  • The resource-based theory addresses a new way of competition and the sustainability of advantages from competition, Moreover, Information Technology(IT) has interacted with other resources and gained the strategic importance. The central research task is to identify three relationships; (1) between organizational resources surrounding IT and IT performances, (2) between organizational resources surrounding IT and sustainable competitive advantages(SCA), and (3) between IT performances and the SCA. Results of the LISREL analysis show that firms must integrate IT into the other related resources of the organization and the management should consider comprehensive change management efforts rather than mere investments in technology to gain sustainable competitive advantages.

  • Water security issues, stimulated by increasing population and changing climate, are growing and pausing major challenges for water resources managers around the world. Proper utilization, management and distribution of all available water resources is key to sustainable development for achieving water security To alleviate the water shortage, most of the current research on multi-sources combined water supplies depends on an overall generalization of regional water supply systems, which are seldom broken down into the detail required to address specific research objectives. This paper proposes the concept of optimization framework on multi water sources selection. A multi-objective water allocation model with four objective functions is introduced in this paper. Harmony search algorithm is employed to solve the applied model. The objective functions addresses the economic, environmental, and social factors that must be considered for achieving a sustainable water allocation to solve the issue of water security.

  • Purpose - An appreciable number of small- and medium-sized exporters have continuously succeeded in their export marketplaces even though they do not possess enough resources. Advocating that affiliation with an export service-provider plays an important role in this phenomenon, we aimed to theoretically explain how export service providers' competences and relational factors drive small- and medium-sized exporters' competitive advantages in the long-run. Design/methodology - Drawing prominently on the resource-based view and the relationship-marketing theory, we built an empirically testable model. The model showed the roles of exporter capabilities, export service-provider competences, and relational factors on small- and medium-sized exporters' sustainable competitive advantages. Findings - The results of our research showed that exporter production and branding capabilities positively influenced their sustainable competitive advantage. In addition, export service-providers' marketing competence and relationship-building competence positively moderated the effects of exporter capabilities on their parties' sustainable competitive advantages. Finally, affiliation parties' interfirm trust and relationship commitment positively moderated the effects of export service-provider competence on the relationship between exporter capabilities and sustainable competitive advantages. Originality/value - Although prior studies have highlighted the effects of an exporter's resources on export performance, our research filled a knowledge gap of the effects of other resources on export performance. First, we proposed two types of export service-provider, competence marketing and relationship-building, influencing exporters' competitive advantage. Second, the effects of relational factors were proposed in the context of export affiliations.

  • A system to analyze, assess and manage the health performance of resources and spaces throughout the project lifecycle shall be established to ensure sustainable healthy buildings. Decisions made in the planning, design, construction, and operation and management (O&M) phases must help sustain the health performance of buildings at the level specified by clients or the relevant laws. For this reason, it is necessary to develop a model to ensure the consistent management of performance, as such performance varies according to the decisions made by project participants in each phase. The purpose of this research is to develop a Lifecycle Health Assessment Model (LHA) for sustainable healthy buildings. The developed model consists of four different modules: the Health-friendly Resources Database (HRDB) module, which provides health performance data regarding resources and spatial elements; the Lifecycle Health-performance Tree (LHT) module, which analyzes the hierarchy of spatial and health impact factors; the Health Performance Evaluation (HPE) Module; and the Lifecycle Health Management Module, which analyzes and manages changes in health performances throughout the lifecycle. The model helps ensure sustainable health performances of buildings.

  • The rapid industrial and technological development has made the human activities for the utilization of marine resources more complex. Marine spatial management is a space-based approach. It is a comprehensive and integrated management approach. The ultimate goal of marine spatial management is the "sustainable use" of marine resources. The partial approach is applied in the existing marine spatial management, mainly coastal zones which involves integrated approach. Also this showed various limitations including restricted mostly to coastal zones, and limitation to implementation tools. However, for marine spatial management to have a reasonable approach that attaches importance to the relationship between humans and the holistic ecosystem, it is important to internalize a central principle in marine spatial management that focuses on the sustainable use of marine resources. In the present study, four central principles are proposed that will eventually be applied through marine spatial management planning tools. These principles are 1) the establishment of a cooperative decision making and planning system that is based on stakeholder participation; 2) scientific assessment of the current status and impact on the basis of ecology, sociology, and economics; 3) reasonable and optimal spatial assignment based on the forecasting of future-use characteristics and environmental changes; and 4) ascribing importance to the implementation of the results of rational planning processes.

  • Heritage resources have become important social assets as the global interests in heritage tourism increased. Utilization of heritage as unique tourist destination has positive effects on regional economy, which in turn plays an important role in heritage conservation. However, it was found that the essential quality of heritage resources has been degraded and even destroyed when excessive use was permitted. This undesirable side-effects of heritage tourism have led to the growing concern for sustainable tourism that can contribute to both utilization and conservation of heritage. In order for sustainable tourism to be effectively implemented, it is crucial for visitors to be aware of the need for heritage conservation because they are the most important consumers of the heritage. The purpose of this study was to suggest some basic information for sustainable tourism by investigating visitors' evaluation of conservation and use values of heritage resources. The study sites were the two Korean traditional temples(Sokrisan Bubjusa and Naejangsan Naejangsa) and contingent valuation method was used. 390 visitors in Bubjusa and 308 visitors in Naejangsa participated in the questionnaire survey. From the results, sustainable tourism is possible in such heritage areas as traditional temples because the participants had relatively balanced values for heritage conservation and use. The WTP for natural conservation value was found to be highest in both temples; visitors may be more agreeable with the heritage conservation plan if the sustainability of natural resource is emphasized. Also, the use value of heritage could be influenced by the tourism utilization of the area where the heritage was located. If there are no other famous tourist destinations except the heritage in the area, additional plans to develop alternative destinations should be prepared in order to formulate the agreement on the need to protect the heritage among visitors, local communities, and government.
