Studies have been carried out to determine the effect of sprinklers on fires typical of a number of occupancies including simulated of office furniture, supermarkets, carpet displays, libraries, video stores and liquor stores. After surveys of actual fire loads, the experiments were conducted in a specially designed sprinklered fire-calorimeter with a collecting hood 6 m x6 m leading to a vertical duct 1 m in diameter. Details of the rig are given elsewhere [1]. Only well ventilated fires were studied. Rate of heat release and production of various toxic chemicals were monitored during the tests. Both sprinklered and unsprinklered fires were used. The results were used to establish the unsprinklered burning behaviour and the fire-control effects of sprinklers. Before sprinkler operation, the rate of fire growth could be modelled as 12_fires as given in NFPA 92B (1991 Edition) [2]. It was found that operation of sprirnklers controlled but did not extinguish the fires. This was expected as parts of the fire load were shielded from the spray. Also there were significant increases in the concentration of carbon monoxide when the sprinklers operated. Sprinklers had little effect on the concentrations of other toxic products measured. The results from the tests were extrapolated to large single storey buildings for the same occupancy classes and the results used to compare the required and the available escape times for different occupancies, particularly whether the use of sprinklers would improve the chances of escape from those premises. It was found that in most of the cases studied, adequate escape times will be available without any special measures. For very rapid fire growths, however, special measures, such as availability of trained staff may be needed. Standard response sprinklers will have little impact.
This study is for finding out the relationship between reactions on POP per consumer purchase trends and major factor for making final purchasing decisions after being exposed to POP from large supermarkets. The following results were obtained after the research. First, consumers displayed higher reaction scores on End-Cap in general among POP advertisements. The factors for making final purchase decision are in the order of function > price > brand for household electrical goods, price > design > function for sundry goods and design > price > function for clothing (including bedding). Second, the results of analyzing the differences based on age on impulsive purchase showed that the lower the age the higher the tendency. Unplanned purchase trend also showed higher when younger. The results of this study showed that there are discrepancies in the theory related with existing POP advertisements, that is, the theory that impulsive purchasers have higher POP responses.
Purpose - The purpose of this study was to propose a win-win development plan for not only suppliers of delivery applications but also traditional market vendor companies and delivery riders by analyzing existing delivery models and presenting a new delivery model to enhance competitiveness of the traditional market using delivery apps. Research desgin, data, and methodology - Specifically, small retailers, such as traditional markets and supermarkets, presented a compromised delivery model that utilizes the platform of specialized delivery app service providers for order reception, and that the delivery is delivered by delivery systems jointly hired by Vendor companies, such as franchising companies. To validate the significance of the trade-off delivery model, a cost-benefit analysis was conducted by those involved in the delivery application. Results - From the perspective of suppliers of specialized delivery applications, it is analyzed that the use of specialized delivery applications in traditional markets will be a new market opportunity for service providers to achieve increased sales. It is expected that consumer choice and satisfaction will be increased as convenience and accessibility of traditional market businesses that were available only through direct visit from the user side of the delivery application will be expanded. From the standpoint of delivery application franchises, it is analyzed that they can seek to increase sales and increase customer service as well as ease labor cost burden due to joint employment of delivery riders. The delivery rider will be able to seek to improve customer service due to job security, wage stability, risk reduction and overheated competition due to direct employment. Conclusion - In conclusion, the compromised delivery model solved the problems raised in the preceding study conducted on delivery application suppliers, users, franchises, and riders to establish that it could be a strategic alternative to increasing sales and expanding detailed rights for the self-employed in the traditional market, which are experiencing difficulties in management. However, the adoption of a compromise delivery model requires social consensus from those involved in the delivery application and requires legal, institutional and policy support, which will require continued follow-up research on the delivery model in the future.
In general, the simple items we need to live in are purchased through retail stores such as supermarkets near our home. In the store, not only the items but also the management personnel and the payment instruments for the store management are located in one space called the store. Such a general store environment is gradually changing into an 'unmanned market' as a result of the development and fusion of information and communication technology (ICT). An unmanned market is an environment in which no one runs a market as the word has. An example of a typical change is Amazon's Unofficial Amazon Store. In addition, the usage and prospects of unmanned market in China are growing very meaningfully. In this study, the present situation of the unmanned market is examined in the US and China markets, and the development prospects are described. It also describes the key milestones necessary for the unmanned market.
The importance of logistics of warehouse stores has increased as their prices are cheaper and more convenient than those of large supermarkets. However, few studies on integrated depot location selection of warehouse stores have been conducted. In this regard, this study aims to derive factors for integrated depot location selection and calculate weights and select the location priority of target candidates by introducing an analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The analysis results exhibited that the most important selection factor was the cost reduction in transportation and delivery (0.198) followed by distance reduction in transportation and delivery (0.168), and time reduction in transportation. This study quantified the reduction in cost and increase in efficiency if depots were integrated and operated thereby presenting more realistic foundational data to hands-on workers. For the future study, the analysis model will be needed to be advanced through additional investigation on the factors in the analysis.
While one person household and nuclear family have been increasing, supermarkets began to launch home meal replacement(HMR) promotion. Each brand competes over various types of HMR such as box lunch. In particular, the sales of HMR have been increasing due to one-person households. Experts predicted HMR market will be increased in the future as well. This study presents design evaluation with regards to HMR package design for elders. The methods of this study are: First, research literature review on senior society and analyse the design for both domestic and foreign HMR products. Second, survey on product design for evaluation was conducted. Third, user's evaluation survey was conducted on elders. As a result, containers mostly came in cup or box shaped package designs. The package provided both still and illustration image of food. The HMR design for elders are recommended as follows: first, HMR should be service designed for users. Second, the design should be for elders as well. Third, the design should be empathetic and abundant. For user-interface, the packaging material shall not be slippery and the shape of grip should be considered thoroughly for the elder's design.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the consumption status and perception of soy meat among university students and to compare their sensory evaluations of commercial meatballs and soy meatballs. The subjects were students at a university who were grouped into those majoring in food and nutrition and those not majoring in the subject. The results of the two groups were compared. The main sources through which the students became aware of meat analogs were examined. The food and nutrition major students were about three times more likely to learn about meat analogs through 'education', and those not majoring in the subject were about four times more likely to learn about them from the social media (P<0.01). The most common reason for having tried soy meat was 'curiosity' and that for not eating it was 'no opportunity'. Without significant differences between groups, the most common answer for questions relating to the product that they had eaten was 'Ramen flakes' (30.5%) and the most common answer for the routes for eating the product was in the order of: 'restaurants' (36.6%)>school lunches (24.9%)>large and medium-sized supermarkets (22.8%). The most common answer to the question inviting suggestions on 'improvement points to promote the consumption of soy meat' was 'taste'(19.2%), followed by 'product promotion' and 'reasonable price'. About half of the subjects failed to differentiate the soy meatballs from regular meatballs before the sensory test and 21.3% after that. The difference in the sensory test scores of the two types of meatballs with respect to 'texture' was significantly higher for the major students than for the non-major students (P<0.05). These results could provide basic information that could enable the promotion of soy meat.

For the safety assessment of microbiological and chemical hazards in katsuobushi, fifteen samples of katsuobushi were purchased from supermarkets. The contamination levels of total viable bacteria, coliforms, Escherichia coli, and nine pathogenic bacteria [Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Bacillus cereus, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Clostridium perfringens, Enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC), Yersinia enterocolitica and Campylobacter jejuni/coli] were quantitatively or qualitatively assessed. Additionally, the heavy metals (total and methyl mercury) content, radioactivity (131 I, 134 Cs+ and 137 Cs) were quantitatively assessed. Microbial and chemical analyses were performed using standard methods in Korean food code. The contamination level of total viable bacteria was 2.70 (1.18-4.42) log CFU/g. Coliforms, E. coli and S. aureus were not detected in any samples. Other eight pathogenic bacteria were negative in all samples. The contamination levels of total and methyl mercury were 0.366 (0.227-0.481) and 0.120 (0.002-0.241) mg/kg, respectively. In addition, radioactivity was not detected in any samples. The results will be helpful in revitalizing domestic use and boosting exports of katsuobushi because the microbiological and chemical safety of katsuobushi has been assured. Furthermore, the results may be used as a basis for performing chemical and microbial risk assessments of katsuobushi.

Objectives: In this study, the safety of alcohol-based hand sanitizers (ABHSs) for quasi-drugs and cosmetics was investigated by analyzing the ethanol content, which is an active ingredient with a sterilizing effect, and methanol, which is toxic. Methods: Forty-one ABHSs were purchased at large supermarkets and online stores. Ethanol quantification was performed by gas chromatography-flame ionization detector, and methanol quantification was performed by headspace-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Results: The ethanol content of ABHS in quasi-drugs was 49.6-67.8%, which was suitable for standard manufacturing procedures for external disinfectants, and the ethanol content of ABHS in cosmetics was 9.1-61.3%. The methanol content of ABHS in quasi-drugs ranged from not detected(N.D.)-131.8 ppm, which was suitable for the methanol detection standard of ethanol raw materials in the Korean Pharmacopoeia. The methanol content of ABHS in cosmetics was 23.4-859.7 ppm, which was suitable for the detection limit of methanol in cosmetics. Conclusions: The ethanol and methanol content of ABHS was judged to be safe. When selecting an ABHS to be used for sterilization, it seems necessary to check the content of ethanol, an active ingredient, and use it according to its intended purpose.

People counting data is crucial for most business owners, since they can derive meaningful information about customers movement within their businesses. For example, owners of the supermarkets can increase or decrease the number of checkouts counters depending on number of occupants. Also, it has many applications in smart buildings, too. Where it can be used as a smart controller to control heating and cooling systems depending on a number of occupants in each room. There are advanced technologies like camera-based people counting system, which can give more accurate counting result. But they are expensive, hard to deploy and privacy invasive. In this paper, we propose a method and a hardware sensor for counting people passing through a passage or an entrance using IR Infrared sensors. Proposed sensor operates at low voltage, so low power consumption ensure long duration on batteries. Moreover, we propose a new method that distinguishes human body and other objects. Proposed method is inexpensive, easy to install and most importantly, it is real-time. The evaluation of our proposed method showed that when counting people passing one by one without overlapping, recall was 96% and when people carrying handbag like objects, the precision was 88%. Our proposed method outperforms IR Infrared based people counting systems in term of counting accuracy.
