At Kyoto University, a continuous solar full-disk observation in CaII K line had been done during 44 years of 1926 - 1969. The observation was done with a Askania spectroheliograph on daily base. The images were taken on photographic plates. We started a project to archive these image data into a digital database which will be open to the public for scientific researches. One of the scientific usage of the database is to study the long term variation of the solar chromospheres. Since the area of CaII K plage area is a measure of solar chromospheric heating, we can do comparative study of the sunspot cycle and the chromospheric heating cycle of the sun. Another interesting field of scientific utilization of the database is the long term variation of the heating of terrestrial upper atmosphere. As was shown by Yokoyama, Masuda and Sato (2005), the area of the CaII K plage is a good proxy measure of solar EUV irradiation onto the upper atmosphere of the earth. Thus the completion of our database will serve to supply a basic and long-span data for upper atmospheric heating issues by the cooperative study with the Inter-university Upper atmosphere Global Observation NETwork (IUGONET) developed in Japan.
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to analyze franchise coffee shop service quality factors based on pilot research. In the proposed analysis, store atmosphere is added as one of the service quality factors. We aim to examine how franchise coffee shop service quality and store atmosphere influence customer satisfaction and loyalty. Research design, data, and methodology - Data was collected from 482 Korean coffee shop franchises and analyzed using frequency analysis, reliability/validity assessments, correlation analysis, and regression analysis with the software program SPSS 19.0. Results - The results are as follows. First, taste is revealed to be the most influential factor among components that have an impact on service quality. Second, taste also turned out to have the most impact on service quality among components influencing customer loyalty. Last, customer satisfaction affected customer loyalty. Conclusions - This study's findings show that taste was the most influential factor on service quality. The conclusion here is that most of the coffee shop customers are very familiar with coffee taste and this is influencing their loyalty.

It has been a big mystery what drives filament eruptions and flares. We have studied in detail an X1.8 flare and its associated filament eruption that occurred in NOAA Active Region 9236 on November 24,2000. For this work we have analyzed high temporal (about 1 minute) and spatial (about 1 arcsec) resolution images taken by Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) onboard the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, Hoc centerline and blue wing ($-0.6{\AA}$) images from Big Bear Solar Observatory, and 1600 ${\AA}$ UV images by the Transition Region and Corona Explorer (TRACE). We have found that there were several transient brightenings seen in H$\alpha$ and, more noticeably in TRACE 1600 ${\AA}$ images around the preflare phase. A closer look at the UV brightenings in 1600 ${\AA}$ images reveals that they took place near one end of the erupting filament, and are a kind of jets supplying mass into the transient loops seen in 1600 ${\AA}$. These brightenings were also associated with canceling magnetic features (CMFs) as seen in the MDI magnetograms. The flux variations of these CMFs suggest that the flux cancellation may have been driven by the emergence of the new flux. For this event, we have estimated the ejection speeds of the filament ranging from 10 to 160 km $s^{-1}$ for the first twenty minutes. It is noted that the initiation of the filament eruption (as defined by the rise speed less than 20 km $s^{-1}$) coincided with the preflare activity characterized by UV brightenings and CMFs. The speed of the associated LASCO CME can be well extrapolated from the observed filament speed and its direction is consistent with those of the disturbed UV loops associated with the preflare activity. Supposing the H$\alpha$/UV transient brightenings and the canceling magnetic features are due to magnetic reconnect ion in the low atmosphere, our results may be strong observational evidence supporting that the initiation of the filament eruption and the preflare phase of the associated flare may be physically related to low-atmosphere magnetic reconnection.
The present study performed subjective evaluation experiments using slides and scale down models in order to propose guidelines for lighting environment desirable for each behavior in the house. The evaluation measure was composed of 20 mood items and 15 behavior items. As for experiment methods, the slide experiment used SD method, and the scale down model experiment used Scheffe's paired comparison. The results of this study are as follows. 1) Desirable lighting environment for working and talking is active atmosphere. 2) Lighting environment desirable far relaxation is to heighten lighting contrast using candescent lamps and local lights. In other words, active atmosphere, which is desirable for working and talking, is not desirable for relaxation. 3) Lighting for working requires bright illuminance and high color temperature(6000k). 4) Lighting for relaxation requires somewhat low brightness regardless of color temperature. If the light is bright it is better to use lamps of low color temperature. 5) for conversation, bright illuminance is more desirable than dark one, and the most adequate color temperature is 4000K.
The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in clothing selection criteria and store selection criteria between each consumer groups by the preference for fast fashion. The data was collected from a questionnaire conducted on 317 female adults. The results were as follows. First, the factor analysis used to identify clothing selection criteria involved the following four factors: fashion, quality/practicality, status symbol, and economics. The consumer group preferring fast-fashion regarded fashion and economics as important factors and the non-preferring group regarded status symbol factor more. Second, five factors(atmosphere, product service/salesperson, shopping convenience, promotion/facilities) of store selection criteria were constructed by factor analysis, The consumer group preferring fast-fashion regarded atmosphere and product as important factors and the non-preferring group considered service/salesperson and promotion/facilities factors more. Third, the consumers who were of low age, low education, low income and unmarried preferred fast fashion brand.
Purpose: This study was performed to compare sintering conditions for fabrication of porous Ti implant. Methods: The porous Ti implant samples were fabricated by sintering of spherical Ti powders in vacuum and atmosphere conditions. Surface morphology, composition and phase were analyzed by FE-SEM, EDX and XRD. Results: Sintered Ti implant in the vacuum consisted of particles connected in three dimensions by clear necking without excessive oxide layers. However, sintered Ti implant in atmosphere was formed excessive oxide layers with non-stoichiometric compounds. Conclusion: The porous Ti implant can be sintered in vacuum condition preferably.
Optical emission studies were performed to investigate thermal and dynamical properties of a plume produced by laser ablation of a graphite target in a nitrogen atmosphere. Experimental spectra of $C_2(d^3{\Pi}_g{\to}a^3{\Pi}_u$, ${\Delta}_V$=1) and CN ($B^2{\Sigma}^+{\to}X^2{\Sigma}^+,{\Delta}_V=0)$ were simulated to obtain the vibrational and rotational temperatures of the electronically excited species at various laser fluences and distances from the target. The spectroscopic temperatures of both molecules were found to be nearly independent of the laser fluence. The temperature of CN molecules was peaked in the middle of the plume while that of $C_2$decreased with increase in the distance. At a given distance, the temperature of CN molecules was clearly higher than that of $C_2$.
The Cassini/Visual Infrared Mapping Spectrometer (VIMS) observed the sun through the atmosphere of Titan, and provided vertically-resolved 63 spectra from 49 km to 987 km for the 1 - 5 micron range (Bellucci, 2008). Bellucci et al. (2009) analyzed selected spectral ranges where the band absorptions of $CH_4$ and CO are strong by constructing synthetic spectra including $CH_4$ and CO lines, but without including haze absorptions in their synthetic spectra. Kim et al. (2011) and Sim et al. (2013) were able to extract detailed spectral features of fundamental (Dv = 1) and overtone (Dv = 2) bands of the haze from the VIMS spectra by excluding the adjacent influences of strong $CH_4$ absorptions using a radiative transfer program, which includes effects of absorption and emission of lines of these molecules, and absorption and scattering of haze particles. In this presentation, we extend our detailed analyses to other remaining wavelengths in order to provide the spectral characteristics of the Titanian haze for the entire 1 - 5 micron range and to identify any additional haze spectral features and an unidentified feature near 4.3 microns reported by Bellucci et al. (2009).
To estimate free magnetic energy stored in an active region is a key to the quantitative prediction of activity observed on the Sun. This energy is defined as an excess over the potential energy that is the lowest energy taken by a magnetic structure formed in the solar atmosphere including the solar corona. It is, however still difficult to derive the configuration of a coronal magnetic field only by observations, so we have to use some observable quantity to estimate free magnetic energy. Recently, by performing a coordinated series of three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations of an emerging flux tube that transfers intense magnetic flux to the solar atmosphere we have found an universal power-law relation between free magnetic energy and emerged magnetic flux, the latter of which is a possibly observed quantity. We further investigate what causes this relation through a comparison with a model of linear force-free field.
By adopting a time-resolved optical emission spectrometry, we have investigated the effects of transverse magnetic field on C2 and CN molecules produced by laser ablation of a graphite target in nitrogen atmosphere. We found that the spectroscopic temperatures of both species, obtained via simulation of the optical emission spectra, as well as their emission intensities from the electronically excited states increased significantly in the presence of a magnetic field. The cyclotron radii and frequencies for electrons and ions were estimated to explain the increase in the number of collisions in the laser-produced carbon plasma plume under a magnetic field.
