  • The Airship PKNU is a roughly 12 m (32 ft) long blimp, filled with helium, whose two-gasoline power(3hp per engine) are independently radio controlled. The motors and propellers can be tilted and are attached to the gondola through an axle and supporting braces. Four stabilizing fins are mounted at the tail of the airship. To fill in the helium, a valve is placed at the bottom of the hull. The inaugural flight was on jul. 31.2002 at the Pusan, S.korea Most environment monitoring system\ problem use satellite image. But, Low resolution satellite image (multi-spectral) : 1km ∼ 250 m ground resolutions is lows. So, detail information acquisition is hard at the complex terrain. High resolution satellite image (black and white) 30m : The ground resolution is high. But it is high price, visit cycle and delivery time is long So. We want make high accuracy airship photogrammetry system. This airship can catch picture Multi. spectral Aerial photographing (visible, Near infrared and thermal infrared), and High resolution (over 6million pixel). It can take atmosphere datum (Temperature (wet bulb, dew point, general), Pressure (static, dynamic), Humidity, wind speed). this airship is very Quickness that aircraft install time is lower than 30 minutes, it is compact and that conveyance is easy. High-capacity save image (628 cut per 1time (over 6million and 4band(R,G,B,NIR)) and this airship can save datum this High accuracy navigatin (position and rotate angle) by DGPS tech. and Gyro system. this airship will do monitor about red-tide, sea surface temperate, and CH-A, SS and etc.

35 kWh급 플라이휠용 초전도 베어링의 댐핑 특성평가 (Damping Properties of a Superconductor Bearing in a 35 kWh Class Superconductor Flywheel Energy Storage System)

  • Superconductor flywheel energy storage system (SFESs) is an electro-mechanical battery with high energy storage density, long life, and good environmental affinity. SFESs have been developed for application to a regenerative power of train, the storage of distributed power sources such as solar and wind power, and a power quality improvement. As superconductor bearing is completely passive, it is not necessary to control a system elaborately but accurate analysis in mechanical properties of the HTS bearing is very important for application to SFESs. Stiffness and damping properties are the main index for evaluation the capacity of HTS bearings and make it possible to adjust rotordynamic properties while operating the rotor-bearing system. The superconductor bearing consists of a stator containing single grain YBCO bulks, a ring-type permanent magnet rotor with a strong magnetic field that can reach the bulk surface, and a bearing support for assembly to SFESs frame. In this study, we investigated the stiffness and damping properties of superconductor bearings in 35 kWh SFESs. Finally, we found that 35 kWh superconductor bearing has uniform stiffness properties depend on the various orientations of rotor vibration. We discovered total damping coefficient of superconductor bearing is affected by not only magnetic damping in superconductor bulk but also external damping in bearing support. From the results, it is confirmed that the conducted evaluation can considerably improve energy storage efficiency of the SFESs, and these results can be used for the optimal capacity of superconductor bearings of the SFESs.

  • 압축공기를 활용한 가스터빈 발전방식(CAES-G/T)은 태양열이나 풍력과 같은 신재생 에너지의 출력 변동성을 조절하는 유력한 수단 중 하나로 고려되고 있다. 국내에서 CAES 발전이 실용화된다면 지질여건상 암반터널식이 채택될 가능성이 크다. 암반터널식 CAES 시설에서는 압축공기 저장공간을 밀폐시키기 위한 콘크리트 플러그의 설치가 필요하므로 플러그의 형상과 크기를 결정하는 것이 중요한 설계변수가 된다. 파괴에 대한 안전율 분포와 접촉부 접촉압력 분포 분석을 통해 2가지 형태의 콘크리트 플러그에 대한 안정성 평가를 수행하였다. 주어진 지질조건에서는 테이퍼형 플러그가 쐐기형 플러그에 비해 구조적으로 안정한 것으로 나타났다. 쐐기형 플러그의 경우 측면 접촉부에서 분리현상이 예측되었고 이러한 분리면에서 압축공기의 누출 가능성과 마찰저항의 감소가 발생할 수 있음을 보여주었다.

鎭海灣 潮流의 2차월 水利 및 數値 모델링 (Two-Dimensional Hydraulic and Numerical Modeling of tidal Currents in Chinhae Bay)

  • 현장 관측, 수리실험 및 수치실험에 의해 진해만 조류 및 조속간차류의 2차원적 변동특성을 연구하였다. 수리 및 수치실험 결과는 현장 관측결과와 비교적 잘 일치하 였다. 가덕수로, 견내량수로 및 진해만의 중앙수로에서 대조기 최강유속은 약 90∼110 cm/s 이고, 소조기 최강유속은 약 30∼40 cm/s 로써 강하게 나타났으며, 조속간 차류 도로 여러개의 와류를 형성하면서 강하게 일어났다. 진해만의 서부해역과 북부해역에 서 대조기 외강유속은 약 30 cm/s 이하, 소조기 최강유속은 약 10 cm/s 이하로써 약하 며, 조속장로 비교적 약하게 일어났다. 가조로 북부해역에서는 북향하는 조속장로 가 조로 이남해역에서는 시계방향으로 회전하는 와류가 발생하였다. 만내에서 표층흐름 은 바람 하천유출수에 의해 강하게 지배되고, 대조류보다 소조기의 흐름이 바람 과 유출수의 영향을 더 많이 받는다.

한국 주변 해역에서의 SAR 영상 응용예 (Some Applications of SAR Imagery to the Coastal Waters of Korea)

  • 한국 남쪽 해역에서 획득한 SAR 영상들로부터 해양 표면에 나타난 물리 현상등이 관측되었다. 1994년 10월 11일 제주도 남서쪽 연안에서의 ERS-1 SAR 영상에서는 남쪽으로부터의 너울 형태의 파랑이 관측되었으며 변도 전달함수를 적용하여 영상으로부터 파랑 스펙트럼을 구하였다. 1996년 8월 15일 제주도 북쪽 연안의 RADARSAT SAR 영상에서 관측된 내부파는 여름철의 성층화된 해수에서 조류 전류시 조류가 해저 지형과의 상호 작용에 의하여 발생한 것으로 추측되며 솔리톤의 형태를 띠고 있다. 1997년 4월 3일 거제도 부근에서 발생한 유류오염 사고 3일 후에 획득한 RADARSAT SAR 영상에서는 사고 당시 유출된 기름들이 잘 나타났으나 복잡한 해안 지형과 생화학적 요인에 의한 다른 Slicks들도 함께 나타났다.

기후변화 대응을 위한 녹색기반시설의 유형과 효과 (Green Infrastructure Types and Effects for Climate Change)

  • 본 연구는 전 지구적 문제인 기후변화에 대응하기 위해 하천, 산림 등의 자연 지역과 공원, 녹지 등의 오픈스페이스 등을 녹색기반시설이라는 개념으로 통합하고, 이를 완화와 적응의 관점에서 녹색기반시설이 기후변화에 어떻게 효과적으로 대응할 수 있는지에 대한 연구를 실시하였다. 연구의 결과, 산림, 공원, 녹지, 텃밭, 옥상농장, 자전거로, 보행로 등의 녹색기반시설은 1) 탄소의 저감과 격리, 2) 화석연료 대체, 3) 원자재 대체, 4) 식량 생산, 5) 차량 이동의 감소 등을 통해서 기후변화를 완화시킬 수 있다. 둘째, 하천, 가로수, 저류지, 습지, 사구, 바람길 등의 녹색기반시설은 1) 폭염완화, 2) 물 공급 조절, 3) 강 범람 조절, 4) 해안 범람 조절, 5) 지표수 조절, 6) 토양 침식 감소, 7) 생물종 적응에 도움 등을 통해서 기후변화 적응의 역할을 할 수 있다.

Absorption properties and size distribution of aerosol particles during the fall season at an urban site of Gwangju, Korea

  • To investigate the influence of pollution events on the chemical composition and formation processes of aerosol particles, 24-h integrated size-segregated particulate matter (PM) was collected during the fall season at an urban site of Gwangju, Korea and was used to determine the concentrations of mass, water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC) and ionic species. Furthermore, black carbon (BC) concentrations were observed with an aethalometer. The entire sampling period was classified into four periods, i.e., typical, pollution event I, pollution event II, and an Asian dust event. Stable meteorological conditions (e.g., low wind speed, high surface pressure, and high relative humidity) observed during the two pollution events led to accumulation of aerosol particles and increased formation of secondary organic and inorganic aerosol species, thus causing $PM_{2.5}$ increase. Furthermore, these stable conditions resulted in the predominant condensation or droplet mode size distributions of PM, WSOC, $NO_3{^-}$, and $SO{_4}^{2-}$. However, difference in the accumulation mode size distributions of secondary water-soluble species between pollution events I and II could be attributed to the difference in transport pathways of air masses from high-pollution regions and the formation processes for the secondary chemical species. The average absorption ${\AA}ngstr{\ddot{o}}m$ exponent ($AAE_{370-950}$) for 370-950 nm wavelengths > 1.0 indicates that the BC particles from traffic emissions were likely mixed with light absorbing brown carbon (BrC) from biomass burning (BB) emissions. It was found that light absorption by BrC in the near UV range was affected by both secondary organic aerosol and BB emissions. Overall, the pollution events observed during fall at the study site can be due to the synergy of unfavorable meteorological conditions, enhanced secondary formation, local emissions, and long-range transportation of air masses from upwind polluted areas.

견인되는 선박의 조종성능 개선에 관한 연구 : 시스템 모델링 (A study on maneuvering performance improvement of a towed vessel without a power propulsion system: system modeling)

  • In this study, a motion control problem for the vessels towed by tugboats or towing ships on the sea is considered. The towed vessel looks like the barge ship, which is used for many purposes. In these vessels, basically, the power propulsion system is not installed but just towed by a towing vessel such as tugboats with ropes and wires. It means that the motions of towed vessel are basically dependent on the tracking route of towing boat. Therefore, in some cases, undesirable and unpredictable motions may be made by environmental factors such as wave, wind attack and so on. As a result, a collision accident with others may occur during maneuvering situation. Based on these facts, the authors try to encourage the steering performance of the towed vessel by using controllable rudders without any propulsion system. In this study, especially, a controllable vessel with three rudders is considered, and a mathematical model is induced for the future study. The model is described as surge, sway motion and inertia moment by following the general representation method for the surface ship.

대규모 기후인자와 관련된 우리나라 봄철 산불위험도 변동 (Spring Forest-Fire Variability over Korea Associated with Large-Scale Climate Factors)

  • This study investigated the variability of spring (March-May) forest fire risk in Korea for the period 1991~2017 and analyzed its relationship with large-scale climate factors. The Forest Weather Index (FWI) representing the meteorological risk for forest fire occurrences calculated based on observational data and its relationship with large-scale climate factors were analyzed. We performed the empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis on the spring FWI. The leading EOF mode of FWI accounting for about 70% of total variability was found to be highly correlated with total number of forest fire occurrences in Korea. The high FWI, forest fire occurrence risk, in Korea, is associated with warmer atmosphere temperature in midwest Eurasia-China-Korea peninsula, cyclonic circulation anomaly in northeastern China-Korea peninsula-northwest pacific, westerly wind anomaly in central China-Korea peninsula, and low humidity in Korea. These are further related with warmer sea surface temperature and enhanced outgoing longwave radiation over Western Pacific, which represents a typical condition for a La $Ni\tilde{n}a$ episode. This suggests that large-scale climate factors over East Asia and ENSO could have a significant influence on the occurrence of spring forest fires in Korea.

화력발전소의 회처리장 내 비산먼지 저감을 위한 화학적 먼지억제제 적용 연구 (Application of Chemical Dust Suppressants for Control of Fugitive Dust in Ash pond of Thermal Power Plant)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate efficiencies of chemical suppressants for control of fugitive dust in ash pond of thermal power plant. In this study, $MgCl_2$, PAM (polyacrylamide), and PVA (poly vinyl alcohol) that are generally applied to suppression of fugitive dust generated from unpaved road, coal mining, storage piles and etc, were employed as chemical dust suppressants. The coal ash (coal combustion residuals) were sampled from the ash pond of Yeongheung power division in Incheon, South Korea. The characterization of the sample including particle size distribution, pH, $pH_{PZC}$ and pore volume as well as XRF analysis were carried out. The suppressant treated-samples were investigated with the wind tunnel experiments to estimate and compare the effect of suppressants on stabilization of the surface of coal ash samples. According to the results, the stability of suppressant-treated samples were significantly improved compared to water-treated samples. Among the three kinds of suppressants, PAM and PVA showed higher efficiencies and cost saving than $MgCl_2$.
