  • Many previous studies on the subject of supply chain have consistently claimed that they need collaboration among the partners of supply chains in order to enhance supply chain performance. The purpose of research is to examine the causal linkages among relational characteristics, collaboration, performance in the logistics firm and this research focuses on two types collaboration(operational collaboration and strategic collaboration) as the mediation variable between relational characteristics and supply chain performance. To test the above research questions, we collected data from logistics firm(N=164). The proposed structural model was tested using the PLS(Partial Least Square) statistical program. The research results are as follows. Trust, and information sharing have positive influences on operational collaboration, and operational collaboration have also positive influences on supply chain performance. Duration and information sharing have positive influences on strategic collaboration. However, strategic collaboration has non-positive influences on supply chain performance. The effect of relational characteristics on supply chain performance is mediated by operational collaboration.

  • In recent years, as there is growing concern with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), the strategic direction of business management is changing from maximizing shareholders wealth to maximizing stakeholders value. ESG is reshaping a corporation's supply chain management strategies. The purpose of this study is to explore the ESG challenges in supply chain management. As a result of network text analysis and topic modeling analysis on 3226 news articles, 'Suppliers', 'Sustainability', 'Shared Growth' 'Carbon Neutral', 'Safety and Health', 'Responsible Business Alliance', 'Supply Chain Due Diligence Law' were identified as the main issue. Since ESG initiatives in the supply chain are not limited to the efforts of individual firms, future research should focus on figuring out what difficulties and challenges exist in the diffusion of ESG practices along multi-tiered supply chains, and how to overcome them.

  • Busan port has played a part as the main trade gateway in Korea for several decades. However, due to the rapid integration of China into the global economy and the grand changes in global trade structures, the trade gateway system in Korea and the status of Busan port have been transformed. Busan port's role as a trade gateway toward Japan and U.S. has increased during last two decades but, in cases of China, its importance has relatively decreased. Moreover, Busan port's competitiveness has been undermined in the most part of commodity trade. These phenomena reflect the high competition among trade ports which tend to increase the effectiveness of supply chains. Based on the geographical research tradition which has understood a port as a nexus between hinterland and foreland, this study focuses the changes in characteristics of trade freights and the status as a gateway of Busan port. This approach will contribute to the understandings of dynamics in the comtemporary international logistics.

  • Agricultural systems in South Asian countries are dominated by smallholder farmers. Additionally, these farmers have limited access to pre- and post-harvest technologies due to their high initial cost. The lack of these technologies in postharvest handling is responsible for 20% to 44% of fruit and vegetable losses. These high losses are largely the result of a generally weak basic postharvest infrastructure for the preservation of products, which avoids damage from improper handling, transportation, packaging, and storage. High postharvest losses of products negatively affect food availability, food security, and nutrition, as the producer is able to sell less of the farm yield and the net availability of these food commodities for consumption is reduced. An underlying cause of these postharvest losses is the limited awareness and knowledge bases of stakeholders (researchers, farmers, governments, non-governmental organizations, and merchants) in the traditional supply chains in which these losses occur. The analysis presented in this paper explores the state of postharvest practice in South Asian countries and discusses options for low-cost postharvest technologies in the region that can support small-scale farmers and provide a viable pathway for supply to the market, joining with modern value chains and bringing about individual and regional reduction in postharvest losses of fruits and vegetables. The improvement of basic and simple low-cost technologies through precise research efforts has the potential to prevent such huge losses of products, and help meet the ever-increasing demand for food in South Asian countries.

  • In recent years, for the purpose of solving the problem regarding environment protection and resource saving, certain measures and policies have been promoted to establish a reverse supply chains (RSCs) with material flows from collection of used products to reuse the recycled parts in production of products. It is necessary to analyze behaviors of RSC members to determine the optimal operation. This paper discusses a RSC with a retailer and a manufacturer and verifies the behavior strategies of RSC members which may change over time in response to changes parameters related to the recycling promotion activity in RSC. A retailer takes two behaviors: cooperation/non-cooperation in recycling promotion activity. A manufacturer takes two behaviors: monitoring/non-monitoring of behaviors of the retailer. Evolutionary game theory combining the evolutionary theory of Darwin with game theory is adopted to clarify analytically evolutionary outcomes driven by a change in each behavior of RSC members over time. The evolutionary stable strategies (ESSs) for RSC members' behaviors are derived by using the replicator dynamics. The analysis numerically demonstrates how parameters of the recycling promotion activity: (i) sale promotion cost, (ii) monitoring cost, (iii) compensation and (iv) penalty cost affect the judgment of ESSs of behaviors of RSC members.

  • One of the most important issues of managing a supply chain is to determine the inventory level whenever shortage is permitted and vendor is responsible fur management of the both buyer and supplier's inventory. We present two vendor managed inventory models in the form of two-echelon supply chain models for: 1) one buyer-one supplier problem, and 2) two buyers- one supplier problem. We assume that shortage is permitted. The proposed methods of this paper provides a simple condition, which makes it easy to decide when and how vendor managed inventory model costs less than traditional one. The paper is supported with some numerical examples to show the implementation of the proposed methods.

  • The semiconductor industry, which relies on global supply chains, has recently been facing longer lead time for material procurement due to supply chain uncertainties. Moreover, since increasing customer satisfaction and reducing inventory costs are in a trade-off relationship, it is challenging to determine the appropriate safety stock level under demand and lead time uncertainties. In this paper, we propose a framework for determining safety stock levels by utilizing the optimization method to determine the optimal safety stock level. Additionally, we employ a linear regression method to analyze customer satisfaction scores and inventory costs based on variations in lead time and demand. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed framework, we compared safety stock levels obtained by the regression equations with those of the conventional method. The numerical experiments demonstrated that the proposed method successfully reduces inventory costs while maintaining the same level of customer satisfaction when lead time increases.

  • This study analyzed concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) produced from incineration of plastic wastes at $600^{\circ}C$. The plastic wastes used in this study included polyethyleneterephthlate (PETE), high density polyethylene (HOPE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), low density polyethylene (LOPE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS) and other. Plastic wastes were heated from room temperature upto $600^{\circ}C$ providing the compressed air inside of a small-scale electric furnace for 90 minutes and then they were oxidized (incinerated) for 60 minutes at $600^{\circ}C$ maintaining the same air supply. VOCs emitted from the incineration process were sampled using an air sampling pump and Tedlar air bags for 150 minutes and then the components and concentrations of the VOCs were analyzed by a GC-MS. The most prominent chemical structure of the VOCs obtained from the incineration process of the HOPE, LOPE and PP, which include ethylene groups in their main chains, was identified as aliphatic hydrocarbons such as 1-hexene. However, aromatics such as benzene were major chemical structure from the incineration of PETE, PVC and PS which include benzene rings in their main chains. This study estimated the total VOC production from the incineration of the plastic wastes based on the real plastic waste production and the emission factors. 64% and 27% of the total VOC emissions consisted of aliphatic hydrocarbons and aromatics, respectively, which have double bonds within their molecular structure and thus a high ground level ozone formation potential.
