The effect of surface recombination current density on the saturation current density in Si solar cell has been studied. Theoretical model for surface recombination current was set up from emitter transparent model of M.A. Shibib, and saturation current of Si solar cell made by ion implantation method was also measured by digital electrometer. The theoretical surface recombination current density which is the same as saturation surface recombination current density in Shibib model was $10^{-11}[A/cm^2]$ and the measured value was ranged from $8{\times}10^{-10}$ to $2{\times}10^{-9}[A/cm^2]$. Comparing with the ideal p-n junction of Shockley, transparent emitter model shows improved result by $10^2$ order of saturation current density. But there still exists $10^2$ order of difference of saturation current density between theoretical and actual values, which are assumed to be caused by 1) leakage current through solar cell edge, 2) recombination of carriers in the depletion layer, 3) the series resistance effect and 4) the tunneling of carriers between states in the band gap.

A compact model of tunnel field effect transistor (TFET) has been developed. The model includes a surface potentia calculation module and a band-to-band-tunneling current module. Model comparison with TCAD shows that the mode calculates TFET surface potential and drain current accurately.
The inaccurate model parameters in the predictive current control of surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SMPMSM) affect the current dynamic response and steady-state error. This paper presents a model parameter correction algorithm based on the relationship between the errors of model parameters and the static errors of dq-axis current. In this correction algorithm, the errors of inductance and flux are corrected in two steps. Resistance is ignored. First, the proportional relations between inductance and d-axis static current errors are utilized to correct the error of model inductance. Second, the flux is corrected by utilizing the proportional relations between flux and q-axis static current errors under the condition that inductance is corrected. An experimental study with a 100 W SMPMSM is performed to validate the proposed algorithm.

This paper presents an experiment on the modeling, analysis, prediction and optimization of machining parameters used during the turning process of the low-carbon steel known as ST40. The parameters used to develop the model are the cutting speed, the feed rate, and the depth of the cut. The experiments were carried out under various conditions, with three level of parameters and two different treatments for each level (with and without a lubricant), to determine the effects of the parameters on the surface roughness and electric current consumption. These effects were investigated using response surface methodology (RSM). A second-order model is used to predict the values of the surface roughness and the electric current consumption from the results of experiments which collected preliminary data. The results of the experiment and the predictions of the surface roughness and electric current consumption under both treatments were found to be nearly identical. This result shows that the feed rate is the main factor that influences the surface roughness and electric current consumption.
A Wave-induced current model is developed in our study and this model is composed with wave transform model and current model. Two types of wave model are used in our study one is Copeland(1985) type which is applied in the offshore region and the other is Watanabe and Maruyama(1984) type which is applied in the surf zone. The depth-integrated and time-averaged governing equation of an unsteady nonlinear form is used in the wave induced current model. Lateral mixing radiation stresses surface and bottom stresses are considered in our current model. Copeland’s(1976) is used as a surface friction formula. Numerical solutions are obtained by Leendertse scheme and compared with Noda’s(1974) experimental results for the uniform slope coastal region test and Nishimura & Naruyama’s (1985) experimental results and numerical simulation results for the detached breakwater. The results from our wave model and wave model and wave-induced current model show good agreements with the others and also show nonlinear effects around the detached breakwater. The model in this study can be applied in the surf zone considering the friction stresses.

A two-dimensional nonlocal heating theory of planar-type inductively coupled plasma source has been previously reported with a filamentary antenna current model. However, such model yields an infinite value of electric field at the antenna position, resulting in the infinite self-inductance of the antenna. To overcome this problem, a surface current model of antenna should be adopted in the calculation of the electromagnetic fields. In the present study, the reactor impedance is calculated based on the surface current model and the dependence on various discharge parameters is studied. In addition, a simpler method is suggested and compared with the surface current calculation.
A compact current model applicable to both single-gate (SG) and double-gate (DG) tunneling field-effect transistors (TFETs) is presented. The model is based on Kane's band-to-band tunneling (BTBT) model. In this model, the well-known and previously-reported quasi-2-D solution of Poisson's equation is used for the surface potential and length of the tunneling path in the tunneling region. An analytical tunneling current expression is derived from expressions of derivatives of local electric field and surface potential with respect to tunneling direction. The previously reported correction factor with three fitting parameters, compensating for superlinear onset and saturation current with drain voltage, is used. Simulation results of the proposed TFET model are compared with those from a technology computer-aided-design (TCAD) simulator, and good agreement in all operational bias is demonstrated. The proposed SG/DG-TFET model is developed with Verilog-A for circuit simulation. A TFET inverter is simulated with the Verilog-A SG/DG-TFET model in the circuit simulator; the model exhibits typical inverter characteristics, thereby confirming its effectiveness.

In This study develops a quasi-three dimensional numerical model of wave driven coastal currents with accounting the effects of the wave-current interaction and the surface rollers. In the wave model, the current effects on wave breaking and energy dissipation are taken into account as well as the wave diffraction effect. The surface roller associated with wave breaking was modeled based on a modification of the equations by Dally and Brown (1995) and Larson and Kraus (2002). Furthermore, the quasi-three dimensional model, which based on Navier-Stokes equations, was modified in association with the surface roller effect, and solved using frictional step method. The model was validated by data sets obtained during experiments on the Large Scale Sediment Transport Facility (LSTF) basin and the Hazaki Oceanographical Research Station (HORS). Then, a model test against detached breakwater was carried out to investigate the performance of the model around coastal structures. Finally, the model was applied to Akasaki port to verify the hydrodynamics around coastal structures. Good agreements between computations and measurements were obtained with regard to the cross-shore variation in waves and currents in nearshore and surf zone.

Surface complexation models employ mass law equations to describe the reaction of surface functional groups with ions in the solution and also Gouy-Chapman theory to consider the electrostatic effects in the surface reactions. In current surface complexation models, however, the coulombic factors used are not wholly consistent with the Gouy-Chapman model of the surface. This study was to provide the derivation of the coulombic term usually employed and then a revised coulombic term completely consistent with Gouy-Chapman Theory. The electrical potential energy. zF${\psi}$, in current surface complexation models is not consistent with the Gouy-Chapman theory with the potential gradient close to the charged surface but with the Donnan model with the uniform potential. Even though the new coulombic factor yielded lower surface potential, it provided worse fits for acid-base titration data of the goethite suspensions.
