스칸디나비아의 디자인은 디자인 역사에서 독특한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 특히 스웨덴은 스칸디나비아 국가들 중 가장 먼저 그들만의 고유한 20세기 디자인운동과 양식을 발전시킨 나라였다. '스웨디쉬 모던(Swedigh Modern)', '스웨디쉬 그레이스(Swedish Grace)'등의 개념으로 특징지어지는 스웨덴의 디자인은 20세기 초 독립에서 시작된 기능주의 운동을 받아들여 보다 우아하고 따뜻한 인간미 넘치는 디자인 양식을 만들어 내었다. 휴머니즘과 함께 단순성, 아름다움, 민주주의 적 이상이 조화된 이 양식은 국제적으로도 큰 성공을 거두어 유럽뿐 아니라 미국의 디자인 발전에도 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구에서는 스웨덴 디자인이 발전되어온 과정과 스웨덴의 디자인 교육, 기업체에서의 디자인 등을 통해 스웨덴 디자인의 특성이 과연 무엇이고 그것은 또 어디에서 비롯되는 것인지에 대해 살펴보고자 한다.

This article aimed at understanding the characteristics of Swedish furniture design since 1980s in the reference to the major paradigm changes in the contemporary design field. For this, the authors examined the theoretical background of modern and post-modern design paradigms to identify today's design tendencies. And we used this frame in the analysis of the latest examples of Swedish furniture design. The main characteristics of Swedish furniture design since 1980s included 'furniture as art object', 'the succession of the Swedish Modern (neo-modernism)', and 'conscious design for sustainable development'. These could be viewed as the consequences of the choices that the Swedish furniture industry and designers made during the last decade, that was to take plurality and contradiction as the accompanying values of the traditional Swedish modern design.

The purpose of this study is to identify characteristic of Swedish modern furniture design through design works made by 8 prominent Swedish furniture designers during the 20th century. The study was completed through literature reviews and searching for web-sites of Swedish distinguished furniture companies. 8 furniture designers, eg. Erik Gunnar Asprund, Carl Malmsten, Josef Frank, John Kandell, Mats Theselius, Bruno Mathsson, $\AA$ke Axelsson and Yngve Extr$\ddot{o}$m were selected to identify the characteristics of Swedish modern furniture design. The results are as follows: 1) they pursuit simple and functional design beyond time. 2) they pursuit functionalism modified with Swedish traditional craftsmanship. 3) natural wood is considered as the most beloved material for the furniture together with other natural materials such as hemp, leather and cane. 5) easy maintenance and durability of the furniture are considered as important factors to make it last long. 6) ecological concept is fulfilled to meet environmental legislation.

스웨덴의 현대 디자인은 열강의 틈바구니에서 민족적 정체성을 확립하고 복지사회 모델을 확립하려는 노력의 일환으로서 발전하였다. 따라서 그러한 사회적·사상적 기반을 충분히 이해하지 않은 채 표면에 드러난 형태만으로 스웨덴 디자인을 이해하고자 할 경우에는 피상적 서술에 그치기 쉽고, 그들이 왜 세계 디자인의 중요한 하나의 흐름이 되는지 이해하지 못하게 된다. 1930년대부터 1970년대까지 40여 년간은 전통적인 농업 국가였던 스웨덴이 당시 집권당이었던 사회민주당의 사회개혁 정책을 통해 근대화에 성공하고 문화적으로도 그 역량을 전세계에 떨쳤던 시기였다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 발전과정이 스웨덴 현대 디자인 형성에 미친 영향을 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 수 공예 전통을 효율적으로 대량생산 체제에 부합시킴으로써 민족적 주체성을 확립하려 했던 당시의 스웨덴 지식인들과 디자인 계의 동향을 함께 분석함으로써 근대화 과정에서 스웨덴 디자인이 지향했던 바를 종합적으로 파악하고자 했다. 비교적 모범적으로 근대화에 성공하고 독특한 디자인 스타일을 만들어낸 나라로 평가되고 있는 스웨덴의 사례는 우리에게 시사하는 바가 적지 않을 것이다.

This study was carried out to review the characteristics of the Swedish modern furniture design and the works of Bruno Mathsson, who is appreciated as one of the most important furniture designers in the history of modern Swedish design. First, the authors examined how the Swedish designers set the value of warm, graceful humanity, practical simplicity, and the traditional craftsmanship in their furniture design with modernist ideology. Second, by examining the range of Bruno Mathsson's works from the 1930s to the 1980s, the authors searched for how these works show the realized models of the ideals of Swedish modern furniture. In this, this article explains that Mathsson's works and the modern Swedish furniture could have been regarded and beloved as being innovative and modern for more than 50 years for their friendliness to human body by the ergonomic structure and to human feeling by the quality of natural materials and finishes. In addition, their consistent effort to adopt traditional craftsmanship into functionalist ideals of modern design shows how these furniture designs could have keep the lasting quality in the life of people in different time frames.

이 연구의 목적은 인테리어 분야에서 스웨덴의 현대 디자인 발전에 지대한 영향을 미친 스벤스크 텐의 철학과 인본적 기능주의 디자인의 형성과정과 특성을 알아보고자 함이다. 연구를 함에 있어 스벤스크 텐이 형성되던 동시대 건축과 가구디자인의 디자인 패러다임을 연구하고 이 고유의 브랜드가 당시 유럽의 기능주의 디자인의 흐름 속에서 어떻게 스웨디시 모던 스타일의 대표 주자로 자리 잡게 되었는지에 대한 과정을 이론적으로 분석하였다. 이를 토대로 1930년대 이후 스벤스크 텐의 독창적 정체성을 형성하는 데 결정적 기여를 한 요셉 프랭크의 가구 및 텍스타일 디자인을 동시대 스웨덴의 디자인 사례와 비교하여 스벤스크 텐이 실현하고자 한 인본적 기능주의 디자인을 형태적 재료적 측면에서 분석하고 이를 개념화하였다. 이에 대한 결론은 다음과 같다. 1)공간과 요소, 양식과 기능의 유기성, 2)아말감화를 통한 독창적 공간, 3)추상적 패턴을 통한 공간의 열린 감성, 4)공간을 파괴하지 않는 가구의 형태, 5)합리적 기능주의의 한계 극복.

스웨덴 국립 디자인 대학은 150여 년의 역사를 가진 세계에서 가장 오래된 디자인 교육기관의 하나로 스칸디나비아 디잔인 발전에 주도적인 역할을 해왔다. 콘스트 팍(Konstfack)이라 불리워 지는 이 학교는 바우하우스의 영향을 받아 근대적인 모습으로 탈바꿈했으며 1970년대에 이르러 오늘날과 같은 실험적인 교과과정과 독특한 교육방식을 완성했다. 이 학교의 상징 엠블 렘에는 'Insight och Flit'라는 말이 새겨져 있는데 이것은 창조적인 직관과 끊임없는 노력을 중시하는 콘스트 팍의 정신을 그대로 표현한 것이라고 할 수 있다. 우리 나라와 스웨덴은 정치, 경제, 사회제도나 문화적인 측면에서도 매우 다르다. 1800년대 후반의 스웨덴은 유럽 내에서 가장 늦게 산업혁명을 겪은 변두리 국가로서 경제적으로도 매우 낙후된 국가였다. 문화적으로도 영국이나, 프랑스, 독일 등의 유럽의 강국들과 비교하면 열세였고 국가적인 정체성도 채 확보되지 않은 상황이었다. 그러나 1900년대 초반의 스웨덴의 지식인들은 스웨덴 적인 것이 무엇인가 하는 문제로 고민하였고 이들의 그러한 노력은 1950년대에 와서 스칸디나비안 그레이스, 스웨디쉬 모던이라고 하는 스타일을 만들어 내게 하였다. 이러한 과정에서 스웨덴 국립 디자인 대학은 스웨덴 디자인 협회, 디자인 전문잡지 <스벤스크 포름>등과 함께 스웨덴 디자인 발전에 견인차 역할을 해왔다.

본 논문에서는 ‘제품 디자인’개발과정에 인간공학을 적용하는 도구 개발 프로젝트의 일환으로 연구된 ‘컴퓨터를 이용한 인간공학 디자인 교육 도구’의 연구 결과물을 정리하여 제시하고자 한다. 제품 디자이너에게 필요한 인간공학기법은 삼차원 공간상에서 표현돼야 할 요소가 많다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 컴퓨터를 이용하여 인간공학기법을 제품 디자이너가 쉽게 익히고 활용할 수 있게 함을 목적으로 한다. 본 컴퓨터를 이용한 교습 도구의 개발은 1)디자이너에게 필요한 인간공학 기법들을 찾아내고, 2)이 기법들을 디자이너가 이해하기 쉽게 정리한 다음, 3)교습도구를 개발하는 순 으로 진행되었다. 도구 개발 기간은 총 6개월이 소요됐으며, 보다 나은 교습도구의 개발을 위해서 사용자 평가도 행해졌다.

With the continuous development of artificial intelligence using computers in the Fourth Industrial Age, the virtual space created by virtual reality experiences boosted by the power of artificial intelligence, provides a new experience for us. The purpose of this study is to explore the new aesthetics that the fashion industry provides to users in virtual space created by virtual reality technology. This research method is based on theoretical research on virtual reality technology and virtual space and constructs a research model applied to this research. The scope of this study is the application of virtual reality technology to fashion shows, fashion exhibitions, and fashion design apps on the website of professional virtual reality technology and fashion for the last five years from 2014 to 2019, which actively merged virtual reality technology with modern fashion. We will analyze the cases one by one. The results of this study are as follows. First, this study shows that the constructed virtual space of modern fashion using virtual reality technology creates three kinds of physical space, perceptual space, and imaginary space based on the commutative theory of virtual space formed by Swedish scholar J. $Widestr{\ddot{o}}m$. Second, virtual reality technology applied to fashion shows, fashion exhibitions, and fashion design apps is characterized by four aesthetic characteristics of presence, perceptual expansion, interactivity, and immersion in physical space, perception space, and imagination space.
