Synthesis of Neopentyl Biphenylsulfonates Using the Suzuki-Miyaura Reaction

  • Palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of neopentyloxysulfonylphenyl bromides with arylboronic acids provided a variety of neopentyl biphenylsulfonates in good yields. 2-Bromo- and 4-bromobenzenesulfonates underwent the coupling reaction more rapidly than 3-bromobenzenesulfonate, while chlorobenzenesulfonate did not produce the coupling product under the standard reaction conditions.

  • In this paper, we construct an iteration scheme involving a hybrid pair of the Suzuki generalized nonexpansive single-valued and multi-valued mappings in a complete CAT(0) space. In process, we remove a restricted condition (called end-point condition) in Akkasriworn and Sokhuma's results [2] in Banach spaces and utilize the same to prove some convergence theorems. The results in this paper, are analogs of the results of Akkasriworn et al. [3] in Banach spaces.

  • In the construction industry, complex works are carried out with significant resources under non-linear circumstances where clear concepts of project management could be of benefit to all parties and personnel involved. In this paper, we define the optimum project management configuration for construction management by using DSM (Design Structure Matrix). Furthermore DSM can be visualized as a network model, and then Graph Theory provides us the numerical results.

Platinum Nano-Dispersion via In Situ Processing - Preparation and catalytic Property of Porous $CaZrO_3/MgO/Pt$ Nanocomposite

  • A bulk porous $CaZrO_3/MgO$ composite with plantinum nano-dispersion was synthesized in air atmosphere through the combination of several in situ reactions, including the pyrolysis of $PtO_2$. A mixture of $CaMg(CO_3)_2$(dolomite), $ZrO_2$, $PtO_2$ and LiF (0.5 wt%, as an additive) was cold isostatically pressed at 200 MPa and sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. The porous $CaZrO_3/MgO/Pt$ composite ($CaZrO_3/MgO$ : Pt=99 : 1 in volume) had a uniformly open-porous structure (porosity: 56%) with three-dimensional (3-D) network and a narrow pore-size distribution, similarly to the porous $CaZrO_3/MgO$ composites reported before. Catalytic Properties (viz., NO direct decomposition and NO reduction by $C_2H_4$) of the $CaZrO_3/MgO/Pt$ composite were investigated up to $900^{\circ}C$. In the absence of oxygen, the NO conversion rate reached ~52% for the direct decomposition and ~100% for the reduction by $C_2H_4$, respectively. The results suggest the possibility of the porous composite as a multifunctional filter, i.e., simultaneous hot gas-filtering and $de-NO_x$ in one component.

An Exploration of a Way for Contemporary Actor Training/Acting: A Perspective from Denis Diderot and Tadashi Suzuki's Concepts

  • This research aims to reconsider the necessity of an alternative way(s) for contemporary actor training and acting in discussing and articulating Diderot and Suzuki's concepts and approaches for acting/training. First of all, the physical body, assumed and conceptualized by Diderot is beyond our control by means of a type of radical body/mind dualism, and is based on the concept that body and mind are separate. In contrast, Suzuki's notion of acting/training is raised by his concern about the role of an actor's body in the constitution of an actor's bodily experience against the imitation of the West-oriented theatre/acting/training. The descriptions of the two theatre artists' notion of acting/training gives us insight into the place and role of contemporary theatre as a practical root to encounter and communicate between a doer and a spectator where an actor's body must appropriately be attuned and cultivated towards the cultivation of bodily attributes which are foundation but usually neglected by actors/directors/practitioners particularly in Korea. Especially, misunderstanding of a specific training sources/approaches, namely 'scientific system' and the 'method' have taken us away from the potential possibilities of the lived oneness. Here, the 'possibility' refers to the primary bodily functions within a specific context or being in the here and now rather than attempting to copying, imitating and/or adapting a specific cultural source(s)/approaches/techniques as we have faced with through the previous century. We reconsider and argue that a potential way to correspond the nature of theatre/acting/training is that how to meet the demand of contemporary spectators which in turn intensifies an actor's stability, sustainability and hopefully professional identity in this contemporary era.

마이크로파와 금속 촉매를 이용한 Pyrrolo[3,2-d]-pyrimidine 유도체의 다양화 (Diversification of 4,5-disubstituted Pyrrolo[3,2-d]-pyrimidines by Microwave Assisted Metal Catalyzed Reaction)

  • 생리학적 활성을 보일 것으로 기대되는 다양한 pyrrolopyrimidine 유도체를 O-arylation과 Suzuki 짝지움 반응을 통해 합성하였다. 금속 촉매 Cu를 사용하고 마이크로파 조사 조건에서O-arylation을 성공적으로 진행하여 pyrrolo[3,2-d]pyrimidine의 4번 위치에 phenol기를 도입할 수 있었다. 또한, 금속촉매 Pd를 사용하는 Suzuki짝지움 반응도 마이크로파를 사용하여 pyrrolo[3,2-d]pyrimidine의 4번 위치에 aryl 기를 도입할 수 있었다. 유도체의 다양화를 위한 반응 조건으로 마이크로파를 사용함으로써 긴 반응 시간과 열전달 효율성 문제를 가지고 있는 전통적인 열 반응의 단점을 획기적으로 극복할 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 신약개발 연구에 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대되는 pyrrolo[3,2-d]pyrimidine 유도체를 다양화하는데 사용할 수 있다.
