In this paper, a methodology has been proposed according to which, after carrying out a set of soil's resistivity measurements using Wenner Four-probe data, one can compute the parameters of the multilayer earth structure using a genetic algorithm(GA). The results provided by the GA constitute the indispensable data that can be used in circuital or field simulations of grounding systems. The methodology allows to proceed toward a very efficient simulation of the grounding system and an accurate calculation of potential on the ground's surface.
Meta1-ferroelectric-insulator-semiconductor(MFIS) devices using Pt/LiNbO$_{3}$/AIN/Si structure were successfully fabricated. AIN thin films were made into metal-insulator-semiconductor(MIS) devices by evaporating aluminum in a dot array on the film surface. The dielectric constant of the AIN film calculated from the capacitance in the accumulation region in the capacitance-voltage(C-V ) characteristic is 8. The gate leakage current density of MIS devices using a aluminum electrode showed the least value of 1$\times$10$^{-8A}$$\textrm{cm}^2$ order at the electric field of 500㎸/cm. A typica] value of the dielectric constant of MFIS device was about 23 derived from 1MHz capacitance-voltage (C-V) measurement and the resistivity of the film at the field of 500㎸/cm was about 5.6$\times$ 10$^{13}$$\Omega$.cmcm
The spin wave absorption spectra are obtained by a simultaneous solution of the Maxwell equation and the Gilbert equation considering the boundary condition of electromagnetic wave and magnetization in the film surfaces. The physical parameters that influence the absorption energy are thickness, exchange stiffness constant, surface magnetic anisotropy, magnetization. damping factor, electric resistivity of the thin film. We investigated how these parameters affect the resonance field, the linewidth and the intensity of the spin wave spectrum.
For safety evaluation of a rockfill dam, it is often necessary to investigate spatial distribution and dynamic characterization of weak zones such as fractures. For this purpose, both seismic and electric methods are adopted together in this research. The former employs the multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW) method, and aims at the mapping of 2-D shear-wave velocity (Vs) profile along the dam axis that can be associated with dynamic properties of filled materials. The latter is carried out by DC- resistivity survey with a main purpose of mapping of spatial variations of physical properties of dam materials. Results from both methods are compared in their signature of anomalous zones. In addition, downhole seismic survey was carried out at three points within the seismic survey lines and results by downhole seismic survey are compared with the MASW results. We conclude that the MASW is an efficient method for dynamic characterization of dam-filling materials, and also that joint analyses of these two seemingly unrelated methods can lead to an effective safety evaluation of rock-fill dam.

We have applied the geophysical survey, mainly electric and electromagnetic (EM) methods, to a test site contaminated by hydrocarbon waste disposal and local spill. The multi-frequency, moving source & receiver EM survey along with ground penetrating radar (GPR) showed a fairly good performance in detection of buried metal pipes and objects. Magnetic survey measuring vertical and horizontal gradients were so sensitive to the small metallic objects spread over the surface that it's hard to discriminate the buried pipe. We chose electrical resistivity, EM and GPR survey to examine the soil contamination. Depth slices of resistivity distribution as the results of the inversion of resistivity and EM data coincided each other and closely matched the contaminated area determined by chemical analysis of the soil samples. GPR images did not show the reflection events related with contamination plume since there are no distinct spill in this site. We inferred the contamination using the penetration depth of the GPR energy, which could be used as auxiliary information to the resistivity and EM results. We summarized the applicability of each survey methods based on this results and proposed a desirable survey scheme for the determination of hydrocarbon contaminated site.

Thermal shock testing was used to evaluate reliability that appeared in the solder joints of electronic devices when they were subjected to thermal cycling. Recently, mobile devices have come smaller and multi-functional, with the increasing need for high-density packaging, BGA or CSP has become the main trend for surface mounting technology, and therefore mechanical stress life for solder joints in BGA/CSP type packages has required. Reliability of BGA/CSP solder joints was evaluated with electric resistivity change of daisy chain pattern and stress-strain curve measured using strain gage attached on the surface of PCB under mechanical impact loading. In this report, applications of PCB Universal Testing Machine we have developed and experimental datum of SONY estimating dynamic behavior of mechanical stress in BGA/CSP solder joints are introduced.
This paper deals with ground potential rise of structure grounding electrode when a test current flows through grounding electrode. In order to analyze the potential gradient of ground surface on structure grounding electrode, the reduced scale model has been used. The structures were designed through reducing real buildings and fabricated with four types on a scale of one-one hundred sixty. The supporter was made to put up with weight of structure and could move into vertical, horizontal, rotary direction. When a test current flowed through structure grounding electrodes, ground potential rise was the lowest value at electric cage type(type B). According to resistivity and absorption percentage in concrete attached to structure, the potential distribution of ground surface appeared differently.
In this paper, the solutions of TE(transverse electric) scattering problems by a resistive strip grating over a grounded dielectric layer are analyzed by applying the PMM(point matching method) known as a numerical method of electromagnetic fileld. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients and the resistive boundary condition is used for the relationship between the tangential magnetic field and the induced surface current density on the resistive strip. The induced surface current density of resistive strip is obtained by difference of the up and down of the magnetic field in two boundary areas of the resistive strip. The numerical results for reflected power of zeroth order mode analyzed by according as the resistivity, the width and spacing of resistive strip, the relative permittivity and thickness of dielectric layer, and incident angles. The numerical results shown in good agreement compared to those of the existing papers using FGMM(fourier galerkin moment method).
We have developed an algorithm based on the method of integral equations to simulate the magnetotelluric (MT) responses of three-dimensional (3-D) bodies in a layered half-space. The inhomogeneities are divided into a number of cells and are replaced by an equivalent current distribution which is approximated by pulse basis functions. A matrix equation is constructed using the electric Green's tensor function appropriate to a layered earth, and is solved for the vector current in each cell. Subsequently, scattered fields are found by integrating electric and magnetic Green's tensor functions over the scattering current About a 3-D conductive body near the earth's surface, interpretation using 2-D transverse electric modeling schemes can imply highly erratic low resistivities at depth. This is why these routines do not account for the effect of boundary charges. However, centrally located profiles across elongate 3-D prisms may be modeled accurately with a 2-D transverse magnetic algorithm, which implicitly includes boundary charges in its formulation. Multifrequency calculations show that apparent resistivity and impedance phase are really two complementary parameters. Hence, they should be treated simultaneously in broadband MT interpretation.
This study is a basic research for practical applications of carbonized boards, which measured thermal conductivity and electrical properties of carbonized boards manufactured at different carbonization temperature ($400{\sim}1,100^{\circ}C$) using a medium density fiberboard, particleboard, plywood and wood (Fraxinus rhynchophylla). The highest value of thermal conductivity was 0.1326 m/k at carbonization temperature of $900^{\circ}C$ in the carbonized particleboard. Overall, the higher density of carbonized board, thermal conductivity was faster. As the electrical resistivity decreased with increased carbonization temperature, it was almost close to conductor after carbonization temperature of $1,000^{\circ}C$. When electricity has worked on the carbonized board by high voltage, the current and the electric power increased and surface temperature of carbonized board was high.
