PURPOSES : About 35% of air pollutant is occurred from road transport. NOx is the primary pollutant. Recently, the importance of NOx removal has arisen in the world. $TiO_2$ is very efficient for removing NOx by photocatalytic reaction. The mechanism of removing NOx is the reaction of photocatalysis and solar energy. Therefore, $TiO_2$ in concrete need to be contacted with solar radiation to be activated. In general, $TiO_2$ concrete are produced by substitute $TiO_2$ as a part of concrete binder. However, 90% of $TiO_2$ in the photocatalysis can not contacted with the pollutant in the air and solar radiation. Coating and penetration method are attempted as the alternative of mixing method in order to locate $TiO_2$ to the surface of structure. METHODS : The goal of this study was to attempt to locate $TiO_2$ to the surface of concrete, so we can use the concrete in pavement construction. The distribution of $TiO_2$ along the depth were confirmed by basing on the comparison of $TiO_2$ compare by using the EDAX(Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy). RESULTS : $TiO_2$ were distributed within 3mm from concrete surface. This distribution of $TiO_2$ is desirable, since the $TiO_2$ induce photocatalysis are located to where they can be contacted with the air pollutant and solar radiation. CONCLUSIONS : Nano size $TiO_2$ is easily penetration in the top 3mm of concrete surface. By the penetration $TiO_2$ concrete can be produced with the use of only 10% of $TiO_2$, by comparing the mixing types.

Surface solar radiation over the sea is estimated using the visible and infrared spin scan radiometer (VISSR) data onboard Geostationary Meteorological Satellite(GMS)-5 from January 1997 to December 1997 in clear and cloudy conditions. The hourly insolation is estimated with a spatial resolution of $5km{\times}5km$ grid. The island pyranometer operated by the Japan Meteorological Agency(JMA) is used to validate the estimated insolation. The root mean square error of the hourly estimated insolation is $104W/m^2$ with 0.91 of the correlation coefficient. In the variability of the hourly solar radiation investigated around the Korean Peninsula, the maximum value of solar radiation is found in June at the Yellow Sea and the East Sea, while in August at the South Sea because of low pressure conditions and front in June.
Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) affects the growth of plants as well as their photosynthetic rates. A mathematical model for intercepted solar radiation on the tilted leaf with any azimuth angle was established and the leaf orientation in which receives the maximum solar radiation was determined each month, during the growing season, and for an year. PAR was maximized at the leaf elevation of 50。~60。 in the winter, at that of 20。~40。. On the whole the leaves of tilt angle 0。~40。 received much radiation comparing with those of other tilt angles. The theoretical tendencies were compared with the distribution of leaf orientation measused practically. The average leaf elevation of maple tree was 17.0。$\pm$12.0。, and that of ginkgo was 29.8。$\pm$16.0。. Several results from other literatures support our suggestion that cumulative effevct of the relationships between surface normal vector and a vector pointing in the direction of the radiation determine the leaf orientation.
Total solar irradiance (750), total UV irradiunce (TUV) and erythemal UV irradiance (EUV) measured at King Sejong station $(62.22^{\circ}S,\;58.78^{\circ}W)$ in west Antarctica have been used together with total ozone, cloud amount and snow cover to examine the effects of ozone, cloud and snow surface on these surface solar inadiunce over the period of 1998-2003. The data of three solar components for each scan were grouped by cloud amount, n in oktas $(0{\leq}n<3,\;3{\leq}n<4,\;4{\leq}n<5,\;5{\leq}n<6,\;6{\leq}n<7\;and\;7{\leq}n<8)$ and plotted against solar zenith angle (SZA) over the range of $45^{\circ}\;to\;75^{\circ}$. The radiation amplification factor (RAE) is used to quantify ozone effect on EUV. RAF of EUV decreases from 1.51 to 0.94 under clear skies but increases from 0.94 to 1.85 under cloudy skies as SZA increases, and decreases from 1.51 to 1.01 as cloud amount increases. The effects of cloud amount and snow surface on EUV are estimated as a function of SZA and cloud amount after normalization of the data to the reference total ozone of 300 DU. In order to analyse the transmission of solar radiation by cloud, regression analyses have been performed for the maximum values of solar irradiance on clear sky conditions $(0{\leq}n<3)$ and the mean values on cloudy conditions, respectively. The maximum regression values for the clear sky cases were taken to represent minimum aerosol conditions fur the site and thus appropriate for use as a normalization (reference) factor for the other regressions. The overall features for the transmission of the three solar components show a relatively high values around SZAs of $55^{\circ}\;and\;60^{\circ}$ under all sky conditions and cloud amounts $4{\leq}n<5$ and $5{\leq}n<6$. The transmission is, in general, the largest in TUV and the smallest in EUV among the three components of the solar irradiance. If the ground is covered with snow on partly cloudy days $(6{\leq}n<7)$, EUV increases by 20 to 26% compared to snow-free surface around SZA $60^{\circ}-65^{\circ}$, due to multiple reflections and scattering between the surface and the clouds. The relative difference between snow surface and snow-free surface slowly increases from 9% to 20% as total ozone increases from 100 DU to 400 DU under partly cloud conditions $(3{\leq}n<6)$ at SZA $60^{\circ}$. The snow effects on TUV and TSO are relatively high with 32% and 34%, respectively, under clear sky conditions, while the effects changes to 36% and 20% for TUV and TSO, respectively, as cloud amount increases.
The solar and meteorological resources map is calculated using by one-layer solar radiation model (GWNU model), satellites data and numerical model output on the Korean peninsula. The Meteorological input data to perform the GWNU model are retrieved aerosol optical thickness from MODIS (TERA/AQUA), total ozone amount from OMI (AURA), cloud fraction from geostationary satellites (MTSAT-1R) and temperature, pressure and total precipitable water from output of RDAPS (Regional Data Assimilation and Prediction System) and KLAPS (Korea Local Analysis and Prediction System) model operated by KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration). The model is carried out every hour using by the meteorological data (total ozone amount, aerosol optical thickness, temperature, pressure and cloud amount) and the basic data (surface albedo and DEM). And the result is analyzed the distribution in time and space and validated with 22 meteorological solar observations. The solar resources map is used to the solar energy-related industries and assessment of the potential resources for solar plant. The National Institute of Meteorological Research in KMA released $4km{\times}4km$ solar map in 2008 and updated solar map with $1km{\times}1km$ resolution and topological effect in 2010. The meteorological resources map homepage (http://www.greenmap.go.kr) is provided the various information and result for the meteorological-solar resources map.
The purpose of this study is to understand daily variation of short-wave radiation trends according to the state of surface and observation of atmosphere conditions in downtown and suburban observation area. The followings are main results from this study. 1) We found out daily air temperature variation of downtown is less than that of suburban area because of bigger heat capacity of artificial elements such as massive buildings and pavements. 2) It is more effective to estimate of air condition by water vapor pressure than relative humidity in the atmosphere. 3) The difference of solar radiation ratio between downtown and suburban area is dependant on different atmosphere conditions at two observation stations.
Recently, buildings with transparent glazing on exterior walls have increased. The transparent glazing on exterior walls gives an impression of opening through introducing external environment's elements to inside of the building, and has various merits and so on, but has defects in controling indoor environments. Especially, the excess of solar radiation in summer increases cooling load causing discomforts to occupants providing radiant environment with high temperature. Cooling load mainly depends on electricity comparing to heating load and intents to centralize specific time. So it is necessary to work out a countermeasure. In this study, showed P building with transparent glazing on exterior walls as a case, investigated indoor thermal performance, numerical analysis of P building in summer through comparing dry-sauna which is represented as radiant environment with high temperature. In the results of this study, transparent glazing space has radiant environment with high temperature such as dry-sauna because of the excess of solar radiation. Accordingly countermeasures are considered in building planning. As concrete methods, there are adiabatic effects using double glazing, use of sunscreen, blind, ventilation facilitation using natural draft, decrease of surface temperature through evaporation cooling and cooling coils.

In solar photovoltaic systems, power generation is greatly affected by the weather conditions, so it is essential to predict solar energy for stable load operation. Therefore, data on weather conditions are needed as inputs to machine learning algorithms for solar energy prediction. In this paper, we use 15 kinds of weather data such as the precipitation accumulated during the 3 hours of the surface, upward and downward longwave radiation average, upward and downward shortwave radiation average, the temperature during the past 3 hours at 2 m above from the ground and temperature from the ground surface as input data to the algorithm. We analyzed the statistical characteristics and correlations of weather data and extracted the downward and upward shortwave radiation averages as a major elements of a feature vector with high correlation of 70% or more with solar energy.
To improve the measurement accuracy of a solar-radiation observer instrument, aiming at the problem of multiorder-stray-light interference caused by the diffraction of the flat-field concave grating in the spectroscopic system, straylight suppression methods for different forms of optical traps are studied. According to the grating surface-scattering distribution-function model, the bidirectional scattering distribution function (BSDF) of a dust-polluted surface and the flat-field concave grating's transition area of the spectroscopic system is calculated, and a Lyot stop with blade baffle is designed to suppress this kind of stray light. For diffraction multiorder stray light, based on the theory of light-energy transmission, a design for precise positioning of the trench optical trap is proposed. The superiority of the method is verified through simulation and actual measurement. The simulation results show that in a spectroscopic system approximately 160 mm × 140 mm × 80 mm in size, the energy of the stray light is reduced by one order of magnitude by means of the trench optical trap and Lyot stop, and the number of beams is reduced from 5664 to 1040. The actual measurements show that the stray-light-suppression efficiency is about 69.4%, which is effective reduction of the amount of stray light.
In order to see the stratification related to the heat flux In Deukryang Bay, the oceanographic data on July 12, 1994 and the meteorological data of Kohung and Kwangju meteorological stations were analysed. The temperature durerences between the sea surface and the near bottom were 1~3 ton spring tide (July 12, 1994) In Deukryang Bay. The temperature anomalies were high about 3t during summer In 1994. These mean that the non mixing was not effective In destroying the stratification due to the sea surface heating by the solar radition, even though it was on spring tide. The maximum solar radiation was about 600 ly/day, which was the value of the same date of oceanographic observation. The sensible and the latent heat flux which are 0~100 ly/day were not so varied during summer. The absorbed heat flux through the sea surface was mostly lost by the back radiation. which ranges are about 0~-400 ly/day. The dimensionless mixing parameter related to the buoyancy flux was 5~150$\times$$10^{-5}$. The efficiency of tidal mixing to destroy the stratecation was 0.4~0.6%.
