관개용수로에서의 수면곡선 계산 (Water Surface Profile Computations at Irrigation Channel Networks)

  • A water surface profile computation model using a standard step procedure was developed for gradually varied flow at an irrigation channel network. Flow characteristics ab Banweol district near Suweon were field monitored during irrigation periol of 1987. The model was applied to the main system at the district and the simulation results were compared to the field data. The results are sumrnarized as follows ; 1. The simulated water surface profiles from the model were in good agreement with the measured water surface profiles at different flow rates. 2. The model applicability for defining a stage-discharge relationship at a channel reach was demonstrated with reasonable accuracy when water stage and friction factor were given. 3. The roughness coefficient was found to be a major factor sigrificantly affecting computed water surface profile among a few physical input parameters for the model.

Fractal 차원과 Variogram을 이용한 암반 불연속면의 굴곡도 특성 서술 (Surface Roughness Characterization of Rock Masses Using the Fractal Dimension and the Variogram)

  • There has been considerable research dealing with the influence of surface roughness along surfaces of rock discontinuities in relation to the peak shear strength of rock masses. Concepts accepted recently for measuring such strength include estimation of a roughness coefficient such as developed by Barton's studies. The method for estimation the Joint Roughness Coefficient (JRC) value of a measured roughness profile is subjective. The aim of this research is to estimate the JRC value of the roughness of a surface profile in a rock mass system using an objective method. The study of roughness of surfaces has included measurement of fractal geometric characteristics. Once the irregularity of the surface has been described by the fractal dimension, the spatial variation of the surface irregularities can be described using variogram and drift analysis. An empirical relationships between the roughness profiles of selected JRC ranges and their fractal dimension with variogram and drift were derived. The application of analyses of fractal dimension, variogram and drift was novel for the analysis of roughness profiles. Also, an empirical equation was applied to experimental data.

  • In metal cutting, Chatter is an unstable cutting phenomenon which is due to the interaction of the dynamics of the chip removal process and the structural dynamics of machine tool. when vibration and chatter occurs, it reduces tool life, results in poor surface roughness and low productivity of the machining process. In this study, the experiments were conducted in CNC lathe without cutting fluid to investigated phenomenon of the chatter, In the experiments, accelerometers were set up at the tail stock and tool holder and the signals were picked up. In order to observe the effect of chatter on the surface roughness profiles, in this paper, surface roughness profiles will be generated under the ideal condition and the occurrence of the chatter based on the surface simulation model.

  • 지진 매개변수에 의해 지진해일의 초기 수면형상이 결정된다. 본 연구에서는 해저지진에 의해 발생하는 지진해 일의 초기 수면형상의 변화에 대한 지진 매개변수의 영향을 연구한다. 대상 지진해일은 지난 수십 년 동안 우리나라에 가장 큰 피해를 입힌 1983년 동해 중부 지진해일이다. 지진 매개변수 중에서는 strike angle(${\theta}$)이 초기수면형상에 가장 큰 영향을 주었다.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE SURFACE ROUGHNESS PARAMETERS AND THE RADAR BACKSCATTER OF A BARE SURFACE

  • Whereas it is well known that the surface roughness parameters, the RMS height and the correlation length, of a natural soil surface are underestimated with a short surface profile, it is not clear how much the underestimated surface parameters affect the backscattering coefficients of the surface for various incidence angles and polarizations. The backscattering coefficients of simulated and measured surface profiles are computed using the integral equation method (IEM) and analyzed in this paper to answer this question. It is shown that the RMS error of the backscattering coefficients between 5-m- and 1-m-long measured surface profiles is 1.7 dB for vv-polarization and 0.5 dB for hh-polarization at a medium range of incidence angle ($15^{\circ}{\leq}{\theta}{\leq}70^{\circ}$), while the surface roughness parameters are significantly reduced; from 2.4 cm to 1.5 cm for the RMS height s and from 35.1 cm to 10.0 cm for the autocorrelation length l. This result is verified with numerous simulations with various roughness conditions and various wavelengths.

  • 리스크 관리에 기반한 교량관리를 위해서는 시간 및 환경에 따른 성능변화를 예측하기 위한 성능이력모델이 필수적이다. 일반적으로 성능이력모델의 산출은 어려운 작업이므로 전문가 의견 또는 교량의 겉보기 상태 진단평가 기록을 이용한 상태 성능 이력모델이 많이 사용되어 왔다. 하지만 상태성능 이력모델은 교량의 실제 안전도와는 일치하지 않은 경우가 많아 근본적인 문제를 내포하고 있다. 성능 평가 및 이에 따른 성능이력모델의 정확도는 교량 유지관리 시스템(Bridge Management System, BMS)의 정확도와 직접적인 관계가 있으며 유지관리 예산의 합리적인 분배를 위한 최적 대안 산출을 위해 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 방법, 즉 정성적 전문가 의견 및 불충분한 정기점검 기록에 의해 작성되는 상태 성능 이력모델의 단점을 극복하기 위하여 열화를 고려한 수치해석결과를 바탕으로 산출되는 안전성능이력모델을 제안하였다. 제안한 성능이력모델 구축을 위해서 다양한 교량 형식이 검토 되었으며, 그 중 설계 변수 간 종속성이 높아 고려되어져야 할 설계 변수의 수가 비교적 적은 강박스 교량을 중심으로 다양한 환경 조건 및 시간에 따른 안전성능이력의 변화를 분석하였다. 교량 유지관리 시스템 내에서의 안전성능 이력모델의 역할은 특정 환경 하에서 시간에 따른 안전성능변화 예측에 있으며 안전성능이력모델의 산출 속도는 시설물 관리시스템의 효율성에 직접적인 영향을 미치기 때문에 일반적으로 실시간 해석을 수행하기 보다는 기 작성된 예측모델을 사용하는 방법이 주로 사용된다. 본 연구에서는 정량적 성능이력의 신속한 산출을 위하여 주요 설계 변수로 구성된 응답면 기법(Response Surface Method, RSM)을 사용하였다. 응답면 기법 적용을 위한 설계 변수 및 설계 값의 범위는 국내 강상자형교 설계 기준, 가이드라인 및 유지관리 자료를 근거로 산정하였다.

  • Doping effects and semiconductor behaviors of the dispersed p- and n-Si, p- and n- GaAs particles in the aqueous electrolyte have been studied using microelectrophoretic, voltammetric and chronoamperometric techniques. The cations (K$^{+}$) are adsorbed on both the p- and n- Si particle surfaces regardless of the sign of space charges in the depletion layers, i.e. doping profiles. The surface states are negatively charged acceptor states. On the other hand, the anions (CI$^{-}$) are adsorbed on both the p- and n- GaAs particle surfaces regardless of the sign of space charges in the depletion layers, i.e. doping profiles. The surface states are positively charged donor states. Under the same conditions, electrophoretic mobilities, electrochemical processes, doping effects and related semiconductor behaviors of the Si and the GaAs particles are similar regardless of the doping profiles, i. e. dopants and doping concentrations. The doping effects and related semiconductor behaviors of the dispersed p- and n- type semiconductor particles are gradually lost with decreasing dimensions.

스크류 로터 가공용 커터의 치형설계에 관한 연구 (The Design of Cutter profiles for Manufacturing Rotors of Screw Compressor)

  • The purpose of this paper is to design cutter profiles for manufacturing rotors of screw compressor, which are based on universal milling machine. The surface profile of screw rotor which is helicoidal is derived as brief equation through the coordinates transformation of the section perpendicular to rotor axis. And the equations of contact lines between a cutter and the surface profile of screw rotor are derived. The computer program which can analyze the equation of contact lines numerically and design the cutter profiles of screw rotor is made, and verified through measuring screw rotors which are menufactured as the designed cutter by the computer program.

BVI SURFACE PHOTOMETRY OF FOUR SPIRAL GALAXIES

  • We have conducted BVI photographic surface photometry of four spiral galaxies NGC1087, NGC2715, NGC2844 and NGC3593, by making use of the Kiso Schmidt plates. Detailed examination of the morphological properties of the galaxies using isophotal maps and luminosity profiles showed that all the program galaxies have some peculiarities in their luminosity distributions. NGC1087 and NGC2715 have extremely small nuclei with inner rings which contain several bright HII regions. NGC2844 has a very large bulge whose luminosity dominates over the disk luminosity in all the radii. The I-band luminosity profile of NGC3593 shows shallower gradient than B- and V-band profiles. We were able to successfully decompose the luminosity profile into a bulge following de Vaucouleurs $\gamma^{1/4}-law$ and an exponential disk only for NGC 3953. Other galaxies have more complicated luminosit profiles.

온돌면(溫突面)의 방열량(放熱量) 산정방법(算定方法)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Calculation Method on Heat Flux from Ondol Floor Surface)

  • Until recently there was a lack of reliable performance data for the design and operation of Ondol heating systems. This paper presents a calculation method on heat flux from Ondol floor surface. Total heat flux from floor consists of radiation and convection component. In order to analyse the characteristics of both radiation and convection heat flux, each surface temperature is measured and several temperatures near each wall are measured vertically and horizontally in a practical Ondol heating space. Radiation heat flux is calculated and analysed by Gebhart's Absorption Factor Method with the consideration of instantaneous radiant exchanges. Convection heat output is derived from the vertical temperature profiles near floor. The vertical temperature profiles could be expressed by nonlinear regression equation models and convection coefficients could be estimated by the equations. As a result, radiation, convection and total heat flux are suggested by the expression of difference between floor surface and room air temperature.
