액막두께 측정방법을 이용한 스월 인젝터의 분무특성 연구 (Spray characteristics of swirl injector using liquid film thickness measurement)

  • 본 연구에서는 스월 인젝터의 기하학적 형상에 따른 분무특성 파악을 위해 액막두께 측정방법을 사용하였다. 액막두께 측정을 위해 특별히 제작된 인젝터를 사용하였으며, 백홀과 스월챔버 그리고 오리피스의 길이에 따른 분무특성을 확인하였다. 분무특성 파악을 위해 분사압에 따른 유량변화, 오리피스 하단의 액막두께와 분무각을 측정하였다.

  • An Experimental study was conducted on spray combustion using dual swirlers at different outlet angle; co-swirl and counter-swirl. To understand the characteristics of turbulent spray combustion of dual swirl flow (DSF), the axial helical annular vaned swirlers with various swirl ratios and combination of angle and direction were designed. and temperature measurements of a rapidly thermocouple insertion and measurements of soot volume fraction and microrstructure using thermophoretic sampling particle diagnostic (TSPD) as TEM were carried out. The NOx, $CO_2$, $O_2$, etc. was analyzed using emission gas analyzer. The results show that flame stability were maintained under very lean condition. for both co-swirl and counter-swirl case. And though Counter-swirl case kept the higher temperature region compared to co-swirl case, Counter-swirl combustion represented less NOx emission and soot formation than co-swirl case.

  • Purdue 대학교의 Ismailov 등이 수행한 closed-type 스월 인젝터의 동특성에 대한 모델링 및 계산 결과를 실험을 통해 확인하고자 하는 과정의 일환으로 수행된 연구이다. Closed-type 스월 인젝터의 스월 챔버의 길이와 지름의 영향이 인젝터의 동특성에 미치는 영향을 관찰하고자 스월 챔버의 길이와 지름을 변화시킬 수 있는 인젝터를 제작하였다. 이러한 과정에서 closed-type 스월 인젝터의 동특성에 대한 실험을 진행하기에 앞서서 정적인 분무 특성을 확인하였다. 인젝터 전단에 설치된 유량계를 통하여 유량을 확인하였으며, Lefebvre의 방식에 따라 closed-type 스월 인젝터의 오리피스에 전극을 설치하여 매니폴드 압력에 따른 액막 두께의 변화를 측정하였다. 또한 압력별로 촬영된 순간적인 분무 사진을 통하여 매니폴드 압력에 따른 분사각과 분열길이의 변화를 관찰하였다.

  • In high-pressure diesel engine, the injected fuel spray impinges on the piston cavity surface due to the short distance between the injection nozzle and the cavity wall. The behavior of the impinging spray has the great influence on the dispersion of fuel, the evaporation, and the mixture formation process. In this study, the numerical simulation using the GTT code was performed to study the gas flows, the spray behaviors, and the fuel vapor distributions in the combustion of a D.I engine for variation of spray angle and swirl ratio.

바이오 디젤 혼합율이 압력식 스월노즐의 분무 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Bio-diesel Blending Rate on the Spray Characteristics of the Pressure Swirl Nozzle)

  • This paper presents the spray characteristics of the gun type burner nozzle with bio-diesel blending rate. The burner nozzle used in this experiment is a pressure swirl type nozzle. For the spray characteristics, visualization of spray was conducted to obtain the spray angle, and laser diffraction spectroscope (LDS) was used for the measurement of the droplet diameters. The results showed that the $D_{max}$, SMD and spray angle were decreased with increasing the bio-diesel blending rate and BD30 (30% bio-diesel blending rate) could be found to be the maximum blending rate for using without any modification of the gun type burner of the homesize kerosene fuel boiler.

Comparison of Spray Characteristics between Conventional and Electrostatic Pressure-Swirl Nozzles

  • Spray characteristics produced by conventional and electrostatic pressure-swirl nozzles for an oil burner have been studied, using kerosine as a test liquid. The charge injection mechanism is used to design the electrostatic nozzle, where specific charge density, breakup length, spray angle and mean diameter are measured and analyzed. Three nozzles with orifice diameters of 0.256, 0.308 and 0.333mm at injection pressures of 0.7, 0.9, 1.1 and 1.3 MPa are used in the study. In case of the electrostatic nozzle, voltages ranging from -5 to -12kV are applied. Comparison of the spray characteristics is made between the conventional and electrostatic nozzles. The results showed that, the electrostatic nozzle is superior to the conventional nozzle. This is due the effect of voltage on the liquid surface tension.

  • This paper describes spray characteristics of a swirl injector which is intended for use in a HCCI engine. Many optical diagnostics such as laser diffraction methods, and high speed camera photography are applied to measure the spray drop diameter and to investigate the spray development process. The effect of fuel properties on the spray characteristics was investigated using three different fuels because HCCI combustion is tolerant of the chemical composition of various fuels. From these results, the HCCI injector formed a hollow cone sheet spray rather than a liquid jet and the atomization efficiency is high for the low-pressure injector. The SMD of test injector was ranged from $15{\mu}m$ ${\mu}m$ We also found that the spray breakup characteristics were dependent on the fuel properties such as density, viscosity, and surface tension.

  • The spray and acoustic characteristics of a gas/liquid swirl coaxial injector are studied experimentally. The self-pulsation is defined as a pressure and flow rate oscillations by a time-delayed feedback between liquid and gas phase. Self-pulsation has strong influences on atomization and mixing processes and accompanies painful screams. So. the spray and acoustic characteristics are investigated. Spray patterns are observed by shadow photography technique in order to determine the onset of self-pulsation. And self-pulsation boundary with Injection conditions and recess length is get. To measure the frequency of the spray oscillation. oscillation of the laser intensity which passes through spray is analyzed by Fast Fourier Transform. For acoustic tests, a PULSE System was used. Acoustic characteristics of a swirl coaxial injector are investigated according to the injection conditions. such as the pressure drop or the liquid and gas phase. and injector geometries. such as recess length and gap size between the inner and outer injector. Front the experimental results. the increase of recess length leads to the rapid increase of the sound pressure level. And as the pressure drop of the liquid phase increases. the frequency of the self?pulsation shifts to the higher frequency. The frequency of spray oscillations is the same as that of the acoustic fields by self-pulsation.

  • Flash boiling takes place when the thermodynamic state of the liquid deviates from its saturation limit over which the liquid temperature exceeds by a certain degree of superheat. The liquid jet introduced into the lower pressure zone than the liquid saturation pressure experiences a sequence of the atomization and disintegrated into numerous faster and smaller droplets. In the present study spray characteristics for a flash swirl spray were experimentally investigated. Injectant temperature is raised by a high frequency dielectric heating method and local spray characteristics are instantly measured by Global Sizing Velocimetry (GSV, TSI Inc.). Dependence of dimensionless superheat degree and injection pressure on total and local SMDs and mean droplet size is quantitatively examined. The flash swirl spray has the relation in the injection pressure and nozzle diameter in order to determine the spray quality, including the dimensionless superheat degree. Small droplets occur in the void core and local droplet size distributions largely depend on the dimensionless superheat degree and the injection pressure.

  • 소형로켓엔진에 적용되는 기체-액체 스월 동축형 인젝터의 분무성능을 파악하고자 형상변수와 추진제의 공급조건을 변화시켜 수류시험을 수행하였다. 인젝터의 형상변수인 스월 챔버의 직경 및 수축부의 각이 증가할수록 스월 강도가 증대되어 분무성능이 향상되었다. 또한, 기체-액체의 운동량 플럭스 비가 증가함에 따라 기체 유동이 액적 일부를 분무액막에서 이탈시켜, 분무시트의 중심부에서 gas-droplet mixture core가 형성되었다.
