An attempt has been made to examine the characteristics of acoustic and MHD waves generated in stellar convection zones($4000\;K\;{\leq}\;T_{eff}\;{\leq}\;7000\;K$, $3\;{\leq}\;\log\;g\;{\leq}\;4.5$). With the use of wave generation theories formulated for acoustic waves by Stein (1967), for MHD body waves by Musielak and Rosner (1987, 1988) and for MHD tube waves by Musielak et al.(l989a, 1989b), the energy fluxes are calculated and their dependence on effective temperature, surface gravity and megnetic field strength are analyzed by optimization techniques. In computing magneto-convection models, the effect of magnetic fields on the efficiency of convection has been taking into account by extrapolating it from Yun's sunspot models(1968; 1970). Our study shows that acoustic wave fluxes are dominant in F and G stars, while the MHD waves dominant in K and M stars, and that the MHD wave fluxes vary as $T_{eff}^4{\sim}T_{eff}^7$ in contrast to the acoustic fluxes, as $T_{eff}^{10}$. The gravity dependence, on the other hand, is found to be relatively weak; the acoustic wave fluxes ${\varpropto}\;g^{-0.5}$, the longitudinal tube wave fluxes ${\varpropto}\;g^{0.3}$ and the transverse tube wave fluxes ${\varpropto}\;g^{0.3}$. In the case of the MHD body waves their gravity dependence is found to be nearly negligible. Finally we assesed the computed energy fluxes by comparing them with the observed fluxes $F_{ob}$ of CIV(${\lambda}1549$) lines and soft X-rays for selected main sequence stars. When we scaled the corrected wave fluxes down to $F_{ob}$, it is found that these slopes are almost in line with each other.
Velocities of leaky surface acoustic waves (LSAW/sub s/) were measured by using a line-focus polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) transducer and compared with theoretically calculated ones. Isotropic materials of Cu, Al, fused quartz, and anisotropic one of Z-cut α-quartz crystal were used as specimens. The velocities were obtained by the separation time between wave components reflected directly from the surface of specimen and LSAW components according to the defocusing distance. The measured velocities well agree with the theoretical results within 1% error, and it was shown that the leaky pseudo-surface acoustic wave (LPSAW) as well as the LSAW propagates with the typical 6-fold anisotropy on the (0,0,1) surface of α-quartz.

This paper is to compare the absorption coefficient with normal incidence waves and it with diffuse incidence waves of glass wool which the most used absorption material and multi layer fiber. The absorption coefficient with normal incidence waves is calculated by surface impedance that measured by using an acoustic tube. Based on this data, the absorption. coefficient with diffuse incidence waves is predicted and is compared with measured the absorption coefficient in reverberation room.
Efficient numerical method is developed for the prediction of aerodynamic noise generation and propagation in low Mach number flows such as aeolian tone noise. The proposed numerical method is based on acoustic/viscous splitting techniques of which acoustic solvers use simplified linearised Euler equations, full linearised Euler equations and nonlinear perturbation equations as acoustic governing equations. All of acoustic equations are forced with immersed surface dipole model which is developed for the efficient computation of aerodynamic noise generation and propagation in low Mach number flows in which dipole source, originating from unsteady pressure fluctuation on a solid surface, is known to be more efficient than quadrupole sources. Multi-scale overset grid technique is also utilized to resolve the complex geometries. Initially, aeolian tone from single cylinder is considered to examine the effects that the immersed surface dipole models combined with the different acoustic governing equations have on the overall accuracy of the method. Then, the current numerical method is applied to the simulation of the aeolian tones from twin cylinders aligned perpendicularly to the mean flow and separated 3 diameters between their centers. In this configuration, symmetric vortices are shed from twin cylinders, which leads to the anti-phase of the lift dipoles and the in-phase of the drag dipoles. Due to these phase differences, the directivity of the fluctuating pressure from the lift dipoles shows the comparable magnitude with that from the drag dipoles at 10 diameters apart from the origin. However, the directivity at 100 diameters shows that the lift-dipole originated noise has larger magnitude than, but still comparable to, that of the drag-dipole one. Comparison of the numerical results with and without mean flow effects on the acoustic wave emphasizes the effects of the sheared background flows around the cylinders on the propagating acoustic waves, which is not generally considered by the classic acoustic analogy methods. Through the comparison of the results using the immersed surface dipole models with those using point sources, it is demonstrated that the current methods can allow for the complex interactions between the acoustic wave and the solid wall and the effects of the mean flow on the acoustic waves.
The bubbles are created by waves, raindrops, water collision, vessels sailing at sea, life activities of various marine organisms in the ocean and other sources. The bubbles affect the intensity and sound speed of acoustic waves in the ocean. We indirectly observed bubbles in order to understand the creation of and the effects of bubbles on sound waves, using an Acoustic Bubble Spectrometer (ABS) and CTD, from 04:00 to 17:00, 19 September, 2007. We also analyzed the correlation of wind speed and the generation of bubbles, the amount of bubbles, and the sound speed variation at 50, 60, and 70 kHz. Finally, We simulated the way how bubbles affect sound transmission based on the analysis results.

SAW (Surface Acoustic Waves) ID (identification) tags have been designed and implemented for RFID (Radio frequency IDentification) systems. With SAW ID tag of pulse position encoding method, the data capacity increased 3 times compared with SAW ID tag of amplitude on/off method. Two different kinds of SAW ID tag receiver systems, heterodyne and homodyne receiver systems, were made. The direct conversion receiver showed better isolation property, 10 dB improvement than the heterodyne receiver to increase wireless interrogation distance.

In this study, the underwater acoustic images were obtained by ultrasonicwave. The experiment was performed in the anechoic watertank, using a passive sonar array for one and two sound source respectively by X-Y scanning technique. The receiving array was consist of 8 disc type transducers with 1.5cm diameter at 25KHz resonance frequency. The scanned data were processed by the FORTRAN IV algorithm for the reconstruction of image, and the image had some noise due to the surface reflected waves. As the result, it was found that the acoustic imaging by electrical deflection and dynamic focusing technique is applicable to SONAR with the suppression of surface reflected wave.

Surface Acoustic Waves(SAW) are generated on silicon wafer and $YZ-LiTaO_3$ substrate and are detected by noncontact method. As wave sources two kinds of transducers are used : the wedge-type of 20.0 MHz and fabricated Interdigital Transducer(IDT) of 20.8 MHz. SAW are modulated by the optical chopper frequency and are syncronized with a laser beam. In signal processing, intensity variations of light due to the intensity of SAW are analyzed using lock- in amplifier. From the results, corresponding to the applied input power, the intensity variations of a deflected light by corrugations on the substrates are increased and saturation phenomenon is observed.
If temperature management is required in factory or environmental monitoring, temperature can be measured by connecting various sensors wired or wirelessly. Surface acoustic wave sensors measure temperature using changes in acoustic waves on the sensor surface according to temperature, and are useful for wireless networks. In this paper, in order to build a wireless temperature measurement system in the 900 MHz frequency band, the temperature characteristics of the passive SAW sensor were measured, and the analysis and removal of multipath reflection wave effect inside the high temperature chamber were conducted. The resonant frequency of the SAW sensor was measured, and radio transmission/reception and multipath reflected wave removal techniques were proposed in the shielded chamber.
In underwater, acoustic waves are used for telecommunication. The communication channels are very complicated, because of the distribution of temperature in depth, reflections from boundaries like as the surface of water and the bottom. We report the constitution of the underwater acoustic channel using the simulation of the Transmission Line Matrix Modeling and cross-correlations from the input and output signals.
