  • Buildings, energy and the environment are key issues that the building professions and energy policy makers have to address, especially in the context of sustainable development. With more tall buildings constructed in China, the impact on energy consumption and carbon emission would be great from buildings (2% increase of carbon dioxide annually between 1971 and 2004). The imperative was to investigate the building energy performance of high-rise in different climate zones and identify the key design parameters that impose significantly influence on energy performance in sustainable building design. Design implications on glazing performance, sizing of the ventilation fans, renewable energy application on high-rise building design are addressed. Combination of effective sustainable building design strategies (e.g., building envelope improvement, daylight harvesting, advanced lighting design, displacement ventilation, chilled ceiling etc.) could contribute more than 25% of the total building energy consumption compared to the international building energy code.

  • The seamless integration of the architecture and structure of a tall building plays a key role in establishing a recognizable and iconic design. The structural system developed for Shenzhen Rural Commercial Bank Headquarters (SRCBH) utilizes enhanced structural innovations unique to the tower's geometry to improve structural and sustainability performance. SRCBH utilizes a steel diagrid system pulled outside of the enclosure line with diaphragm forces resolved primarily by corner diagonal beams. During the design process the structural systems underwent performance based design and optimization for wind and seismic loading. Resiliency was prioritized for structural design as well as fire resistance. More closely integrating the structure of a building with its architecture and sustainability goals can lead to unique and innovative towers with a timeless expression.

  • This research proposes a new approach to measure corporate contributions to sustainability called Sustainable Value. With some global corporations which recognize the seriousness of environmental crisis and their social responsibility, enterprises are positively accepting the sustainable management. Also, publication of the sustainability report is proliferating which is showing the enterprise's strategy, activity, result and influence in environmental, economic, social cases to the stakeholder. However, to settle and proliferate this current, it rests with how to evaluate enterprises sustainability in reasonable and reliable figure. In this context, what introduced and taking effects are sustainability report evaluation and awarding system. But the quality of sun stainability report and its content's depth and the evaluation of enterprise's sustainability itself should be distinguished. Because the enterprise which published excellent graded sustainability report is not always the enterprise that is sustainable. Then, how could we prove the result of enterprise's sustainable management based on sustainability report? This paper is to find the answer and to utilize it based on sustainability report, particularly sustainable value model as the central figure.

  • We achieved both industrialization and democratization during the shortest period in the world. We also achieved good performance in national health insurance: universal coverage, solidarity in financing, equitable access of health care. However, national health insurance system has faced the problem of sustainability: various expenditure and financing problems. The problem of sustainablity has two facets of economic sustainability and fiscal sustainability. Economic sustainability refers to growth in health spending as a proportion of gross domestic product(GDP). Rapid increasing rate of health spending exceeds the growth rate of domestic product. Growth in health spending is more likely to threaten other areas of economic activity. Concern on fiscal sustainability relates to revenue and expenditure on health care. Health care financing face demographic and technical obstacles. Democratic obstacle is aging problem. Technical obstacle is collection of contribution. Expenditure of health care has various problems in benefit structure and efficiency of health care system. In this article, I suggest several policy reforms to enhance sustainability: generating additional revenue from value added tax, changing method of levying contribution, increasing efficiency of health care system by introducing the competition principle. restructuring of benefit scheme of health insurance. contracting with health care institutions to provide health care services.

The event study methodology was used to study the impact of publishing sustainability reports on stock prices and the trading volume of these companies' shares in the Saudi stock market during the period from (October 2020 to March 2021). The results indicate a significant impact of the information contained in the sustainability reports on stock prices and trading volume in the stock market, and the importance of directing the company's management towards more disclosure of information about sustainability in its environmental, social, and economic aspects instead of focusing only on information related to the financial performance and economic activity of the company. This encourages the listed companies to disclose the sustainability of the financial reports and standardize the form in which these disclosures are prepared.

  • Though their activities, companies have an impact on environmental problems and nature conservation. The accounting sector can play a role in environmental conservation efforts related to environmental costs, and the implemention of the Corporate Sustainability Management System (CSMS) could be a key factor that can improve the company's financial performance. This study aims to determine how green accounting through the application of CSMS can improve the financial performance of manufacturing companies in Indonesia, a developing country. The sampling method used was purposive sampling, while the research sample consisted of 38 companies that had followed PROPER and were indexed on the IDX. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method known as the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. The results of this study indicate that manufacturing companies in Indonesia are able to implement green accounting by allocating appropriate environmental costs by earmarking a portion to carry CSMS implementation so as to improve financial performance. People in Indonesia consider that manufacturing companies that have good company rankings in the evaluation program for company performance ratings in environmental management run by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment are in a position to generate customer loyalty, especially in financial performance.
