Sweeping Center Setting Automation for Wavelength Swept Laser used in SS-OCT (SS-OCT용 파장 스위핑 레이저를 위한 스위핑 중심 세팅 자동화)

  • In this paper, the automation of sweeping center setting for wavelength swept laser used in SS-OCT has implemented. For 3 regions where the initial FFP-TF pass wavelength can be located, each different DC voltage pattern is applied to FFP-TF. Through its performance test to the laser, fast and exact setting to sweeping central wavelength, flat sweeping with ${\pm}0.5dB$ fluctuation range, and 10 mW average optical power were obtained. This shows that the realized automatic setting process can replace an inconvenient manual setting operation used for current wavelength swept laser. Additionally it cuts costs for optical spectrum analyzer necessary to laser spectrum monitoring.

Heat transfer and flow characteristics of sweeping jet issued from rectangular nozzle with thin plate (박판이 부착된 사각노즐에서 분사되는 Sweeping jet의 유동 및 열전달 특성)

  • This study investigated heat transfer and flow characteristics of a sweeping jet issued from a rectangular nozzle with a thin plate. A thin vertical aluminum plate was attached on outlet of fluidic oscillator to increase velocity of central area with Coanda effect and enhance heat transfer performance. From visualization and PIV experiments, sweeping jet with a thin plate has larger velocity distribution in center region than that of the normal sweeping jet while oscillating frequency is similar as the normal one. Thermographic phosphor thermometry method was used to visualize the temperature field and Nu distribution of plate with impinging sweeping jet with thin plate. Four Reynolds numbers and three jet-to-wall distances were selected as parameters. It is found that heat transfer performance in the low jet-to-wall spacing was enhanced as the cooled area was expanded. However, when the jet-to-wall spacing became greater than 8dh, heat transfer performance became similar due to reduced impinging velocity.

  • This study have been carried out as a part of R&D project to develop a low cost high efficiency combined grain drying & storage system. The design of sweeping auger must meet the various conditions : capacity and dimensions of silo, discharging capacity of auger, operation conditions of auger such as revolution and rotation and density of grains and even the first-in & first-out of grains in the system. Through the experimental observations with the apparatus which enables the direct observation of discharging behavior of grains, the limitations of the performance of existing straight type auger was observed. Generalized mathematical model for the profile of new variable section sweeping auger was obtained, which ensures the uniform descending of grains and also meets various operating conditions. The experimental results with a prototype sweeping auger showed that the mathematical model for the variable section sweeping auger was quitely correct.

Characteristics of Collected Sediments from Road Sweeping and Reduction in the Nonpoint Source Pollutants Loading (도로청소 수거퇴적물의 특성과 비점오염물질 저감효과)

  • The stormwater runoff from road or expressway is known as one of important nonpoint pollution sources. To reduce the pollutants discharge from road or expressway, many best management practices(BMPs) have been applied and planned. Among the BMPs, road sweeping can be effective way to prevent pollutant washoff to environment. This study is performed to evaluate the characteristics of particles collected from the road by sweeping car. Size distribution and pollutant concentration of particles were analyzed. Based on the pollutant concentration and the specification of road such as length, width, and unit for pollutant generation, total amount of pollutant to be removed by road sweeping was estimated. Most of sediments collected by road sweeping was classified into sandy soil and fraction of fine grained soil was low. Although the concentrations of pollutants such as heavy metals in road sediments did not exceed the soil contamination criteria, washout of pollutants during sweeping work by spraying water might cause leaching of pollutants contained in sediments and thus resulted in low pollutant concentrations. Reduced amounts of pollutant by road sweeping showed 31.4% TSS reduction for ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ region and 7.7% TSS for ${\triangle}{\triangle}$ region. Other pollutants showed low reduction rate, because of their leaching by water spraying. Results from this study indicate that detailed and well-planned investigation for the road sweeping is necessary for the accurate estimation of pollutant reduction from road or expressway.

Efficient Sweeping Algorithm for Multi-Security Mobile Robots (군집 이동형 사회안전 로봇을 위한 효율적인 수색 알고리즘 개발)

  • In this paper, we aim at providing a novel sweeping method for multi-security mobile robots. The sweeping problem of the multi-robots can be modeled as the stick pulling problem in which the swarm robots should sweep unknown terrains in order to remove sticks collaboratively. For the purpose, we define a certain map, what is called stick map. And we suggest how to make swarm robots build up and utilize the map in order to improve the productivity of collaborative removing sticks. Finally, the efficiency of our algorithm is verified with simulation experiments.

  • The transient behavior of the complex-LMS adaptive filter is studied when the adaptive filter is operating on a fixed or sweeping complex frequency sine-wave signal. The first-order difference equation is derived for the mean weights and its closed form solution is obtained. The transient response is represented as a function of the eigenvectors and eigenvalues of input correlation matrix. The mean-square error of the algorithm is evaluated as well. An optimal convergence parameter and filter length can be determined for sweeping frequency sine-wave signals as a function of frequency change rate and signal and noise powers.

On Sweeping Operators for Reducing Premature Convergence of Genetic Algorithms (유전 알고리즘의 조기수렴 저감을 위한 연산자 소인방법 연구)

  • GA (Genetic Algorithms) are efficient for searching for global optima but may have some problems such as premature convergence, convergence to local extremum and divergence. These phenomena are related to the evolutionary operators. As population diversity converges to low value, the search ability of a GA decreases and premature convergence or converging to local extremum may occur but population diversity converges to high value, then genetic algorithm may diverge. To guarantee that genetic algorithms converge to the global optima, the genetic operators should be chosen properly. In this paper, we analyze the effects of the selection operator, crossover operator, and mutation operator on convergence properties, and propose the sweeping method of mutation probability and elitist propagation rate to maintain the diversity of the GA's population for getting out of the premature convergence. Results of simulation studies verify the feasibility of using these sweeping operators to avoid premature convergence and convergence to local extrema.

  • This paper describes a sweeping path planning algorithm for an autonomous smearing robot on commercial autoCAD system. An automatic planner generates a sweeping path pattern by proposed five basic procedures, (1) interfacing architectural CAD system, (2) off-line obstacle map building, (3) scanning the whole workspace for subgoals of sweeping line, (4) tracking sequence of the subgoals, and (5) obstacle avoiding. A sweeping path is planned by sequentially connecting the tracking points in such a way that (1) the connected line segments should be crossed, (2) the total tracking points should be as short as possible, (3) the tracking line should not pass through the obstacle. Feasibility of the developed techniques has been demonstrated on real architectural CAD draft.

Modelling and Simulation of H2 separation in Pd Membrane System with Co-current and Current-current Flow (병류와 향류 흐름에서 수소분리를 위한 Pd 분리막 시스템의 모델링 및 모사)

  • In this paper, we carried out CFD modelling and simulation for the membrane system to separate H2 gas from the multi-component feed gas. The membrane system is of the annulus tubular type consisting of the external lumen side for the feed gas and the internal permeation side for the sweeping gas. The operating temperature and pressure of the lumen side inlet flow are $374^{\circ}C$ and 7 bar respectively and those of the sweeping gas are $374^{\circ}C$ and 3 bar, and considering these conditions, Pd membrane system was employed. CFD simulations were performed for the co-current flow and counter-current flow membrane system based on the flow directions between the feed and the sweeping gas. Comparisons and discussions were made for the H2 partial pressure, H2 mole fraction and H2 flux for both cases. Furthermore, we executed CFD simulations for the each case of the various inlet flow rates of the feed gas at the lumen side. Accordingly, we reviewed the effects of the flow rate and residence time on the performance of the membrane system.
