This paper deals with evaluation of bending fatigue strength in SCM415 carburized spur gears. The constant stress amplitude fatigue test is performed by using an electrohydraulic servo-controlled pulsating tester. The S-N curves are obtained and the enhanvement of fatigue strength due to carburized treatment is clarified. In this study the improvement of fatigue strength is assumed to be caused by an increase of both hardness and residual stress and experimental formula has been proposed for the estimation of bending fatigue strength of carburized gears. The effect of surface conditions on the fatigue strength is evaluated quantitatively and it is close to the relative surface condition factor used in the ISO strength rating formula.
Surface treatment was carried out by an Excimer Pulse laser beam in order to increase the adhesive strength of vulcanized rubber. With increasing number of laser beam irradiations, the adhesive strength was greatly increased; the adhesive strength was 1,500 N/m after irradiation 100 times. The energy density increase was in direct proportion to the adhesive strength increase; the maximum value of the adhesive strength was 1,500 N/m at the energy density of 176 mJ/$cm^{2}$. It was concluded that the increase of surface area was relevant to that of both energy density and adhesive strength
One of the important advantage of adhesive bonded joint can combine the different materials. The joint that bonded by structural adhesive bond must keep a large force and its strength is affected by some environmental factors such as temperature and submergence time in water. In order to advance the fatigue strength of adhesive bonded joint, mostly put a surface treatment on the surface. This study was researched the effect of air temperature, submergence time, submergence temperature and surface treatment on the fatigue strength. We found that submergence temperature has the most effect and low plasma treatment specimens have the most fatigue strength.

There is the increasing number of constructing soil or structure on the soft ground during public works. Usually cement or slag cement has been the traditional material for surface soil stabilization method. Recently, early strength development properties of hardening agent is required for driving abilities of execution equipment and shortening of the construction time. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop the early compressive strength hardening agent for surface soil stabilization. The study was confirmed performance and availability of hardening agent using early strength type cement and industrial by-product minerals through early strength development properties in accordance with water cement ratio, content of hardening agent for soft soil.
PURPOSE. The object of the present study was to evaluate the shear bonding strength of composite to PEKK by applying several methods of surface treatment associated with various bonding materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS. One hundred and fifty PEKK specimens were assigned randomly to fifteen groups (n = 10) with the combination of three different surface treatments (95% sulfuric acid etching, airborne abrasion with $50{\mu}m$ alumina, and airborne abrasion with $110{\mu}m$ silica-coating alumina) and five different bonding materials (Luxatemp Glaze & Bond, Visio.link, All-Bond Universal, Single Bond Universal, and Monobond Plus with Heliobond). After surface treatment, surface roughness and contact angles were examined. Topography modifications after surface treatment were assessed with scanning electron microscopy. Resin composite was mounted on each specimen and then subjected to shear bond strength (SBS) test. SBS data were analyzed statistically using two-way ANOVA, and post-hoc Tukey's test (P<.05). RESULTS. Regardless of bonding materials, mechanical surface treatment groups yielded significantly higher shear bonding strength values than chemical surface treatment groups. Unlike other adhesives, MDP and silane containing self-etching universal adhesive (Single Bond Universal) showed an effective shear bonding strength regardless of surface treatment method. CONCLUSION. Mechanical surface treatment behaves better in terms of PEKK bonding. In addition, self-etching universal adhesive (Single Bond Universal) can be an alternative bonding material to PEKK irrespective of surface treatment method.

The use of Self-Leveling material is increasing recently. This paper assesses the quality of surface layer of concrete floor when Self-Leveling material is defective. The paper shows how to predict the defect of SL material before construction begins. The relationship between the quality of surface layer of concrete floor and the defect of SL material was determined and the quality of surface layer of concrete floor was then estimated. The relations between the quality of surface layer and the defect of SL material were determine considering surface strength, moisture, and consistency of surface layer. Absorbing amount was used as the indicator of consistency and the absorbing amount of test material was measured. Then the relations between the test material and surface strength were determined. Generally concrete floor with greater consistency has greater surface strength, however in this study, we hound that high impact concrete floor could have lower surface strength as the consistency gets bigger. The relations between the level of defect occurred in SL material and the quality of surface layer were examined and we clarified that the surface layer with lower consistency gets higher possibility to occur exfoliation in early stage, one or two weeks after constructing SL material. When the consistency is sufficient, the occurring situation of defect depends upon the moisture of surface layer. Little amount of moisture gets higher possibility not to occur the defect. As the amount increases, fissure generates and early exfoliation may occur. In addition, the level of fissure is highly related with the surface strength.

This paper documents the effect of surface treatment of aluminum on the bonding strength of aluminum/CFRP composites. The surface of aluminum panel was treated by DC plasma. The optimal treatment condition of the aluminum was determined by measuring the contact angle and T-peel strength as functions of mixture ratio of acetylene gas to nitrogen gas. The mixture ratios used were 1:9, 3:7, 5:5, 7:3, and 9:1 Lap shear tests and T-peel tests were performed using surface-treated alumiunm/CFRP composites and regular alumiunm/CFRP composites. The results showed that the contact angle was minimized and the T-peel strength was maximized iota the mixture ratio of 5:5. The results also showed that the shear strength of surface-treated alumiunm/CFRP composites was 34% greater than that of regular alumiunm/CFRP composites. The T-peel strength of surface-treated alumiunm/CFRP composites was also 5 times greater than that of regular alumiunm/CFRP composites.

Purpose : This study purposed to analyze how dynamic stabilization exercise on an unstable surface, and static stabilization exercise on muscle strength and endurance. Methods : For this study we sampled 9 people for the unstable surface dynamic stabilization exercise group, 9 for the stable surface static stabilization exercise group, and 9 for the control group. In order to examine muscle strength and endurance, we measured changes in the maximal voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) using a dynamometer before, 3 weeks after, and 6 weeks after the experiment. Results : First, with regard to change in muscle strength, flexion strength showed a significant change in interaction by time (p<0.05). Extension strength showed a significant change in interaction by time (p<0.05). Second, with regard to change in endurance, flexion endurance showed a significant change in interaction by time (p<0.05). Extension endurance showed a significant change in interaction by time (p<0.05). Conclusion : In conclusion, this study confirmed significant changes in interaction between the groups and by time with regard to changes in muscle strength and endurance. These results suggest the potential of surface dynamic stabilization exercise as a clinical intervention.

In this paper, the effect of adhesion properties of semiconductive-insulating interface layer of silicone rubber on electrical properties was investigated. Surface structure and adhesion of semiconductive silicon rubber by surface asperity was obtained from SEM and T-peel test. In addition, ac breakdown test was carried out for elucidating the change of electrical property by roughness treatment. From the results, Adhesive strength of semiconductive-insulation interface was increased with surface asperity. Dielectric breakdown strength by surface asperity decreased than initial Specimen, but increased from Sand Paper #1200. According to the adhesional strength data unevenness and void formed on the silicone rubber interface expand the surface area and result in improvement of adhesion. Before treatment Sand Paper #1200, dielectric breakdown strength was decreased by unevenness and void which are causing to have electric field mitigation small. After the treatment, the effect of adhesion increased dielectric breakdown strength. It is found that ac dielectric breakdown strength was increased with improving the adhesion between the semiconductive and insulating interface.
Statement of problem. Resin cements are widely used in adhesive dentistry specially on all ceramic restorations. It is needed to find out adequate bonding strength between different porcelain surface treatments, commercially available porcelains, and different resin cement systems. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to evaluate shear bond strength of resin cements bonded to porcelains in three different modalities; 5 different porcelain surface treatments, 3 different resin cement systems and 3 different commercially available pressable porcelains. Material and Method. This study consisted of 3 parts. Part I examined the effect of five different surface treatments on the pressable porcelain. Fifty discs (5 mm in diameter and 3 mm in height) of Authentic porcelain were randomly divided into 5 groups (n = 10). The specimens were sanded with 320 grit SiC paper followed by 600 grit SiC paper. The specimens were treated as follow: Group 1-Sandblasting (aluminum oxide) only, Group 2 - sandblasting/ silane, Group 3 - sandblasting/ acid etching/ silane, Group 4 - acid etching only, Group 5 - acid etching/ silane. Part II examined the shear bond strength of 3 different resin cement systems (Duolink, Variolink II, Rely X ARC) on acid etching/ silane treated Authentic pressable porcelain. Part 3 examined the shear bond strength of Duolink resin cement on 3 different pressable porcelains (Authentic, Empress I, Finesse). All cemented specimens were stored in distilled water for 2 hours and tested with Ultradent shear bond strength test jig under Universal Instron machine until fracture. An analysis of variance(ANOVA) test was used to evaluate differences in shear bond strength. Result. The shear bond strength test resulted in the following: (1) Acid etched porcelains recorded greater shear bond strength values to the sandblasted porcelains. (2) Silane treated porcelains recorded greater shear bond strength values to non-silane treated porcelains. (3) There was no significant difference between sandblasting/ acid etching/ silane treated and acid etching/ silane treated porcelains. However those values were much higher than other three groups. (4) The shear bond strength with Variolink II was lower than the value of Duolink or Rely X ARC. (5) The shear bond strength of Finesse was lower than the value of Authentic or Empress I.
