Security and monitoring system has many applications and commonly used for detection, warning, alarm, etc. As the networking technology advances, user requirements are getting higher. An intelligent and cooperative surveillance system is proposed to meet current user demands and improve the performance. This paper focuses on the implementation issue for the embedded intelligent surveillance system. To cover wide area cooperative function is implemented and connected by wireless sensor network technology. Also to improve the performance lots of sensors are employed into the surveillance system to reduce the error but improve the detection probability. The proposed surveillance system is composed of vision sensor (camera), mic array sensor, PIR sensor, etc. Between the sensors, data is transferred by IEEE 802.11s or Zigbee protocol. We deployed a private network for the sensors and multiple gateways for better data throughput. The developed system is targeted to the traffic accident detection and alarm. However, its application can be easily changed to others by just changing software algorithm in a DSP chip.

The current video surveillance system is the third generation, and the video device has developed from low image quality to high image quality. The video surveillance solution has improved from the simple type to the intelligent type. However, as the equipment and technology for these video surveillance systems become more complicated and diversified, they are increasingly dependent on infrastructure, such as faster network speed and stable power supply. On the other hand, there is a growing need for video surveillance in areas where basic infrastructure is limited, such as power and communications. In this paper, we propose a system that can support intelligent video surveillance in a region where basic infrastructure is limited.

Vital to the prevention of work-related ill-health (WRIH) is the availability of good quality data regarding WRIH burden and risks. Physician-based surveillance systems such as The Health and Occupation Research (THOR) network in the UK are often established in response to limitations of statutory, compensation-based systems for addressing certain epidemiological aspects of disease surveillance. However, to fulfil their purpose, THOR and others need to have methodologic rigor in capturing and ascertaining cases. This article describes how data collected by THOR and analogous systems can inform WRIH incidence, trends, and other determinants. An overview of the different strands of THOR research is provided, including methodologic advancements facilitated by increased data quantity/quality over time and the value of the research outputs for informing Government and other policy makers. In doing so, the utility of data collected by systems such as THOR to address a wide range of research questions, both in relation to WRIH and to wider issues of public and social health, is demonstrated.

The occurrences of occupational illness and injury have been seriously underestimated in Korea. Surveillance systems for occupational diseases have recently emerged as important strategies for the control of occupational hazards and the implementation of intervention programs to protect workers. However, health service providers do not actively diagnose occupational diseases and are unwilling to report occupational diseases. With the rapid growth of Internet usage in Korea, the computer network has become the predominant means of communicating and sharing information. Therefore, we developed a web-based updated information and education network to assist the health services providers in reporting occupational diseases. Information systems for occupational disease surveillance were also designed to support occupational disease reporting. Commonly available database systems, such as web databases, are useful to manage occupational diseases data efficiently. Standardized case definitions and report guidelines were also established, which included cumulative trauma disorder, occupational asthma, occupational contact dermatitis, and occupational cancer. This system may provide the basis of an efficient and continuously updated source of educational information and provide specific information concerning the occurrence of occupational diseases in specific areas. Background information on occupational diseases obtained in this way will be invaluable for preventing hazards and enforcing occupational disease prevention programs. Moreover, our experiences in establishing these information systems will be of great use in other countries and settings.

The UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) system, including the drone of a variety of fields, which has become an issue and utilized in various fields, has begun to develop in military fields and is actively developed in the commercial field. In various types of UAV systems, which have been developed recently, the communication system that is responsible for the connection between the ground control unit and the UAVs is called the data link. Especially, common data link used in military UAVs is required stability of communication to transmit surveillance and reconnaissance intelligence information and UAV's status. In this paper, the requirement for a modem was defined to secure the communication stability of the common data link used in surveillance UAVs. And, the design of the data link modem to satisfy applicable specifications was proposed. The proposed modem design was verified through the performance measurement of the implemented systems.
Purpose: In this study, a reliability prediction based reliability growth management is suggested especially for the early development phase of a system and the case study of surveillance system is given. Methods: The proposed reliability prediction based reliability growth management procedures consists of 7 Steps. In Step 1, the stages for reliability growth management are classified according to the major design changes. From Step 2 to Step 5, system reliability is predicted based on reliability structures and the predicted reliabilities of subsystems (Level 2) and modules (Level 3). At each stage, by comparing the predicted system reliability with that of the previous stage, the reliability growth of the system is checked in Step 6. In Step 7, when the predicted value of sustem reliability does not satisfy the reliability goal, some design alternatives are considered and suggested to improve the system reliability. Results: The proposed reliability prediction based reliability growth management can be an efficient alternative for managing reliability growth of a system in its early development phase. The case study shows that it is applicable to weapon system such as a surveillance system. Conclusion: In this study, the procedures for a reliability prediction based reliability growth management are proposed to satisfy the reliability goal of the system efficiently. And it is expected that the use of the proposed procedures would reduce, in the test and evaluation phase, the number of corrective actions and its cost as well.
Recently lots of problems are emerged on the conventional surveillance systems at several areas. Many research activities have been processing on those problems. Therefore, in this paper, it is helpful to all sorts of accident prevention and safe driving, and risks linked to the outside or the administrator tells, that intelligent video surveillance system which can be real-time analysis and monitoring configuration, technical elements, required features, application and its applies.
In this paper, we present real-time, accurate face region detection and tracking technique for an intelligent surveillance system. It is very important to obtain the high-resolution images, which enables accurate identification of an object-of-interest. Conventional surveillance or security systems, however, usually provide poor image quality because they use one or more fixed cameras and keep recording scenes without any clue. We implemented a real-time surveillance system that tracks a moving person using pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras. While tracking, the region-of-interest (ROI) can be obtained by using a low-pass filter and background subtraction. Color information in the ROI is updated to extract features for optimal tracking and zooming. The experiment with real human faces showed highly acceptable results in the sense of both accuracy and computational efficiency.
PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera based surveillance systems are enlarging their field of application due to their wide observable area. We aimed to detect both static and moving objects in automated working space by using a PTZ camera. For object detection we used background difference method because of the high quality segmentation. However, the method has a problem called 'hole' that is caused by non-continuous surveillance of the PTZ camera and its own characteristics. Moreover, the occlusion which occurs when the moving object overlaps with the static object should be solved for robust object detection. In this paper, we suggest a region-based technique for updating background images thereby overcoming the hole and occlusion problem. Through experiments with real scenes, it was verified that meaningful static and/or moving objects were detected very well.

The construction industry has the highest occupational accidents/injuries among all industries. Korean government installed surveillance camera systems at construction sites to reduce occupational accident rates. Construction safety managers are monitoring potential hazards at the sites through surveillance system; however, the human capability of monitoring surveillance system with their own eyes has critical issues. Therefore, this study proposed to build a deep learning-based safety monitoring system that can obtain information on the recognition, location, identification of workers and heavy equipment in the construction sites by applying multiple-object tracking with instance segmentation. To evaluate the system's performance, we utilized the MS COCO and MOT challenge metrics. These results present that it is optimal for efficiently automating monitoring surveillance system task at construction sites.
