  • It's necessary to analyze the mechanical behaviors of automotive air-conditioner hose, which have to play a proper role under severe operating conditions, in order to prepare a preventive measure for contrary effects expected in unfavorable circumstances. In this paper, the stress and deformation characteristics of the hose components such as rubber, sleeve, pipe and reinforces braids during the swaging process, are analyzed using the finite element method.

  • The automotive air conditioning hose is used for connecting the components of air conditioner in a vehicle. The hose is usually manufactured by the swaging process to connect the rubber hose with the metal fitting at the end of the hose. In case that the clamping force is small, the refrigerant gas in the hose can leak locally under the severe operating circumstances. The practical test of clamping force is performed by means of the measurement of separation force. In this study, the swaging process of a hose is simulated with the finite element method, to investigate the effect of friction coefficient on the clamping force. The contact condition is used in consideration of real manufacturing process, and the material properties for the Mooney-Rivlin model is obtained by the experimental results. The result interpretations are focused on the contact forces, which is displayed graphically with respect to friction coefficient, on the surfaces between the hose and the metal fittings.

  • The power steering hose assembly is usually manufactured through the swaging process, which is conducted to connect a hose with metal fittings. In this process the hose is inserted into metal components, the sleeve and the nipple, and compressed in the radial direction by the jaws to clamp the hose with metal components. In case that the clamping force is small, the oil in the hose can leak locally under the severe operating conditions. To confirm the clamping force requirements, the measurement of separation force in longitudinal direction of the hose is usually performed. In this study, the swaging process of a hose is simulated with the finite element method, to investigate the effect of friction coefficient on the separation fDrce. The results interpretations are ffcused on the inner rubber component, and also a formula is proposed to estimate the separation farces with respect to friction coefficients.

  • In this paper, the stress and deformation characteristics of the high pressure hose that have the hose components such as rubber, braid and steel( sleeve and nipple) during the manufacturing process, and analyzed using the [mite element method The swaging process is modeled with a contact problem in identical conditions of real circumstances, and the properties of hose materials based on the experimental data are used in this analysis. Also, to understand the effect of the nipple protrusions on the deformation characteristics of a power steering hose among the steel materials shape of the existing model, and changed the steel materials shape partially, and compared with the existing model.

  • The automobile cowl cross bar which is a backbone frame part inside the cockpit module has been designed with more complex geometries recently due to demands of its enhanced functions and reduced weight of car. The traditional manufacturing process using welding between tubes with different diameters shows several problems such as poor mechanical characteristics and appearance, etc. Therefore, in this study, manufacturing processes which can eliminate the welding process were developed by applying one-piece metal forming processes such as tube drawing and radial swaging. As results, it was found that the one-piece manufacturing processes give better bending strength than the traditional welding process and the swaging process shows the lowest manufacturing cost.

  • It's necessary to invent a measure to deal with expected counter results when observing mechanical behaviors under the various operations and it can be done by measuring the stress and deformation characteristics of the Automotive Air-Conditioner Hose, which is a hose made up of a rubber hose, an aluminum sleeve and pipe. In this paper, characteristics of the stress and deformation characteristics of the Automotive Air-Conditioner Hose which plays an important role in circulation of refrigerant of an air conditioner in an automobile are analyzed using the finite element method.

  • Recently, the manufacturing market for low-cost airlines has led to an increase in aircraft demand. Most processes in the production of these aircrafts are manual such as drilling, sealing, and swaging. A drilling and riveting machine is a numerical-control based equipment that automatically performs drilling, sealing, and swaging operations. The accuracy of the drilled holes and the exit burr length has a significant impact on the quality of the aircraft wing during assembly. This study was conducted to identify the conditions necessary to maintain a uniform quality by controlling the rotation speed of the spindle, which directly affects the hole diameter and the quality of the exit burr.

  • Power steering hose is device that operation oil passes between steering gear box and oil pump by parts that is used to do steering system. Because this hose is receiving heat and pressure of high temperature, leakage can produce swaging from hitch of steel materials of done part. In this paper, we analyze swaging process of Power steering hose by finite element analysis, and achieved thermal and pressure analysis with this shape. We can analogize weakness part of hose through this result, and examine closely oil leakage and rubber failure mechanism and look for important design benevolence of power steering hose development.

  • A high-pressure hose includes rebar layers of the synthetic fiber such as nylon or a steel wire to control internal pressure. The hose assembly is manufactured through the swaging process to clamp the hose into the metal fittings. Usually, the hose behavior is affected by the resultant of the longitudinal and circumferential forces produced by the internal pressure. The rebar layers can appear the most ideal rebar effect when they are arranged to the same direction as the resultant force. The braid angle applied in the rebar layers is an important factor in determining ultimate burst pressure and overall hose life. Failure can occur on the contacted parts of a hose with the metal fittings under severe operating conditions such as high pressure and temperature of the inner fluid. In this paper, the mechanical behavior between the hose and the metal fittings during the swaging process and the stress variation characteristics of a high-pressure hose under a constant applied pressure are analyzed with respect to the braid angle of steel wire using the finite element method.

  • The multistage precision forming process for aperture of electronic guns consists mainly of drawing and swaging operations. The multistage forming sequence is analyzed in view of production industry, and based on the industrial investigation. The processes are simulated by the finite element code MARC. The elastic recovery, strain and stress distribution, and the die forces are summarized.
