  • In this paper we have proposed policy-based network management system architecture for Internet QoS support Mobile IP networks that is divided into four layers(application layer, information management layer, policy control layer, device layer), then we propose an implementation strategy of policy-based network management system to enforce various control and network management operations and a model of policy server using SCOPS(Simple Common Open Policy Service) protocol that is developed in this research. For policy-based mobile IP network management system implementation, we have derived four policy classes(access control, mobile IP operation, QoS control, and network monitoring) and we showed operation procedures for each policy scenarios. Finally we have implemented Internet QoS support policy-based mobile IP network testbed and management system and verified out DiffServ policy enforcement behaviors for a target class service that is arranged a specific bandwidth on network congestion conditions.

  • A high-performance forward osmosis (FO) membrane was prepared using polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA) hydrogel as a support layer. Through the UV-induced polymerization and subsequent phase separation of PEGDA, the crosslinked, hydrophilic, and porous PEGDA suppor layer was obtained. To achieve high FO flux and salt selectivity using the fabricated PEGDA support, a selective layer was synthesized via the toluene-assisted interfacial polymerization (TIP), in which toluene is used as an organic solvent. The prepared PEGDA-based FO membrane showed higher FO water flux and lower salt selectivity compared with commercial HTI membranes using 1.0 M NaCl draw solution and DI water feed solution. We propose the strategy to fabricate high-performance FO membranes utilizing supports formed with new hydrophilic materials and fabrication processes.

  • Pd-based membranes have been widely used in hydrogen purification and separation due to their high hydrogen diffusivity and infinite selectivity. However, it has been difficult to fabricate thin and dense Pd-based membranes on a porous stainless steel(PSS) support. In case of a conventional PSS support having the large size of surface pores, it was required to use complex surface treatment and thick Pd coating more than $6{\mu}m$ on the PSS was required in order to form pore free surface. In this study, we could fabricate thin and dense Pd membrane with only $3{\mu}m$ Pd layer on a new PSS support manufactured by metal injection molding(MIM). The PSS support had low surface roughness and mean pore size of $5{\mu}m$. Pd membrane were prepared by advanced Pd sputter deposition on the modified PSS support using fine polishing and YSZ vacuum filling surface treatment. At temperature $400^{\circ}C$ and transmembrane pressure difference of 1 bar, hydrogen flux and selectivity of $H_2/N_2$ were $11.22ml\;cm^{-2}min^{-1}$ and infinity, respectively. Comparing with $6{\mu}m$ Pd membrane, $3{\mu}m$ Pd membrane showed 2.5 times higher hydrogen flux which could be due to the decreased Pd layer thickness from $6{\mu}m$ to $3{\mu}m$ and an increased porosity. It was also found that pressure exponent was changed from 0.5 on $6{\mu}m$ Pd membrane to 0.8 on $3{\mu}m$ Pd membrane.

  • In the GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) network, the transport layer between SGSN(Serving GPRS Support Node) and GGSN (Gateway GPRS Support Node) is based on IP-Over ATM Network. which means that the connectionless IP traffic is transmitted through connection oriented ATM transport layer. Efficient resource management is needed to perform connection and disconnection of the pertinent VC because of the connectionless IP traffic being passed through ATM transport layer In this paper, Internet Web service traffic model in the GPRS network is applied to the various VC holding Cost Pricing Model. each method is compared through analyzing each VC utilization and setup rate.

  • In this paper, we propose a transport layer mobility support protocol for multimedia streaming services in mobile/wireless environments by extending PR-SCTP to support mobility. We named the proposed scheme to be uPR-mSCTP. The rules related to provide unordered and unreliable data transfer, as well as an approach to minimize handover latency we proposed. Through the simulation results, it is shown that, since uPR-mSCTP reduces transmission rates during handover, not only it reduces the waste of network resources, but it also has the packet loss rate similar to FMIPv6, which is a lot smaller than UDP over MIPv6 or HMIPv6 It also incurs smaller control packet overhead compared to the network layer mobility support approaches.

  • A set of slurry shield test system capable of cutter cutting and slurry automatic circulation is used to investigate the deformation characteristics, the evolution characteristics of support resistance and the distribution and evolution process of earth pressure during excavating and collapsing of slurry shield tunneling in circular-gravel layer. The influence of cover-span ratio on surface subsidence, support resistance and failure mode of excavation face is also discussed. Three-dimensional numerical calculations are performed to verify the reliability of the test results. The results show that, with the decrease of the supporting force of the excavation face, the surface subsidence goes through four stages: insensitivity, slow growth, rapid growth and stability. The influence of shield excavation on the axial earth pressure of the front soil is greater than that of the vertical earth pressure. When the support resistance of the excavation face decreases to the critical value, the soil in front of the excavation face collapses. The shape of the collapse is similar to that of a bucket. The ultimate support resistance increase with the increase of the cover-span ratio, however, the angle between the bottom of the collapsed body and the direction of the tunnel excavation axis when the excavation face is damaged increase first and then becomes stable. The surface settlement value and the range of settlement trough decrease with the increase of cover-span ratio. The numerical results are basically consistent with the model test results.

  • In this paper, a model for two-layered video traffic is proposed. The performance analysis of the proposed model and the effects of two-layer coding scehemes in ATM networks are also studied. ATM-based networks give the possibility to support image codingat variable bit rate(VBR). Two layer coding is one of the very promising methods among many proposed methods to compensate the cell loss, the major drawback in ATM networks. From the experimental data of the 2-layer coded video traffics, it is observed that traffic patterns of base layer and enhanced layer are highly correlate to each other, when constant image quality is kept. With this observation, coded two layered video traffic can be modeled as 2-dimensional Markov chain. The model well fit the real experimental data. The model was used for the analysis of the performance of statistical multiplexer with priorites in ATM networks.

  • This paper discusses how to design a game server that is scalable, adaptable, and re-buildable with components. Furthermore, it explains how various implementation issues were resolved. To support adaptability, the server comprises three layers: network, user, and database. To ensure independence between the layers, each layer was designed to communicate with each other only via message queues. In this architecture, each layer can have an arbitrary number of threads; thus, scalability is guaranteed for each layer. The network layer uses input/output completion ports(IOCP), which shows the best performance on the Windows platform, it can handle up to 5,000 simultaneous connections on a typical entry-level computer, despite being built with a single-threaded user layer. To completely separate the database from the game server, the SQL code was not directly embedded in the database layer.

  • Recently, transport layer mobility supporting approaches based on SCTP, which is a new standard transport layer protocol, are proposed. In this paper, the handover performance and overheads of these transport layer mobility supporting approaches are compared to those of the traditional network layer mobility supporting approaches. Through the simulation results, it is shown that the handover performance of the transport layer mobility supporting approaches is better or at least similar to that of the plain MIPv6, which is the representative network layer mobility supporting approach. With respect to the amount of control packet, the transport layer approaches impose less overhead than any of the network layer approaches.

  • The development of wireless network technology and the increasing use of wireless networks to mobile users with a variety of wireless network systems has arisen. Wireless sensor networks, they can be nested together, and the need to switch between the network, depending on your needs. Next Generation Wireless Networks(NGWN) gives the mobile user a wide coverage and optimized service etc. Previous hand off management protocol is not enough to secure support of the NGWN application program. Cross-layer Handoff(CLH) protocol technique has been developed to support between and inside networks of handoff management of NGWN. CLH supports mobility management in a wireless network environment and also utilizes mobility speed and handoff signaling delay information to improve the handoff performance ability. For the analysis of handoff performance ability, we analyzed sensitivity of link layer and network layer, therefore, CLH technique is suggested based on this analysis.
