This study evaluated the multi-bonding performances of timbers as well as those of reinforcement and timber to obtain data for preparing guidelines regarding the use of timbers as large structural members. For the multi-bonding performances of timbers, four types of bonding surfaces were prepared according to the pith position. For the bonding performances of FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic)/steel plate and timber, a total of 11 types of specimens were produced for the selection of the appropriate adhesive. The bonding performances of the produced specimens were evaluated through a water soaking delamination test, a water boiling delamination test, and a block shear strength test. The test results showed that the bonding strength of the bonding surface according to the pith position was highest in the specimen for which the two sections with the pith at the center of the cross-section on timber and between the bonding surfaces (the tangential and radial sections were mixed) were bonded. Furthermore, the specimens for which the section (radial section) with the pith on the bonding surface of the timber was bonded showed a high delamination percentage. The results of the block shear strength test showed that the bonding section did not have a significant effect on the shear strength, and that the measured wood failure percentage was higher than the KS standard value. The PVAc adhesive showed the highest bonding strength between larix timber and GFRP (glass FRP). Furthermore, the epoxy and polyurethane adhesives showed good bonding strength for CFRP (carbon FRP) and structure steel, respectively.

In order to understand the delamination between leadframe and epoxy molding compound in an electronic packaging of surface mounting type, the stress intensity factor, T-stress and J-integral in fracture mechanics are obtained. The effects of geometry, material properties and molding process temperature on the delamination are investigated taking into account the temperature dependence of the material properties, which simulates as more realistic condition. As the crack length increases the J-integral increases, which suggest that the crack propagates if it starts growing from the small size. The effects of the material properties and molding process temperature on stress intensity factor, T-stress is and J-integral are less significant than the chip size for the practical cases considered here. The T-stress is negative in all eases, which is in agreement with observation that interfacial crack is not kinked until the crack approaches the edge of the leadframe.
Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) composite provides outstanding mechanical capabilities and is therefore popular in the automotive and aerospace industries. Drilling is a common final production technique for composite laminates however, drilling high-strength composite laminates is extremely complex and challenging. The delamination of composites during the drilling at the entry and exit of the hole has a severe impact on the results of the holes surface and the material properties. The major goal of this research is to investigate contemporary industry solutions for drilling CFRP composites: enhanced edge geometries of cutting tools. This study examined the occurrence of delamination at the entry and exit of the hole during the drilling. For each of the 80°, 90°, and 118°point angle uncoated Brad point, Dagger, and Twist solid carbide drills, Taguchi design of experiments were undertaken. Cutting parameters included three variable cutting speeds (100-125-150 m/min) and feed rates (0.1-0.2-0.3 mm/rev). Brad point drills induced less delamination than dagger and twist drills, according to the research, and the best cutting parameters were found to be a combination of maximum cutting speed, minimum feed rate, and low drill point angle (V:150 m/min, f: 0.1 mm/rev, θ: 80°). The feed rate was determined to be the most efficient factor in preventing hole entry and exit delamination using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Regression analysis was used to create first-degree mathematical models for each cutting tool's entrance and exit delamination components. The results of optimization, mathematical modelling, and experimental tests are thought to be reasonably coherent based on the information obtained.

In this study the fire, due to overturning of oil tanker on the bridge induced heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis are carried out. The results of analysis for fire history of 1 hour present very large thermal gradient near the surface. However, the temperature increase of tendon & rebar that is the main resistant member of bridge is not sufficient to change material properties. The Von-Mises yield criteria is used to calculate the depth of delamination, The depth of delamination is about 4cm at center of fire and this value is close to measured value.

The purpose of this study is to confirm the decreasing problems of residual bending strength, and the fracture machanism experimentally when CFRP composite laminates are subjected to Foreign Object Damage. Composite laminates used for this experiment are CFRP orthotropy laminated plates, which have two-interfaces [O/sub 6//sup o//90/sub 6//sup o/]sub sym/ and four-interfaces [O/sub 3//sup o//90/sub 6//sup o//O/sub 3//sup o]/sub sym/. When the specimen is subjected to transverse impact by a steel ball, the delamination area generated by impact damage is observed by using SAM(Scanning Acoustic Microscope). also, Thefracture surfaces obtained by three-point bending test were observed by using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope). Then, fracture mechanism was investigated based on the observed delamination area and fracture surface. The results were summarized as follows; (1) It is found that for the specimen with more interface, the critical delamination energy is increased while delamination-development energy is decreased. (2) Residual bending strength of specimen A is greater than that of Specimen B within the impact range of impact energy 1. 65J (impacted-side compression) and 1. 45J (impacted-side tension). On the other hand, when the impact energy is beyond the above ranges, residual bending strength of specimen A is smaller than that of specimen B. (3) In specimen A and B, residual strength of CFRP plates subjected to impact damage is lower in the impacted-side compression than in the impacted-side tension. (4) In the case of impacted-side compression, fracture is propagated from the transverse crack generat-ed near impact point. On the other hand, fracture is developed toward the impact point from the edge of interface-B delamination in the case of impacted-side tension.
Recently advanced laser processing is widely introduced to improve the efficiency of micro part production and to reduce the rate of inferior goods. In this paper the trend of delamination of single layer with both thin copper and polyimide according to the variation of copper thickness was investigated using the coupled thermal-structural analysis of ANSYS. From these analyses results, some conclusions were obtained. Firstly, the maximum temperature was increasing with respect to decrease of copper thickness. Secondly the maximum strain which was in general estimation the main effect of the delamination was observed in case of the copper thickness of $5{\mu}m$. Finally the trend of the delamination was decreasing with increasing the thickness of copper layer.

Low velocity impact test and compressive residual strength test after impact were performed by using Hercules AS4/3501-6[45/0/-45/90]$_{2s}$ laminated plate to investigate the low velocity impact damage behavior and the post-impact strength degradation on orthotropic composite laminate plate. Due to the lateral impact losd, the load path showed "" shape according to the laminate central deflection. Damage in a laminate occurs by inclined matrix crack at the damage initiation load stage and vertical matrix crack, occurs on the outer surface. Evaluating the compressive residual strength after the low velocty impact test, it could be found that there is a transient range where the compressive residual strength drop suddenly in the initial damage which is in the matrix crack range and the initial delamination area. is in the matrix crack range and the initial delamination area.

To determine detection capabilities of locating steel bars and delamination inside concrete, commercially available nondestructive testing (NDT) equipments have been tested. The equipments include two radar systems and two electromagnetic method systems. The inclusions are a 19 mm diameter steel bar and 50 mm thick delamination embedded at different cover depths from the surface of concrete specimens. For the steel bar, attempts were made to determine the size of the bars by changing the diameter of the bars. A sample result of measuring horizontal spacing between doubly reinforced bars is presented in this paper. Experimental results on various measurement cases are discussed. Application of numerical modeling technique for the simulation of radar measurements and improved output display of radar measurements are also presented.
The strengthening method with CFS(Carbon Fiber Sheet) has some fatal defects that the beams strengthened with CFS is always failed far below its ultimated strenth due to rapid progress of horizontal delamination. The crack between beam and CFS are always started from the center of the beam and propagated to the end of the beam. The moment of the beam is always the largest in the middle of the beam, so is the tensile force of the CFS. The bumped surface of the CFS causes debonding force depending on the tensile force of CFS. In this study, two methods which delay early delamination are suggested and proved its validity, experimentally. The first method is using anchor bolt at the end of CFS, and the second method is using CFS wrap aroud at the center and the end of beam. The maximum load and ductility of the two methods are increased significantly. However, the maximum load is still far below the ultimate load. That's because the tensile strength of CFS is so large that its tensile strength can not be reached under normal loading condition. The ductility of the strengthened beam is improved more that twice before modiffication.
