  • The foot plays an important role in supporting the body and keeping body balance. An abnormal walking habit breaks the balance of the human body as well as the function of the foot. The foot orthotics which is designed to consider biomechanics effectively distributes the load of the human body on the sole of the foot. In this paper, gait analysis was performed for three male subjects wearing the orthotics. In this study, three male subjects were selected. The experimental apparatus consists of a plantar pressure analysis system and digital EMG system. The gait characteristics are simulated by ADAMS/LifeMOD. The COP (Center of Pressure), EMG and ground reaction force were investigated. As a result of gait analysis, the path of COP was improved and muscle activities were decreased with orthotics on the abnormal walking subjects.

  • With the advent of new order of international competition, the technology Policy of Korea has been changed from vertical one which focuses on specific technologies or selective industries to a horizontal one which supports R&D activities on a neutral basis. TIP(Technology Infrastructure Policy) is WTO free in the sense that it is Indirect method of supporting technology development and properly defined as a part of government role by OECD. Technology infrastructure is embodied in human capital, and includes also elements of physical capital and knowledge. Hence it is more differentiated than, and distinguished from conventional infrastructure. It implies a need for carefully designed strategy with the recognition of those differences. As a fundamental element of innovation and technological development, technology infrastructure should become the main focus of industrial technology Policy.

  • Business Rules are formal statements about the data and processes of an enterprise. They present projections of the organization's constraints and ways of working on their supporting information systems. Therefore, their collection, structuring and organization should be central activities within information systems. In an enterprise, business rules are used to represent certain aspects of a business domain (static rules) or business policy (dynamic rules). Hence, regarding problem domains in the organization, business rules are classified into two groups: static and dynamic business rules. The paper introduces a new concept of business rules, Extended Dynamic Business Rule (EDBR) which contains the results of the occurrence of business rule's action. The focus of this paper is in the organizing, defining and modeling of such business rules using Mineau's approach. Mineau's approach is an extension of Sowa's Conceptual Graph theory.

  • In this paper we discuss personal data management with mobile devices, an activity requiring the composition of services offered by standard suites of applications. We propose a data model and an interface model that allows users to define activities, tasks and services, to navigate among them according to the evolution of the personal situation as perceived and interpreted by the users themselves. The interface model acts as a lens exploring the situation, zooming into the details, covering different areas of the personal data, supporting the user in the role of a composer of personal services.

  • The function of river navigation is being reconsidered from the viewpoints of environment-friendly and energy-efficient, easing traffic congestion, emergency transport in disaster, and supporting tourism and recreation activities, etc. The purpose of this study is to identify current trends and problems of river navigation in Japan and indicate the role that river navigation should play in future and the directionality of development. This study focused on disaster prevention function with especially high importance degree in metropolitan area from among various functions of river navigation, and showed potential of river navigation corresponding to stranded commuter who is examined as a serious problem in government.

  • Previous studies on women who immigrated through marriage were focused on the frictional issues within the couples and their families as well as language tutoring. However, for the long-term integration of these women into society and the acquisition of status, it is most important to increase their economic value. Indeed many such women are facing economic difficulties, and have a strong desire to participate in economic activities. This study focuses on the economic self-sufficiency of these women through employment and entrepreneurship. We analyze their education level and employment experience and attempt to find the most effective policies to support them. We take particular interest in their entrepreneurial motivation and propose policies and frameworks for supporting their successful enterprise creation.

  • Network and Internet technology opens up another domain for building future CAD/CAM environment. The environment will be global, network-centric, and spatially distributed. In this paper, we present an approach for network-centric feature-based modeling in a distributed design environment. The presented approach combines the current feature-based modeling technique with distributed computing and communication technology for supporting product modeling and collaborative design activities over the network. The approach is implemented in a client/server architecture, in which Web-enabled feature modeling clients, neutral feature model server, and other applications communicate with one another via a standard communication protocol. The paper discusses how the neutral feature model supports multiple views and maintains naming consistency between geometric entities of the server and clients. Moreover, it explains how to minimize the network delay between the server and client according to incremental feature modeling operations.

  • This paper proposes a strategic breakout and supporting methodology for evaluation and implementation of e- Business solutions in the viewpoint of users. The e- Business methodology sequentially follows four logical stages: e-Business strategy, design, construction, and implementation. The e- Business strategy stage consists of four sub-stages, that is, initiation, diagnosis, strategy, and composition of RFP & evaluation Each sub-stage is divided into several steps. Each of them has its own activities, tasks, and outputs. The methodology has been composed to prevailing ones so as to reveal its practice values.

  • The activities of auxins and cytokinins have been examined in the growth of callus tissue derived from Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Damyang. The synthetic auxin, picloram was the most effective in promoting callus growth and the range of effective concentrations (0.1$\mu{M}$ to 32$\mu{M}$) was broad. 2, 4-D also enhanced callus growth at the optimal concentration of 3.2$\mu{M}$. NAA promoted callus growth at relatively higher concentrations than other auxins tested. IAA was less effective in supporting callus growth. Cytokinin bearing saturated side chain ($N^6$-isopentyladenine) was approximately 30 times more active than the corresponding unsaturated compound, $N^6$-($\D^2$-isopentenyl) adenine. The abilities of cytokinin-autonomous growth were also examined. Callus tissues previously grown on concentrations lower and/or higher than optimal concentrations of cytokinins were better habituated in the subsequent passage. It was suggested that the development of cytokinin autonomy may be related to dosage-concentrations of cytokinin in the previous passage.
