The subjects were 284 first-year middle-school students with a single parent who were included in the first year of the Korean Children and Youth Research Panel 2010 data. The data were statistically processed using SPSS 18.0software. The results were as follows. First, the research participants' adaptation to school life, self-esteem, self-resilience, and peer relations were all shown to have an average of higher than 2 on a 4-point scale. Positive perceptions of parenting attitudes were 2.87, and negative perceptions 2.38. Computer usage was high, scoring 2.42, but mobile phone usage was average, at 2.02. Of the participants, 83.8% did not participate in a club or extracurricular activity. Second, self-esteem, self-resilience, peer relations, and positive parenting attitudes were correlated positively with adaptation to school life, but relying on a mobile phone was correlated negatively. Third, regarding the consequences of the relative effectiveness of the variables for adaptation to school life, as self-esteem, self-elasticity, and positive perceptions of parenting attitudes increased, Adaptation of a single parent's child to school life was more successful. Additionally, as annual family income and reliance on mobile phones increased, students' adaptation to school was less successful.

  • This qualitative case study focuses on five small and medium-sized enterprises which have put family-friendly management into successful practice. Through in-depth unstructured interviews with five human resources managers and ten employees, we describe each firm's approach to work-life balance including working hour reductions, breaks, work flexibility, and parental leave to build an overall picture. We also discuss the four key factors of the CEO's role; democratic communication between all staff, the usefulness of family-friendly certification as a starting point; and governmental support for promoting work-life balance at small and medium-sized enterprises. Finally, we suggest three political implications of governmental support, namely CEO education, changing the criteria of family-friendly certification to redefine working hours and work flexibility, and incentives specifically for small to medium-sized enterprises.

With this premise, FLE tries to wupport the healthy mrital relations. subsequently helping to explore the family potentiality and to strengthen family ties. The objects of the FLE program are unmarried, pre-marred , and married persons. • Selective Optimization with Compensation (SOC), a concept defined by Baltes and Baltes, is known to predict successful aging. This study was conducted to find out which factors affect Korean elderly people SOC The data for this study were obtained from a survey conducted between March and May 2001, on a sample of middle-class male and female participants over 60 years old. Two hundred and fifty four completed questionnaires were used for final analyses. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearson correlations, multiple regressions, multiple response frequencies and sequential threshold methods were used to analyze the data. In order to measure successful aging, the Selective Optimization with Compensation Scale developed by Baltes, Baltes, Freud, and Lang (1996) was used. The SOC scale consists of four subscales, Elective Selection, Loss-based Selection, Optimization, and Compensation. The major findings are summarized in the following. First, the level of SOC by various socio-demographic variables was examined. It tuned out that health status is the most important variable in predicting SOC. Also important was satisfaction with family life. Second, significant correlations were found between SOC and duration of the marriage (negative), practicing a religion, health, and economic stability (all positive). Third, religion and health status affected SOC, but health was a stronger predictor Those who practiced a religion and were healthy had a higher score in SOC as a whole. Fourth, the participants were divided into three groups by their SOC score, and their idea.; of successful aging were compared. The top- and middle-score groups considered satisfaction with family life to be more important, whereas the bottom-score group regarded the social status as more important.

Through this it make to explain relationship between values and planning exactly and partially to test empirically system model to home management 650 housewives were adapted as data. Cluster analysis \chi$2 and ANOVA were used as statistical analysis. The resultes are summarized as follows 1) Goal-centered planning level was higher than that of resource-centered By 2 plannings subjects were classified into 4 planning styles : active morphogenic resource-reorganized demand-reorganized passive morphostatic style. 2) A difference between terminal value patterns and planning styles was no significant but a difference between instrumental value patterns and planning styles was significant. Family life satisfaction showed significant differences by not value patterns but planning styles. Because of high family life satisfaction as output of management active morphogenic style was successful. For succ ssful planning, it was suggested that homemarkers should possess values related broadminded loving and forgiving.

The target population of this study was 1,385 who is older than 65. As data analysis, hierarchical multiple regression was used. The variables such as demographics, avoiding diseases and disability, high cognitive and physical function and engagement with life, relationship with adult children were entered hierarchically for the regression analysis. Since there are differences of longevity by gender, the difference of factors of successful aging were compared by marital status. In this study (besides Rowe and Kahn's successful aging model such as avoiding disease and disability, high cognitive and physical function, and engagement with life), the relationships with adult children were analyzed additionally. The first issue was about the differences in the level of use among eight coping strategies according to the type of stressful life events. The second issue dealt with the differences between those who achieved successful outcomes and those who did not in the use of coping strategies. The third issue was if the different use of coping strategies was related to the level of life satisfaction and depression. Stressful life events were divided into problems of four areas such as health, finance, family relations including well-being of family members, and work Coping was assessed by eight factors. The survey data collected from 221 community residing adults was used for analyses. Findings suggested that the level of the use of escape-avoidance was very low while the level of the use of planful problem solving, seeking positive meaning, self control, and accepting responsibility was high for all stressful life events. It was also found that in some stressful life events those who achieved successful outcomes used more planful problem solving, more seeking positive meaning and less escape-avoidance than those who did not achieve successful outcomes. Finally, for almost all of the stressful life events, the use of more planful problem solving was related to either higher level of life-satisfaction or lower level of depression while the use of more escape-avoidance was related to lower level of life-satisfaction and higher level of depression. According to the results, implication for social work intervention was discussed.
