  • This paper deals with measurement on the economic impact of tax-free oil for Agriculture in Korea. According to increasing of world oil price, the supply policy of agricultural tax-free oil, which specified to support farmers since 1986, are required to expand by farmers. But the supply quantity of tax-free oil is deceased continuously and Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy(MOTIE) present stance of sundown policy of tax-free oil for agriculture. In this context, It is necessary and important to measure the economic impact of the supply policy of tax-free oil for agriculture. This study address a econometric method for measurement the economic impact of the supply policy of tax-free oil and suggest several policy implements. Our results show that when the supply policy of tax-free oil for agriculture is annihilated in phases over the five years. the agricultural GDP is decreased by about 3,195 billion korean won and the agricultural price level is increased by 26.6 points after 5 years.

  • Recently, In Korea Electric power Corporation guarantee free using, which separate a class of electric supply with a group of generates electricity and supply, so a market price is decided by demand and supply that take part in a tender. In this treatise predict about demand of power by abstracting a pattern cause it (temperature and economic growth). Also it proposes market price of the best electricity power generation with predicted data that is made database and is showed by Web. The proposed system is increased satisfaction of consumer through smoothness of power supply and demand that rises competitiveness through exactly estimated demand at power supply and demand and supply market will open the future. Moreover consumers can reduce expenses of basic charge. Because they beforehand predict and analyze a mount of power spending with former times so a provider concludes the lowest price and reduction effect of basic charge that needed producing of power.

  • This study was conducted with the purpose of focusing on local water supply services, identifying equity and influencing factors, and analyzing the results. Using the Coulter model for 152 local governments across the country, equity was measured for six variables, including average unit price, rates of recovering costs from water price, revenue water ratio, water supply rate, number of employees, and customer satisfaction. Among them, the level of inequality in the average unit price was the highest. As a result of trend analysis, the degree of equity of most variables decreased. In addition, through Tobit analysis, factors influencing equity such as financial independence, local tax burden, and administrative district level were confirmed. In order to provide equitable water supply services, institutional changes such as rate increases are needed. And the government and local governments must pursue various water supply plans.

  • This paper presents an engineering approach to derive the optimum price levels of transacted power. In this paper, with the assumption that power import is possible through the system connection in Northeast Asia regions, the upper price limit of imported power deserving economic efficiency was derived with respect to the time and amount of power import. The proposed approach was demonstrated based on the data from the National Power Development Planning in 2004 with the WASP model.

  • The results of a study of the coordination effect in stocking and promotional markdown policies for a supply chain consisting of a retailer and a discount outlet (DCO) are reported here. We assume that the product is sold in two consecutive periods: the Normal Sales Period (NSP) and the subsequent Promotional Markdown Sales Period (PSP). We first study an integrated supply chain in which managers in the two periods design a common system so as to jointly decide the stocking quantities, markdown time schedule, and markdown price to maximize mutual profit. Next, we consider a decentralized supply chain. An uncoordinated contract is designed in which decisions are decentralized to optimize the individual party's objective function. Here, three sources of system inefficiencies cause the decentralized system to earn a lower expected system profit than that in the integrated supply chain. The three sources are as follows: in the decentralized system the retailer tends to (1) stock less, and (2) keep a longer sales period, and the DCO tends to (3) stock fewer leftovers inventories and charge a higher markdown price. Finally, a numerical experiment is provided to compare the coordinated model with the uncoordinated model to explore factors that make coordination an effective approach.

  • SCM activities in a company are considered as total innovation through synchronizing supply and demand while maintaining appropriate inventory level and reducing the business operating costs. Until now, even several researches are carried out on the SCM performance of the companies which have introduced and been operating SCM, the research on the cost analysis for the inventory which occurs frequently on supply chain is still insufficient. Especially, for the electronics industry in which the product depreciation is sharp caused by the short product life cycle and the complexity of distribution channels, even the inventory related costs are a major factor in business management, since the current estimated criteria of inventory costs are limited to the interest and maintenance management costs, the criteria do not reflect the total influence of the product depreciation and lost opportunity cost which are related to the business management. Furthermore, even though the rapid price drops of the distributor inventory caused by the frequent new model launch can be covered by the product manufacturers, the scale of total costs related to the inventory has not been conceived because the price compensation is traditionally considered as a market costs. In this research, we analyzed the inventory characteristics of electronics industry in which the price depreciation happens frequently, newly defining the estimated criteria of the product total inventory cost which includes price depreciation from the product manufacturers' view. Finally we focus on the case study of a representative electronics company and verify the scale of the influence on management performance.

  • The article studies macroeconomic effects of the oil shock for Korea, which is a representative emerging economy of Asia and a small open economy. This article analyzed the macroeconomic effects of oil shocks in terms of demand and supply. In the case of Korea, oil price shocks different responds depending on factors of shock. Oil supply shock have led to a decline in industrial activity and interest rate, and oil specific demand shock have shown the greatest increase in interest rate relative to other oil price shocks. In addition, oil demand shock driven by economic activity showed that the comsumer price and the exchange rate are the largest compared to the oil shock caused by other factors. Therefore, policy makers will need to identify the source of the oil shock.

  • Wastepaper recycling has significant implications not only in providing scarce raw material input for the paper industry but in environmental concerns such as reducing solid waste disposal, energy conservation and preservation of forest resources. The objectives of this study was (1) to develop an econometric model of demand for and supply of wastepaper, (2) to forecast wastepaper consumption and price to the year 2000 applying the econometric models estimated and (3) to estimate the elasticity of variables which are included in the wastepaper supply and demand equations. In this study wastepaper was classified into three groups, old newsprint, old corrugated and mixed For each group such as demand and supply equation were estimated. The demand equations were estimated as a function of paper and paper product consumption and wholesale price index and supply equations as a function of wastepaper price, one year lagged paper and paperproduct consumption and transportation price. Applying the econometric models to forcasting results in the future consumption and supply of wastepaper projected as 11.645 million MT and 7.396 million MT in 2000, respectively. The rate of wastepaper self-supply is forcasted about 63.5% in 2000. Especially, the rate of old neswprint self-supply is predicted about 16% which means about 2.2 million MT of old newsprint should be imported from foreign countries. Lastly, some policy measures to promote wastepaper recycling rate based upon economic and physical characteristics of wastepaper and market structure are suggested.
