In this paper, we have analyzed the BER (Bit Error Rate) performance of multi-user detectors employing SIC(Successive Interference Cancellation) and PIC (Parallel Interference Cancellation) which are the representative schemes in the subtractive interference cancellation. We have considered the MUD structure employing HIC (Hybrid Interference Cancellation) which combines SIC with PIC scheme, and then analyzed the BER performance. We have evaluated the BER performance of SIC and HIC schemes which execute the soft decision to generate the tentative data bit for the purpose of the interference cancellation in MAI and noise environments. Through the numerical analysis and computer simulation, it is shown that HIC can remove the effect of MAI more efficiently than the others, that improve the BER performance and increase the capacity of DS-CDMA systems regardless of the power control conditions. The reason is that the SIC scheme in front of HIC can solve the near-far problem caused by the imperfect power control and PIC scheme in the rear of it can improve the performance much more.

This paper proposes an algorithm for transmit antenna selection in a multi-input multi-output(MIMO) spatial multiplexing system with per antenna rate control(PARC) and an ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) receiver. The active antenna subset is determined at the receiver and conveyed to the transmitter using feedback information on transmission rate per antenna. We propose a serial decision procedure consisting of a successive process that tests whether antenna selection gain exists when the antenna with the lowest pre-processing signal to interference and noise ratio(SINR) is discarded at each stage. Furthermore, we show that 'reverse detection ordering', whereby the signal with the lowest SINR is decoded at each stage of successive decoding, widens the disparities among fractions of the whole capacity allocated to each individual antenna and thus maximizes a gain of antenna selection. Numerical results show that the proposed reverse detection ordering based serial antenna selection approaches the closed-loop MIMO capacity and that it induces a negligible capacity loss compared with the heuristic selection strategy even with considerably reduced complexity.

Random unitary beamforming (RUB) is a very low complexity and practical transmission scheme for multiuser MIMO broadcast channel. In this paper, we propose the scheme that obtains the spatial multiplexing gain on the extension of the conventional RUB, that is, the receiver with two antennas is compared to that with one antenna in a conventional RUB, which results in the increased capacity. So, we propose the new codebook and the minimum mean square error successive interference cancellation (MMSE-SIC) receiver filter. We show the simulation result that the sum-rate of proposed system is increased.

The conventional code division multiple access(CDMA) detector shows severe degradation in communication quality as the number of users increases due to multiple access interferences(MAI). This problem thus restricts the user capacity. Various multiuser detection algorithms have been proposed to overcome the MAI problem. The existing detectors can be generally classified into one of the two categories : linear multiuser detection and subtractive interference cancellation detectors. In the linear multiuser detection, a linear transform is applied to the soft outputs of the conventional detector. In the subtractive interference cancellation detection, estimates of the interference are generated and subtracted out from the received signal. There has been great interest in the family of the subtractive interference cancellation detection because the linear multiuser detection exhibits the disadvantage of taking matrix inversion operations. The successive interference cancellation (SIC) and the parallel interference cancellation (PIC) are the two most popular structures in the subtractive interference cancellation detector. The SIC structure is very simple in hardware complexity, but has the disadvantage of increased processing delay time, while the PIC structure is good in performance, but shows the disadvantage of increased hardware complexity. In this paper we propose a mixed structure form of SIC and PIC in order to achieve good performance as well as simple hardware complexity. A performance analysis of the proposed scheme has been made, and the superior characteristics of the mixed structure are demonstrated by extensive computer simulations.

Successive interference cancellation (SIC) is an effective means of multi-packet reception to combat interference at the physical layer. We investigate the joint optimization issue of channel access and power control for capacity maximization in SIC-enabled wireless networks. We propose a new interference model to characterize the sequential detection nature of SIC. Afterward, we formulize the joint optimization problem, prove it to be a nondeterministic polynomial-time-hard problem, and propose a novel approximation approach based on the genetic algorithm (GA). Finally, we discuss the design and parameter setting of the GA approach and validate its performance through extensive simulations.
This paper analyzed GNSS signal acquisition performance of a regional navigation receiver when an interference cancellation capability is applied. Intereference between the regional navigation and GNSS signal can be mitigated by the interference cancellation technique such as the successive interference cancellation (SIC) algorithm. However signal acquisition performance will be degraded when jamming-to-signal ratio (J/S) is large due to a cross-correlation properties of residual signals. In this paper we analyzed signal acquisition performance degradation due to the interference between the Kasami and GNSS Gold code signal. Monte Carlo simulation is used for the analysis and compared results with those of GNSS Gold code only condition.

The transmitted signal from a source is transmitted to a destination through wireless channels. But if the mobile destination is out of the coverage of the source or exists in the shady side of the coverage, the destination can not receiver the signal from the source and they can not maintain communication. In order to overcome these problems, we adopt relays. A system employing relays is a multi-hop relay system. In the multi-hop relay system, coverages of each relay that is used for different systems can overlap each other in some place. When there is a destination in this place, interference occurs at the destination. In this paper, we study on the efficient co-channel interference (CCI) cancellation algorithm. In the proposed strategy, CCI is mitigated by zero forcing (ZF) or minimum mean square error (MMSE) receivers. Moreover, successive interference cancellation (SIC) with optimal ordering algorithm is applied for rejecting CCI efficiently. And we analyzed and simulated the proposed system performance in Rayleigh fading channel. In order to justify the benefit of the proposed strategy, the overall system performance is illustrated in terms of bit error probability.

Cellular Network assisted device-to-device (D2D) communication has been growing to reduce the overload of eNodeB and mitigate the frequency shortage. However, by sharing the uplink frequency resource with the cellular network, the interference between cellular and D2D is increased. In this paper, we propose an advanced receiver for full suppression cancellation (FSC) to reduce the interference between cellular and D2D. The proposed receiver can suppress and cancel the interference by integrating the interference rejection combining (IRC) technique with successive interference cancellation (SIC). We perform a system level simulation based on the 20-MHz bandwidth of the 3GPP LTE-A system. Simulation results show that the proposed receiver can improve SINR, throughput and spectral efficiency compared to conventional receivers.
In this paper, we propose and simulate an efficient interference cancellation scheme with an optimal ordering successive interference cancellation (SIC) algorithm for ultra wideband (UWB)/multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) systems in a wireless body area network (WBAN). When there are several wireless communication devices on a human body, multiple access interference (MAI) usually occurs. To mitigate the effect of MAI and achieve additional diversity gain, we utilize SIC with an optimal ordering algorithm. A zero correlation duration (ZCD) code with robust MAI capability is employed as a spread code for UWB systems in a multi-device WBAN environment. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated in terms of the bit error rate (BER). Simulation results confirm that the BER performance can be improved significantly if the proposed interference cancellation scheme and the ZCD code are jointly employed.

This paper drives the exact expression of bit error rate(BER) performance for groupwise iterative-multipath interference cancellation(GWI-MPIC) algorithm for cancelling multipath interference components in a coherent high-speed downlink packet access(HSDPA) system of W-CDMA downlink and the BER performance is evaluated by numerical analysis. The performance of GWI-MPIC is compared to the successive interference cancellation(SIC) algorithm for multipath components. From numerical results, the optimal average BER performance of weighting factor ${\beta}$$\_$h/ for interference cancellation is obtained at ‘${\beta}$$\_$h/=0.8’ and then this weighting factor is hereafter applied to other performance analysis. Numerical results showed that the average BER performance of GWI-MPIC algorithm is rapidly degraded at multipath L=6, but is revealed the good performance than that of SIC algorithm in terms of increasing the number of multipath. This results also indicated that the average BER performance is greatly degraded due to increasing interference power more than multicode K=8. The average BER performance of the proposed algorithm is superior to the performance of SIC algorithm about 3 ㏈ for processing gain PG=128 at multipath L=2 and Average BER=1.0${\times}$10$\^$-5/. And also, the results produced good performance in case of linear monotonic reduction of multipath fading channel gain than that of constant channel gain variation, because multipath fading channel gain which is arrived later is small.
