  • Face Recognition assumes much significance in the context of security based application. Normally, high resolution images offer more details about the image and recognizing a face from a reasonably high resolution image would be easier when compared to recognizing images from very low resolution images. This paper addresses the problem of recognizing faces from a very low resolution image whose size is as low as $8{\times}8$. With the use of CCTV(Closed Circuit Television) and with other surveillance camera-based application for security purposes, the need to overcome the shortcomings with very low resolution images has been on the rise. The present day face recognition algorithms could not provide adequate performance when employed to recognize images from VLR images. Existing methods use super-resolution (SR) methods and Relation Based Super Resolution methods to construct from very low resolution images. This paper uses a learning based super resolution method to extract and construct images from very low resolution images. Experimental results show that the proposed SR algorithm based on relationship learning outperforms the existing algorithms in public face databases.

  • Based on a 405m high super-tall building, the influence of outriggers, different shapes and layouts of structural plane and elevation on structural efficiency under lateral forces is studied in this paper. A calculation formula concerning the structural efficiency is given. The study shows that structural efficiency can be improved by triangulating the plane shape, using mega columns, the peripherization of the plane layout, tapering the elevation shape and setting bracing structure in the elevation. The arrangement of outriggers between the core tube and flange frame can reduce the shear lag effect in order to improve structural efficiency. The essence of improving structural efficiency of super-tall buildings is to maximize the plane bending stiffness and to make its deformation approach to plane section assumption.

  • Constructing large-scale mat foundation mass concrete is increasing for the stability of building structure, because a lot of high rise building are being built in order to make full use of limited space. However, It is of increasing concerns that because limited placing equipments, available job-site and systems for mass concete placement in construction field do not allow to place great quantity of concrete at the same time in large scale mat foundation, consistency between placement lift can not be secured. And also, it is likely to crack due to stress caused by the difference of hydration heat generation time. To find out the solution against above problems, this study is to reconfirm the performance of normal concrete designed by mix proportion and super retarding concrete. The Fundamental test shows what happens if low heat proportioning and control method of setting time are applied at the job-site of newly constructed high rise building. The test result show that slump flow of concrete has been somewhat increased as the target retarding time gets longer, while the air content has been slightly decreased but this is no great difference from normal concrete. The setting time shows to be retarded as target retarding time gets longer, the range of retarding time increases. It is necessary to increase the amount of mix of super retarding agent in the proportion ration by setting curing temperature high since outdoor curing is about 6 hours faster than standard curing, which means the temperature of the concrete will be higher than the temperature of the surrounding environment, due to its high hydration heat when applying in a construction site. The compressive strength of super retarding concrete appears to be lower than normal concrete due to the retarding action in the early stage. However, as the time goes by, the compressive strength gets higher, and by the 28th day the strength becomes the same or higher than normal concrete.

  • In recent years there has been considerable interest in the construction of super high-rise buildings. From the prior art, various procedures and devices for surveys during and after the phase of erection of a high-rise building are known. High-rise buildings are subject to strong external tilt effects caused, for instance, by wind pressures, unilateral thermal effects by exposure to sunlight, and unilateral loads. Such effects are a particular challenge in the phase of construction of a high-rise building, in as much as the high-rise building under construction is also subject to tilt effects, and will at least temporarily lose its - as a rule exactly vertical - alignment. Yet construction should progress in such a way that the building is aligned as planned, and particularly so in the vertical, when returning into an un-tilted basic state. It is essential that a straight element be constructed that theoretically, even when moving around its design centre point due to varying loads, would have an exactly vertical alignment when all biasing conditions are neutralised. Because of differential raft settlement, differential concrete shortening, and construction tolerances, this ideal situation will rarely be achieved. This paper describes a procedure developed by the authors using GPS observations combined with a network of precision inclination sensor to provide reliable coordinated points at the top of the worldwide highest-rise building under construction in Dubai.

  • The ventilation system for the efficient operation of the building services systems in the ventilation plan of super high-rise buildings is used to combine smoke control systems. This study evaluated models of super high-rise buildings with four basement levels and 59 stories and investigated the pressure distribution of each floor by the smoke driving forces by numerical analysis. The smoke driving forces on the building of analytical model was analyzed to determine the effects of the ventilation plan and smoke control plane. In addition, when a combination with ventilation and smoke control of the kitchen ventilation damper in the ventilation plan of analysis model building was designed based on the these results, the relationship between the opening and closing force of the damper and smoke driving combined forces to act on the design pressure of the damper by a motion analysis simulation. The driving units of the damper were selected from the analytical results.

  • The Performance-based fire protection design required to construct super high-rise building is the active measure for the evaluation of fire risks and the establishment of fire protection systems on the basis of engineering analysis, which is more efficient and proper than existing prescriptive-based design. This study applied time-line analysis of RSET is required safe egress time and ASET is available safe egress time with the fire and evacuation simulation to analyze. The result of this study showed the sprinkler system increased ASET and fire detection and alarm system reduced RSET efficiently. Reduced evacuation time influences to secure the life safety. Also it is essential to maintain the fire suppression system and fire detection & alarm system properly. Database of fire movement and evacuation action program are useful for the performance-based design.

  • The ASHRAE Technical Committee for Tall Buildings, TC 9.12, has defined a tall building as one whose height is greater than 300 feet (91m). Since the publication of the HVAC Design Guide for Tall Commercial Buildings in 2004, there were only about 300 buildings taller than 200 meters; this number has risen to 600 in 2010 and the prediction 765 buildings taller than 200 meters in 2012. There has also been an introduction of two new classes of tall buildings: ${\bullet}$ Mega tall, which are buildings taller than 300 m, and ${\bullet}$ Super tall, which are buildings taller than 600 m. The effect of ambient air temperature over the height of buildings, especially Mega tall and Super tall buildings. The ambient climatic conditions vary with altitude and these changes in ambient conditions can seriously affect load calculations and performance of super and mega tall buildings. This paper presents revised calculations for stack effect for Tall, Mega Tall and Super tall Buildings.

  • Recently, urban structures including buildings are becoming increasingly large and super high-rise in order to make human life more convenient. As the number of super high-rise buildings increases, however, the risk of fire and other disasters is increasing. Especially, it is expected that deaths and injuries will be tremendous than imagined if the evacuation guidance is not provided promptly and precisely for the occupants in case of a fire in super high-rise buildings. Therefore, rapid rescue should be done for those who are in need of residence or rescue in the building. To do this, identification of the size and location of people inside the building should be preceded. To do this, first, we conduct a preliminary study on existing location tracking technologies to identify occupants. Based on this, in this paper, we will study how to improve evacuation time in case of a fire in super high-rise buildings. For this purpose, we utilize the location tracking technology to identify the number of people in real time and improve the density when a disaster such as a fire occurs.

  • Cost, schedule, quality are the essential parts of success of every construction project. It is especially true in high-rise building construction. Among the construction components in high-rise building construction, curtain walls are very important elements for the project success because they take large portion of cost and schedule. However, curtain wall construction process are very complicated, where many entities including designers, suppliers, contractors and even maintenance contractors are involved. Therefore, control and management of their relationships and production process are critical. It is suggested that this can be solved by the concept of Supply Chain Management which is supported by the automated information technology with Radio Frequency Identification. Such concept is defined as 'Automated Life-Cycle Management System Based On SCM' and this study suggests rode map to establish the system.
