A Study of Dark Photon at the Electron-Positron Collider Experiments Using KISTI-5 Supercomputer

  • The universe is well known to be consists of dark energy, dark matter and the standard model (SM) particles. The dark matter dominates the density of matter in the universe. The dark matter is thought to be linked with dark photon which are hypothetical hidden sector particles similar to photons in electromagnetism but potentially proposed as force carriers. Due to the extremely small cross-section of dark matter, a large amount of data is needed to be processed. Therefore, we need to optimize the central processing unit (CPU) time. In this work, using MadGraph5 as a simulation tool kit, we examined the CPU time, and cross-section of dark matter at the electron-positron collider considering three parameters including the center of mass energy, dark photon mass, and coupling constant. The signal process pertained to a dark photon, which couples only to heavy leptons. We only dealt with the case of dark photon decaying into two muons. We used the simplified model which covers dark matter particles and dark photon particles as well as the SM particles. To compare the CPU time of simulation, one or more cores of the KISTI-5 supercomputer of Nurion Knights Landing and Skylake and a local Linux machine were used. Our results can help optimize high-energy physics software through high-performance computing and enable the users to incorporate parallel processing.

  • Supercomputers are used for many different areas including new product design of industries as well as state-of-the-art science and technology for large amount of computational needs. Tachyon is a 4th supercomputer built at KISTI that is a high-performance parallel computing system with 3,200 computing nodes and infrastructures. This system is currently about 10,000 users and over 170 organizations are used, the number of jobs they are performing work in batch type form through a scheduler. Also, this system logs lots of job scripts, execution environment, library, job status from the job submit to end. In this paper, we analyzed batch jobs information from Sun Grid Engine, that use as a scheduler in Tachyon system, and job executed information in Tachyon System. In particular, we distinguished the fail jobs from the all tasks that users perform and we analyzed the cause of failure. Among them, we can extracted some of jobs that can be regarded as normal jobs through the improvement in those works logged as all of fail jobs.

  • 컴퓨팅 성능향상과 장비의 증가는 전력소비의 증가로 이어져 데이터센터 경영자에게 운영경비의 증가로 피할 수 없는 중요한 문제가 되었다. 그래서 미국의 데이터센터에서는 에너지 효율화 지수인 PUE(Power Usage Effectiveness)를 표준지수로 정하고 에너지소비를 관리하고 있다. 데이터센터에서 소비되는 에너지에서 IT부문과 비IT부문의 에너지 소비비율은 50:50 비율이다. IT장비는 처음 도입 시 에너지 효율적인 장비를 도입하면 컴퓨터 운영상에서 에너지를 절감할 기회는 많지가 않지만, 비IT부문은 설비운영적인 측면으로 안정성을 고려하면서 동시에 효율적인 운영환경을 유지하는 것이 가능하다. 본 문서에서는 비IT부문에서 전산실 장비의 열복도-냉복도 분리 배치가 에너지 절감효과가 어느 정도인지 실험을 하였으며, 그 실험결과를 기술하였다.

  • A vector algorithm for calculating the stiffness matrices of reinforced concrete shell elements is presented. The algorithm is based on establishing vector lengths equal to the number of elements. The computational efficiency of the proposed algorithm is assessed on a Cray Y-MP supercomputer. It is shown that the vector algorithm achieves scalar-to-vector speedup of 1.7 to 7.6 on three inelastic problems.

  • As IT(Information Technology) has been developing, an application engineering is advanced so quickly. Especially, CFD field that is influenced greatly by Computing Power is an outstanding example. In this paper, it says a research tendency of the KISTI Supercomputing Center that performs the CFD research based on IT. The representative researches are the National Grid Project, TeraCluster Construction and development and a supporting plan for Supercomputer users' parallelization.

  • Internet of Things(IoT), which is developing for the hyper connection society, is based on OSHW (Open Source Hardware) such as Arduino and various small products are emerging. Because of the limitation of low performance and low memory, the IoT is causing serious information security problem that it is difficult to apply strong security technology. In this paper, we analyze the vulnerability that can occur as a result of compiling and loading the application program of Arduino on the host computer. And we propose a new attack method that allows an attacker to arbitrarily change the value input from the sensor of the arduino board. Such as a proposed attack method may cause the arduino board to misinterpret environmental information and render it inoperable. By understanding these attack techniques, it is possible to consider how to build a secure development environment and cope with these attacks.

  • 한국과학기술정보연구원(KISTI)은 2019년 1월 슈퍼컴퓨터 5호기 Nurion의 공식서비스를 시작하였다. Nurion은 8,432개의 계산노드를 장착한 초거대 컴퓨팅 시스템으로 안정적인 운영을 위해 많은 인력을 필요로 하는 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 Nurion에서 사용 중인 PBS 작업 스케줄러의 Hook 기능을 이용하여 계산노드의 장애를 자동으로 점검하는 기능을 구현하여 운영 효율을 향상시키는 기법에 대해서 소개한다.

  • 멀티 코어 또는 매니 코어 기반의 HPC 시스템 보급이 늘어나면서 HPC 어플리케이션이 사용하는 프로세스의 수 또한 증가하고 있다. 이런 경우, 기존의 IO 방식이 아닌 병렬 IO 의 사용을 고려하여야 하는데 그 중 특히 집합 IO 는 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 본 연구에서는 IBM Power 595 기반 슈퍼 컴퓨터에서 집합 IO 특성을 알아 본다.

  • 슈퍼컴퓨터 5호기 누리온은 8,437대의 계산노드와 33.88PB 규모의 병렬스토리지가 100Gbps의 Omni-Path(OPA) 인터커넥트로 연결되어 있는 초대형 클러스터 시스템이다. 누리온의 계산자원은 PBS 작업스케줄러를 통해 관리되고 있고 병렬 스토리지는 DDN사의 Exascaler Monitoring System(ESMON)을 통해 influxDB에 read/write IO 통계 데이터를 수집하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 PBS의 과금 데이터와 ESMON influxDB의 IO 통계 데이터를 활용하여 사용자의 작업별 IO 통계 정보를 생성하는 방안에 대하여 소개한다.

  • The last decades have witnessed an increasingly indispensible role of high performance computing (HPC) in science, business and financial sectors, as well as military and national security areas. To introduce key aspects of HPC to a broader community, an HPC session was organized for the first time ever for the United States and Korea Conference (UKC) during 2012. This paper summarizes four invited talks that each covers scientific HPC applications, large-scale parallel file systems, administration/maintenance of supercomputers, and green technology towards building power efficient supercomputers of the next generation.
