  • The purpose of this study was to find out the most reasonable design in the superstructure of an underground parking lot which needs to be considered with the economic efficiency being influenced on the subdivision price, construction duration, workability and the maintenance of crack and leakage status of apartment house. In this research, we've evaluated the fitness for the superstructure of an underground parking lot by examination of construction constraint, which was based on the calculated data of structural design and quantity survey. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. The system of the absent structure of beam is proper structure for economic efficiency, construction duration and workability, but it is disadvantageous at the side of maintenance efficiency because of the many part of large slab. In the opposite direction, the establishing structure of beam has the advantages of structural stability except economic efficiency, construction duration and workability 2. It's required a proper selection for the views being contrary to each other which the owners considers good quality, on the other hand, the contractors consider construction duration and workability. 3. In making a selection for the superstructure of an underground parking lot, we have concluded that it is the most important to choose the proper structure for the demanded performance by contrasting with two system. • A parametric modeling method, one of the core technology of BIM (Building Information Modeling), is proposed for efficient 3D assembly design among components of a superstructure module of modular steel bridge. Assembly system is classified into 3 levels as LoD (Level of Details) for 3D assembly design of the parts. Components forming 3D shape of the parts are identified and defined as parameters, variables depending on parameters, or constants independent of the parameters. Then, spatial assembly rules among the parts are defined according to the assembly system. Positional relations among the identified shape components are defined for mating spatial position and geometrical relations are defined for constraining degree of freedom on X, Y, and Z axis. Finally, a standardized template is designed by applying the rules to 3D based assembly design for the parts of the superstructure module. In addition, applicability of the parametric modeling method is demonstrated by testing the shape variation of the superstructure module according to changing the defined parameters.

  • On an offshore plant topside, various types of offshore facilities for processing energy resources, such as oil and gas, and equipment and outfitting for connecting these facilities are installed in a limited space. An offshore plant superstructure is composed of numerous supporting rack structures and reinforcements for securing and supporting offshore installations and the related equipment. This paper describes the development of design support software to support this superstructure design efficiently. The developed design support software, which was based on AVEVA Marine's PML(Programmable Macro Language), supports the parametric method for superstructure design. A method of batch 3D modeling from 2D drawings for supporting rack structure produced in the basic and detailed design was also developed using AutoLisp. In addition, through the application example of superstructure module design, the design support software introduced in this paper can be expected to reduce the design time by more than 90% compared to the use of only basic functions of AVEVA PDMS.

  • The effect of thermal stress on a ship's hull is not considered to be serious by most naval architects. Frequently, however, cracking of hulls has been reported which occurred at sea while there were no external forces except the heat from the sun. Detailed investigations have been made of these reports and it has been reliably determined that the damage was initiated by solar heating. The author is not interested in all steel ship or in the applicability and validity of the formular itself, as it has already been proven by the experiments such as S.S. Boulder Victory. The author therefore proceeds directly to calculate the stress distribution on he hull and superstructure of the prototype model ship. These calculations are based on the experimental nonsymetrical temperature gradient data taken earlier on the Boulder Victory. The calculations were made principally to determine the extent of stresses which occurred on an all-steel ship in one case and secondly, those that occurred on a ship with a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure. From the calculations, the author expected the stress distribution of the two case would show distinctly different aspects, but the acquired results were very similar. Generally, at the point of junction of the steel hull and aluminum superstructure sharp peak stresses appeared. At the juncture of the superstructure and the main deck the ship with the aluminum superstructure registered almost 1000 psi more stress than did the ship with the all-steel construction. In the view of these findings, the author recommends to ship designers that pay particular attention to the point of junction of steel and aluminum plate. The author has proven that it is extremely important that a greater safety factor be used at the aluminum-steel junction point than at any other point. Although thermal effects cause high juncture-point stresses in all-steel ships, they are not nearly as critical as in ship constructed of two or more metals.

  • Two-dimensional hydraulic model experiments on rubble mound structure armoring with the tetrapods and the superstructure were conducted to investigate wave transmission characteristics under irregular wave conditions. The previous studies about the wave transmission coefficients dealt with the low crested structures, therefore the rock was the main armor units and the superstructure was not constructed. In this study, the new empirical design formula for the wave transmission coefficient about rubble mound structure with the tetrapods and the superstructure was suggested and the effects of wave steepness and the row of the tetrapods in front of the superstructure could be considered.

  • The effect of soil-structure interaction on a single-storey, two-bay space frame resting on a pile group embedded in the cohesive soil (clay) with flexible cap is examined in this paper. For this purpose, a more rational approach is resorted to using the finite element analysis with realistic assumptions. Initially, a 3-D FEA is carried out independently for the frame on the premise of fixed column bases in which members of the superstructure are discretized using the 20-node isoparametric continuum elements. Later, a model is worked out separately for the pile foundation, by using the beam elements, plate elements and spring elements to model the pile, pile cap and soil, respectively. The stiffness obtained for the foundation is used in the interaction analysis of the frame to quantify the effect of soil-structure interaction on the response of the superstructure. In the parametric study using the substructure approach (uncoupled analysis), the effects of pile spacing, pile configuration, and pile diameter of the pile group on the response of superstructure are evaluated. The responses of the superstructure considered include the displacement at top of the frame and moments in the columns. The effect of soil-structure interaction is found to be quite significant for the type of foundation considered in the study. Fair agreement is observed between the results obtained herein using the simplified models for the pile foundation and those existing in the literature based on a complete three dimensional analysis of the building frame - pile foundation - soil system.

  • By M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy and x-ray measurement $(Fe_{0.95}Ni_{0.05})_7Se_8$ has been studied. The crystal structure of $(Fe_{0.95}Ni_{0.05})_7Se_8$ is found to be a triclinic superstructure of the NiAs sturcture while $Fe_7Se_8$ has a orthohexagonal superstructure. Abrupt changes of quadrupole shifts near 125 K for $(Fe_{0.95}Ni_{0.05})_7Se_8$ suggests that the spin-rotation transition proceeds abruptly, in contrast with the gradual transition reported for $Fe_7Se_8$ with a triclinic superstructure. Isomer shifts indicate a ferrous state for the iron ions at all four states.

  • IFC-based representation method of part library for superstructure module of modular steel bridge is proposed. The library is capable of efficiently offering and exchanging part information in process of manufacture, assembly, design, and construction of modular steel bridge. Entities, representing physical part information in IFC model, are matched semantically with parts of the superstructure module for representation of part information with IFC model. Either types of matched entities are applied in order to verify the role of each part, or new types are defined as a user-defined types. In addition, assembly system has been classified and defined into 4 levels of LoD(Level of Detail) to provide appropriate part information efficiently from the part library in each step of the process. Then, new property is defined for representing the LoD information with IFC Model. Finally, IFC-based test library of modular steel bridge is generated by applying the matched entities and entity types to the actual the superstructure module of modular steel bridge.

  • This study was performed to determine the failure strength and pattern of implant prosthesis luted with resin cement between gold cylinder and superstructure, and to evaluate the bonding strength of resin cement. To evaluate failure strength and pattern, the groups were divided into 2. Group 1 : Casted gold cylinder Group 2 : Luted with resin cement between gold cylinder ans superstructure. To evaluate effects of the bonding strength of the implant prosthesis luted with resin cement according to storage condition, the groups were divided into 3 : Group A : Stored in waste at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. Group B : 1000 cycles thermocycled between $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$ in water. Group C : Stored in water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 30 days. The results were as follows. 1. Failure was found at gold screw in all specimens of group 1 & 2. 2. The bond strength in group 1 and 2 was 189.86 and 188.14kgf. There was no statistically significant difference between group 1 and 2(P>0.05). 3. The bond strength of group A, B and C was 53.28, 45,86 and 39.29Kgf. There result suggest the advantage of an improved fit of superstructure to the abutment and a simple procedure. But there was a measurable decrease of the bond strength according to storage condition. So, Further research is necessary to evaluate of the implant prosthesis luted with resin cement between gold cylinder and superstructure.

  • Because the expenditure of LNG liquefaction processes are high in a LNG project, it is very important to find a suitable liquefaction process model and optimal operating conditions for a project. Various configurations of LNG liquefaction processes have been suggested, and therefore it takes a lot of time and manpower to compare all of these models in order to select an appropriate liquefaction process for a project. A superstructure model can include multiple options in one model and can contribute to decide the best configuration and operating conditions at the same time. This study developed a superstructure model including multiple process options for SMR (Single Mixed Refrigerant) liquefaction process and optimized it. The results showed that the optimization results of the superstructure model have similar values with optimization results of the separate SMR model.
