply, the two power sources are momentarily connected in parallel. The proposed synchronization control is achieved by connecting an existing synchronization bus to the voltage zero-crossing signal of a generator power with discrete logic ICs and analog circuits. Therefore, unlike expensive controllers, such as DSP and CAN, the proposed control scheme is rather simple and may decrease operational cost. The practical feasibility of the proposed control scheme is proven by experimental results.

This paper focuses on the Current-Voltage concurrent control method devoted to the multiple LED (light-emitting diode) string driver. Isolated DC to DC converter with cascaded chopping switch is proposed for smart lighting system such as light with sensor or back light unit of display, which need to control the current of parallel connected multiple LED stings and regulate DC voltage for micro controller for brightness control. The proposed circuit regulates the current of parallel connected multiple LED strings and additional DC voltage output simultaneously. To verify the performance, experimental results are presented based on the prototype board. 5V, 1A voltage mode electric load and two LED strings with different forward voltages are used for output loads. 23W output power is achieved and measured efficiency is in the range of 85%-87%

In this paper, a new algorithm of Integrated Volt/Var Control (IVVC) is proposed using Volt/Var control for the Distribution Automation System (DAS) based on the modeling of the distributed load and the distributed current. In the proposed, the load flow based on the modeling of the distributed load with Distributed Generation and the distributed current are estimated from constants of four terminals using the measurement of the current and power factor from a Feeder Remote Terminal Unit (FRTU). For Integrated Volt/Var Control (IVVC), the gradient method is applied to find optimal solution for tap and capacity control of OLTC (On-Load Tap Changers), SVR (Step Voltage Regulator), and SC (Shunt Condenser). What is more Volt/Var control method is proposed using moving the tie switch as well as IVVC algorithm using power utility control. In the case studies, the estimation and simulation network have been testified in Matlab Simulink.

Demand side management (DSM) is the planning and implementation of those utility designed to influence customer use of electricity in ways that will produce desired changes in the utility's load shape. It is conspicuous that the peak load control of DSM is efficiently adopted. In this paper, the package type air conditioner(A/C) mounted radio controlled switch. During the summer of 1990 KEPCO conducted tests in Seoul areas to determine the economic feasibility of interrupting A/C units for short periods of time during peak load periods. These tests were performed between July 30 and September 20 and were limited to the hours of between 1 and 6 p.m. These tests indicated that each A/C contributes approximately 4.5kW to the system peak and can be switched off 10 minutes out of each 1/2 hour without causing the customer any discomfort. Switching each A/C off for 10 minutes out of each 1/2 hour results in a peak load demand reduction of one kW per unit.

This paper describes a current fed high frequency resonant inverter can be used as the power supply for wax-sealing. This circuit configuration is composed of conventional two unit inverter of single ended current find type in parallel. The proposed inverter can realize ZVS operation by using resonant capacitor to ZVS capacitor and has merits not only reduction of switch current distribution but also extension of load range in comparison with the conventional single-ended current fed high frequency resonant inverter. This analysis of proposed circuit uses normalized parameter and characteristic estimation which is needed in each step before design is generally described according to normalized frequency($\mu$), normalized resistance(λ) and parameters. On the basis of characteristic values, a method of the circuit design is presented. Also, the theoretical analysis is proved through experiment and this proposed circuit shows that it can be practically used as the power supply system for wax-sealing and DC-DC converter.
