A Study on Adoption and Policy Direction of Blockchain Technology in Financial Industry (금융분야의 블록체인기술 활용과 정책방향에 관한 연구)

  • The financial industry recently introduces several issues for utilizing the blockchain technology as the core infrastructure of future finance. Blockchain, first introduced as the underlying technology of Crypto-currencies, Bitcoin is a technology that can ensure the integrity and reliability of data by verifying, recording, and storing data jointly in the network without a central administration organization or a manager. This blockchain has its potential power as a technology for issuing digital currencies, providing transparency, and securing record management, that is expected to be useful in the financial sector. At the same time, considering the characteristics of financial transactions which emphasize privacy, questions are raised about whether a blockchain structure in which information is distributed and shared among participants can be successful. How will we support to implement the potential of the blockchain in order to change the paradigm of the financial industry? How can we manage the side effects of blockchain effectively? Such a policy discussion is necessary. This study introduces the meaning of the blockchain technology, various utilization attempts, and possible problems facing technology from the viewpoint of financial industry, and suggests a policy direction for utilizing this technology as a catalyst to the progress of the financial industry or as a new technology power.

  • Red spotted grouper, Epinephelus akaara, is a popular aquaculture species and a protogynous hermaphrodite. Induction of artificial sex change at the time of primary sex differentiation is of interest but has not been successful due to the lack of necessary basic information. To find out the potential neuroendocrine influence on the primary sex differentiation, the expression of key genes in the brain was investigated during the formation of ovarian cavity. Expression of cyp19a1b, esr1, gnrhr1, fsh, lh and cga in the brain was positively associated with the formation of ovarian cavity, showing gradual increase as the formation proceeds. However, the expression of gnrh1 was suppressed during the early part of the ovarian cavity formation, signifying potential hypothalamic influence on the primary sex differentiation in this species.

  • This study focuses on the phenomenon that K-POP has become spotlight as killer contents which can be spread over the world beyond Asia. In order to identify critical factors of successful impact of K-POP on other cultures, the influence of the change in media on the globalization of popular culture was explored and the related requirements were analyzed. Furthermore, the potential markers for K-POP, a core field of the Korean Wave, were also analyzed and specific factors such as effective infrastructure of among producer of contents, platform subscriber, network provider, terminal enterprise and retailers for building new businesses model were investigated in detail.

  • The objective of this study is to interpret that at international business management, overseas marketing research is very important to enter the new market as well as competitive market in the wold. There are many distinct components of the environment which can affect the exporting company, so the exporting company must to find the opportunities and threats in foreign market after it researches the firms export potential for successful or survival themselves. Often the export marketing research is a more difficult and complex task than the domestic marketing research. As international marketing activities for exporting company, an investigator has to get abilities for understanding regional culture and to analyze the data for investigation and findings as skeptical mind.

Evaluation of the Function exp$(x^2)$ erfc(x) to Higher Precisions for Higher Order Derivative Polarography of CE-type Electrode Process

  • The function exp$(x^2)$erfc(x), which is often encountered in studies of electrode kinetics, is evaluated to an extended precision with 32 significant decimal digits in order to find theoretical relationships used in derivative polarography/voltammetry for a chemically-coupled electrode process. Computations with a lower precision are not successful. Evaluation of the function is accomplished by using three types of expansions for the function. Best ranges of arguments are selected for each equation for particular precisions for efficiencies. The method is successfully applied to calculate higher-order derivatives of the current-potential curves in all potential ranges for a reversible electron transfer reaction coupled with a prior chemical equilibrium (i.e., a CE type process). Various parameters that characterize the peak asymmetry (such as ratios of peak-heights, ratios of half-peak-widths, and separations in peak-potentials) are analyzed to find how kinetic and thermodynamic parameters influence shapes of the derivatives. The results from the CE process is compared with those from an EC process in which a reversible electron transfer is coupled with a follow-up homogeneous chemical reaction. The two processes exibit quite contrasting differences for values of the parameters.

  • The infrastructure system in the United States has been aging faster than the resource available to restore them. Therefore decision for allocating the resources is based in part on the condition of the structural system. This paper proposes to use neural network to predict the overall rating of the structural system because of the successful applications of neural network to other fields which require a "symptom-diagnostic" type relationship. The goal of this paper is to illustrate the potential of using neural network in civil engineering applications and, particularly, in bridge evaluations. Data collected by the Tennessee Department of Transportation were used as "test bed" for the study. Multi-layer feed forward networks were developed using the Levenberg-Marquardt training algorithm. All the neural networks consisted of at least one hidden layer of neurons. Hyperbolic tangent transfer functions were used in the first hidden layer and log-sigmoid transfer functions were used in the subsequent hidden and output layers. The best performing neural network consisted of three hidden layers. This network contained three neurons in the first hidden layer, two neurons in the second hidden layer and one neuron in the third hidden layer. The neural network performed well based on a target error of 10%. The results of this study indicate that the potential for using neural networks for the evaluation of infrastructure systems is very good.

  • This study is analytical prototype and usability studies centering on game development for game major in university curriculum by the collaboration of professor and students. The study set up the assumption of successful game development throughout the school curriculum initialized by fifteen weeks of time period. In the previous study, we defined the responsibility of positional personnel, and possibilities of current game majored school from both USA and Korea. The study aimed to analyze the productional guideline for the game development courses by conducting a usability survey from the groups of potential participants.

Application of Cu-loaded One-dimensional TiO2 Nanorods for Elevated Photocatalytic Environmental Friendly Hydrogen Production

  • Photocatalytic green energy H2 production utilizing inexhaustible solar energy has been considered as a potential solution to problems of energy scarcity and environmental contamination. However, the design of a cost-effective photocatalyst using simple synthesis methodology is still a grand challenge. Herein, a low-cost transition metal, Cu-loaded one-dimensional TiO2 nanorods (Cu/TNR) were fabricated using an easy-to-use synthesis methodology for significant H2 production under simulated solar light. X-ray photoelectron spectral studies and electron microscopy measurements provide evidence to support the successful formation of the Cu/TNR catalyst under our experimental conditions. UV-vis DRS studies further demonstrate that introducing Cu on the surface of TNR substantially increases light absorption in the visible range. Notably, the Cu/TNR catalyst with optimum Cu content, achieved a remarkable H2 production with a yield of 39,239 µmol/g after 3 h of solar light illumination, representing 7.4- and 27.7-fold enhancements against TNR and commercial P25, respectively. The notably improved H2 evolution activity of the target Cu/TNR catalyst was primarily attributed to its excellent separation and efficiently hampered recombination of photoexcited electron-hole pairs. The Cu/TNR catalyst is, therefore, a potential candidate for photocatalytic green energy applications.

  • Despite skepticism about commercial potential, the stereoscopic 3D cinema is still a form that any filmmaker can choose to employ for its aesthetics and its immersive potential. Based on a haptic illusion, the stereoscopic media content requires a new perspective different from the principle of 2D media content in terms of creation and acceptance. This paper examines the technical and aesthetic issues of stereoscopic 3D film production from the perspective of today's emerging realistic and immersive media through a case study. One of the key factors for successful content creation and research and development in stereoscopic 3D cinema is the combination of artistic principles together with technical mastering of the new image technology. The purpose of this paper is to outline the principal challenges and research topics in stereoscopic 3D cinema through a case study of stereoscopic 3D pilot film production for the 'User-Selective UHD Stereoscopic Media Service Platform' of the ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute). This paper intends to examine stereoscopic 3D filmmaking workflow and production methodologies, as well as technical elements and aesthetic issues.

Detection of Nearest Points without Obstacle Segmentation using Active Min-Depth Filter (Active Min-Depth Filter를 이용한 비분할 장애물 최근접 점 검출)

  • In autonomous robots, obstacle avoidance is a key feature. Potential Field is the most widely used method in this field. Such method requires real-time calculation of the nearest point of the obstacle from the robot, which involves difficulty of reliably segmenting the obstacle region from the distance sensor data profile. In this paper, Active Min-Depth Filter is introduced to obtain the nearest point of each obstacle using real-time calculation but without segmentation. Through simulations on various sensor noise environments, the robustness of the Active Min-Depth Filter could be confirmed, and successful results were obtained by applying real-world moving robots.
