  • Recently the ozone generation system is well used for cleaning the contaminated water by using the strong oxidization effects of ozone. In this paper the concentration, yield and generation quantity of the ozone by the Surface-Silent Discharge According to the Length of Coaxial Electrode is described. The electrodes composed of 3 electrodes-2 gaps are coaxial type and the ozone generation tube were designed and fabricated from the point of view of the energy efficiency, stability and easy control. To investigate the ozone generation dependency on electrode length, a few discharge tubes with different lengths were fabricated. The experimental equipments were provided with cooling system and dehumidifier for the many testing conditions. The main results show that the concentration, yield and generation quantity of ozone are improved by decreasing gas temperatures and increasing electrode lengths.

  • This paper reports the relationship between the surface roughness and thermal emissivity of graphite (IG-11) in nuclear reactors. The roughness was controlled by changing the oxidization time, resulting in 0, 6, and 11% losses of mass. The levels of roughness were 0.40, 0.72 and 1.09${\mu}m$ for the weight loss of 0, 6 and 11%, respectively. The binders and graphite fillers were found to have sequentially oxidized with a higher thermal emission for the highly oxidized sample, but with a lower emission when measured at a higher temperature. Our study suggests a method for predicting the thermal emission rate of graphite in a nuclear reactor based on roughness measurement.

Their studies based on multi layer structure that consists of emitting layer and carrier transporting layer using proper organic material. In this study we made multi layer device using $Eu(TTA)_3(phen)$ as a luminescence material by PVD and investigate luminous properties of each device. But oxidization of organic layer by ITO, energy walls in both pole interface, contaminations of ITO surface, importance of protecting membrane, diffusive dimming of light to cathode organic layer, these causes of degradations are common facts of a macromolecule and micromolecule. We think these degradation caused by the impact of heat and electro-chemical factor, bulk effect and interface phenomenon, and raise a question.

  • The exterior structures of natural organisms have continuously evolved by controlling wettability, such as the Namib Desert beetle, whose back has hydrophilic/hydrophobic contrast for water harvesting by mist condensation in dry desert environments, and some plant leaves that have hierarchical micro/nanostructures to collect or repel liquid water. In this work, we have provided a method for wettability contrast on metals by both nano-flake or needle patterns and tuning of the surface energy. Metals including steel alloys and aluminum were provided with hierarchical micro/nanostructures of metaloxides induced by fluorination and a subsequent catalytic reaction of fluorine ions on metal surfaces in water with various ranges from room to boiling temperature of water. Then, a hydrophobic material was deposited on the structured surfaces, rendering superhydrophobicity. Plasma oxidization induces the formation of superhydrophilic surfaces on selective regions surrounded by superhydrophobic surfaces. We show that wettability contrast surfaces align liquid water within patterned hydrophilic regions during the condensation process. Furthermore, this method could have a greater potential to align other liquids or living cells.

  • To the date, shipbuilding companies have applied shop primer coating which protects the steel surface from global oxidization in environment. Proper shop primer requires either anti-corrosion ability during construction or anti-porosity ability during welding, and those properties contradict to each other. This report tried to derive an optimizing parameter on these conflicting properties to select a proper shop primer. First, sufficient amounts of the natural salt spray tests were carried out to achieve a series of data for the anti-corrosion ability. Second, lots of T-joint fillet welding test were performed to evaluate the trapped porosity formed in the weld pool. According to the experimental data, we could achieve either the rust-formation rate or the porosity-formation rate, then, each rate was generalized as formulae. Then, we tried to combine these conflicting properties to decide an optimum shop primer.

  • We developed a simple and effective purification method to obtain high-purity single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with low surface damage. The purification process consists of oxidization at $430^{\circ}C$ for 1 h in a furnace system of air atmosphere and homogenization in dilute hydrochloric acid solution for extremely short time. The role of homogenizer was examined during purification process in terms of purity and quality of purified SWCNTs. High-purity and low surface damage of SWCNT products was obtained using homogenizer which was operated at 8500 rpm for 10 min in the environment of 7 % HCI solution. From XRD spectra, we observed that metal catalysts were thoroughly removed. Raman spectra showed that the intensity values of crystallization ($I_{G}/I_{D}$) of purified SWCNTs were very similar with that of pristine SWCNTs. Moreover, the structure damage of purified SWCNTs was hard to find from electron microscopy. Consequently, homogenizing, which is a quick and simple manner, can be promising method for obtaining final SWCNTs with clearly high purity and crystallinity.

  • In this study, we have developed a novel wire straightener which uses the direct heating method (DHM) fer straightening the micro wire. Also, we have developed a shearing device for cutting the micro wire. In order to avoid the surface oxidization, we supplied the inert gas(Ar) during the heating process and examined the effect of gas flow rate. The effects of the tension and the current applied to the tungsten micro wires were also thoroughly studied. From various experiments and analyses, we could obtain fine straightness $(\approx1\;{\mu}m/1000\;{\mu}m)$ and roundness $(<{\pm}2{\mu}m\;/100{\mu}m)$ when the tension is $500\~~600gf$ and the current is about 1.5A. for burrfree cutting, counter-punch method which two cutters moving contrary was used. The cutting blade has various U-groove angle where upper $10^{\circ}$, $mid:25^{\circ}$, lower $0^{\circ}$. After the shearing process, we confirmed the shearing section.
