  • We propose classification algorithms for human and dog movement. The proposed algorithms use micro-Doppler signals obtained from humans and dogs moving in four different directions. A two-stage classifier based on a support vector machine (SVM) is proposed, which uses a radial-based function (RBF) kernel and $16^{th}$-order linear predictive code (LPC) coefficients as feature vectors. With the proposed algorithms, we obtain the best classification results when a first-level SVM classifies the type of movement, and then, a second-level SVM classifies the moving object. We obtain the correct classification probability 95.54% of the time, on average. Next, to deal with the difficult classification problem of human and dog running, we propose a two-layer convolutional neural network (CNN). The proposed CNN is composed of six ($6{\times}6$) convolution filters at the first and second layers, with ($5{\times}5$) max pooling for the first layer and ($2{\times}2$) max pooling for the second layer. The proposed CNN-based classifier adopts an auto regressive spectrogram as the feature image obtained from the $16^{th}$-order LPC vectors for a specific time duration. The proposed CNN exhibits 100% classification accuracy and outperforms the SVM-based classifier. These results show that the proposed classifiers can be used for human and dog classification systems and also for classification problems using data obtained from an ultra-wideband (UWB) sensor.

  • Recently, the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) coverage has expanded to include coastal areas following the increased attention on vessel traffic safety. However, it has increased the workload on the VTS operators. In some cases, when the traffic volume increases sharply during the rush hour, the VTS operator may not be aware of the risks. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed a new method to recognize ship movement anomalies automatically to support the VTS operator's decision-making. The proposed method generated traffic pattern model without any category information using the unsupervised learning algorithm.. The anomaly score can be calculated by classification and comparison of the trained model. Finally, we reviewed the experimental results using a ship-handling simulator and the actual trajectory data to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.

  • The authors' theory developed in the preceding Paper 1 was applied to plastic deformation of ceramics, metals, alloys and single crystals. For polycrystalline substances, the flow mechanisms due to dislocation movement and grain boundary movement appear together or separately according to the experimental conditions whereas for single crystals, only the mechanism of dislocation movement appears. The parameters appearing in the flow equations $({\alpha}_{d1},\;1/{\beta}_{d1})and\;({\alpha}_{gj}/X_{gj},\;1/{\beta}_{gj})$ (j = 1 or 2), and the activation enthalpies ${\Delta}H_{k1}^{\neq}$ (k = d or g) were determined and tabulated. Here, the subscript d1 indicates the first kind of dislocation flow units and gj expresses the jth kind of grain boundary flow units. The predictions of the theory were compared with experiment with good agreement. Concerning the activation enthalpies, it was found that ${\Delta}H_{d1}^{\neq}$ 〉{\Delta}H_{g1}^{\neq}$ and that the former agrees with the activation enthalpy for bulk self-diffusion whereas the latter agrees with the activation enthalpy for grain boundary self-diffusion. These facts support the adequacy of the authors' theory which is considered as a generalized theory of plastic deformation.

  • This study conducted a survey to gauge the buying and wearing propensities of wearers of leg guards made for baseball catchers, as well as product characteristics of preferred leg guards. Data from the survey were analyzed to obtain basic data for the development of an advanced leg guard design. Degree of compression, horizontal distance, cross section view and outline 3D sketch were also analyzed from the 3D data of leg guards; in addition, mobility and kinematic analysis were conducted through a wearing test. The survey indicated that imported products dominate the current retail market because they are appreciated by customers in terms of fit, price, brand, and protection. Representative complaints of products were discomfort, pressure, and the heavy-weight of the leg guards in general attributed to overall structure and 3D shape. When the pressure was lower on the front area of knee, it feels better to wear and the average knee angular velocity during the up and down motion increased, which suggests a better design from a kinematic point of view. The knee is the primary part of the body responsible for any movement of the lower limbs; consequently, the degree of compression and support stability of the leg guards near the knee area are important factors to evaluate the performance of leg guards. The results of our study indicate significant opportunities for improvement in product design and the development of baseball leg guards along with an ergonomic design that considers the mobility of the knee, skin deformations is necessary to improve performance. The process followed in this study will be applicable to studies on other personal protective equipment for sports.

  • Many dissemination protocols on the mobility support in wireless sensor networks have been designed based on the assumption that the movement trace of sinks, such as soldiers and fire fighters, is random. However, the mobility of the sinks in many applications, for example, the movement trace of a soldier on operation in a battle field, can be determined in advance. In this paper, we propose a Predictable Mobility-based Data Dissemination protocol that enables data to directly route from source nodes to moving sinks by taking into consideration predictable movement behavior of the sinks. We also show the superiority of the predictable mobility-based data dissemination protocol through the performance comparison with the random mobility-based data dissemination protocols.

  • The PULSE protocol can greatly reduce power consumption using a node's sleep state. But this protocol does not consider movement of a sink node in a sensor network. In the mobile sensor network a routing protocol must recover path error by movement of a sink node as quickly as possible. Therefore we have to achieve fast path recovery and power saving to support movement of a sink node in a sensor network. This paper proposes the Mobile PULSE protocol which is a improved routing protocol for a mobile sink node. And we evaluate Mobile PULSE and show that the Mobile PULSE reduces the recovery time about 40% compared with original PULSE protocol. Mobile PULSE increases energy consumption than PULSE as a maximum of 0.8%, which means Mobile PULSE is similar to PULSE in energy consumption. This paper shows mobile PULSE's capability in the mobile sensor network through evaluation of path recovery time and power consumption.

  • Impression taking is a very important procedure in complete denture fabrication for reproduction of the tissue surface from which obtain retention and support of denture base. Therefore, we can not construct retentive denture without precise impression taking. Retention in complete denture can be obtained by the closest contact between denture base and underlying tissue, maximum coverage and proper displacement of the border tissue for peripheral sealing. Therefore, it is very important to take impression of the border tissue displaced properly. Nowadays, impression of the border tissue is mainly taken by the border molding techniques by means of manual muscle trimming, but due to various muscle trimming methods as clinicians, it is difficult to select proper method. This technique is also bodersome to do and time-consuming procedure. Retention is also likely reduced, because of the recording excessive muscle movement than actural physiological border tissue movement. Therefore, the impression technique that records actual physiologic functional muscle movement is helpful to increase denture retention and easy to do. We named this technique a functional border molding technique. This technique is originally introduced by D. J. Neill and R. I. Nairn in 1968. We tried to fabricate complete denture by the impression by means of functional border molding technique for better retention and the convenience, and obtained good results.

  • A new type of high precision electromagnetic suspension (EMS) which can support heavy tray along long stroke rail is proposed in this paper. Compared with the conventional EMS, the suggested moving-core typed EMS has the levitation electromagnets (EMs) on the fixed rail. This scheme has high load capability caused by iron-core and enables simple tray structure. Also it does not have precision degradation caused by heat generation from EMs, which is a drawback of conventional EMS. With these merits, the proposed EMS can be an optimal contactless linear bearing in next generation flat panel display (FPD) manufacturing process if the ability of long stroke movement is proved. So a special Section Switching Algorithm (SSA) is derived from the resultant force and moment equations of the levitated tray which enables long stroke movement of the tray. In order to verify the feasibility of the suggested SSA, a simple test-setup of the EMS with 2 Section-changes is made up and servo-controlled in the simulation and experiment. The simulation shows the perfect changeover the EMs, and the experiment shows overall control performance of under ${\pm}40{\mu}m$ gap deviations. These results reveal that the newly suggested contactless linear bearing can simultaneously achieve high load capability and precision gap control as well as long stroke.

  • Recently, wireless LAN circumstance is being widely deployed in Public spots. Many People use Portable equipments such as PDA and laptop computer for multimedia applications, and also demand of mobility support is increasing. However, handoff latency is inevitably occurred between both APs when clients move from one AP to another. To reduce handoff latency. in this paper, we suggest WFH(Weighted Frequent Handoff) using effective data structure. WFH improves cache hit ratio using a new cache replacement algorithm considering the movement pattern of users. It also reduces unessential duplicate traffics. Our algorithm uses FHR(Frequent Handoff Region) that can change pre-authentication lesion according to QoS based user level, movement Pattern and Neighbor Graph that dynamically captures network movement topology.
