This paper is the analysis of the relationship between RQD and decay constant, blasting vi bration constant of cube root scaling and square root scaling, through experimental blast ins test in subway construction for excavation of shaft hole by bottom blasting. The magnitude of particle velocity is largely effected by the distance from blasting source, the maximum charge per delay and the properties of ground. In order to verify the effects of ground properties on blast-induced vibration, the relation-ship between magnitude of blasting vibration and Rock Quality Disignation which stands for joint property was studied. The results of test are verified that blasting vibration constant "K" and the absolute value("n") of decay constant relatively increse as RQD increased. According to the result, it can be predict the particle velocity by the blast -induced vibration in bottom blasting pattern.om blasting pattern.
In this study, the blast-induced vibration effects on the structural stability of the adjacent tunnel were estimated with respect to the allowable peak particle velocity (PPV). The blasting distance from the tunnel satisfying the allowable PPV was estimated based on the analytical solutions, United States Bureau of Mines (USBM) suggestions, and the equations used in the subway in Seoul. The allowable blasting distance was estimated by using finite difference analysis (FDA) and the behavior of the concrete lining and rock bolts was examined and the stability of those was estimated during the blast. Research results show that the blast-induced vibration effects on the structural stability are negligible for the concrete lining but relatively large for the rock bolts.

Objectives: Exposure to fine particles in urban air has been associated with a number of negative health effects. High levels of fine particles have been detected at underground stations in big cities. We investigated the exposure conditions in four occupational groups in the Stockholm underground train system to identify high-exposed groups and study variations in exposure. Methods: $PM_1$ and $PM_{2.5}$ were measured during three full work shifts on 44 underground workers. Fluctuations in exposure were monitored by a real-time particle monitoring instrument, pDR, DataRAM. Qualitative analysis of particle content was performed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Nitrogen dioxide was measured using passive monitors. Results: For all underground workers, the geometric mean (GM) of $PM_1$ was $18{\mu}g/m^3$ and of $PM_{2.5}$ was $37{\mu}g/m^3$. The particle exposure was highest for cleaners/platform workers, and the GM of $PM_1$ was $31.6{\mu}g/m^3$ [geometric standard deviation (GSD), 1.6] and of $PM_{2.5}$ was $76.5{\mu}g/m^3$ (GSD, 1.3); the particle exposure was lowest for ticket sellers, and the GM of $PM_1$ was $4.9{\mu}g/m^3$ (GSD, 2.1) and of $PM_{2.5}$ was $9.3{\mu}g/m^3$ (GSD, 1.5). The $PM_1$ and $PM_{2.5}$ levels were five times higher in the underground system than at the street level, and the particles in the underground had high iron content. The train driver's nitrogen dioxide exposure level was $64.1{\mu}g/m^3$ (GSD, 1.5). Conclusions: Cleaners and other platform workers were statistically significantly more exposed to particles than train drivers or ticket sellers. Particle concentrations ($PM_{2.5}$) in the Stockholm underground system were within the same range as in the New York underground system but were much lower than in several older underground systems around the world.
The excavation works for deep foundation in urban areas have recently increased complaints of blasting vibration and settlement of ground level. Foundation must be excavated approximately up to 24-28m depths from the surface. The roads and subway line pass through the excavation area. The Dae-chung station is also located at the nearest distance 5-35m from the working site. To protect subway station and adjacient some structures from blasting and settlement, the level of ground vibration, displacements and stress were monitored and analyzed. The results can be summarized as follows ; 1. An empirical particle velocity equation were obtained by test blasts at Nassan Missi 860 Office tel construction site. $V{\;}={\;}K(D/\sqrt{W})^{-n}$, where the values for n and k are estimated tobe 0.371 and 1.551. From this ground vibration equation, the max. charge weight per delay time against distance from blasting point is calculated. Detailed blasting method is also presented. 2. To measure the horizontal displacement in directions perpendicular to the borehole axis, 6 inclinometers installed around working sites. The displacement at the begining was comparatively high because the installation of struts was delayed, but after its installation the values showed a stable trend. Among them, the displacement by 3 inclinometers installed on a temporary parking area showed comparatively high values, for example, the displacement measured at hole No. IC-l recoded the max. 47.04mm for 6 months and at hole No. IC-2 recorded the max. 57.33mm for 7 months. So, all of these data was estimated below a safe standard value 103mm. 3. Seven strain gauge meter was installed of measure the magnitude and change of stress acted on structs. The measured value of maximum stress was $-465{\;}kgf/\textrm{cm}^2,{\;}-338.4{\;}kgf/\textrm{cm}^2,{\;}302.3{\;}kgf/\textrm{cm}^2$ respectively. In compareto the allowable stress level of steel, they are estimated to be safe.
Recently, passengers using public transport are concerned about the effects of COVID-19 and fine dust. Therefore, from February 2020 to February 2021, we investigated whether SARS-CoV-2 RNA was detected even after disinfection in 55 public transportation places visited by confirmed patients in Seoul. 34 air samples and 702 object surface samples were collected and tested with RT-PCR, one surface sample was positive. In addition, preemptive investigations were conducted in 22 subway trains that passengers were being on board at that time. 1,018 preemptive tests were performed, and all were negative. Although PM-2.5 is dangerous in itself, it can be a potential carrier of viruses. It seemed that a solution was needed as one line continuously exceeded the criteria of PM-2.5. Through this study, it is judged that cluster infection in public transportation can be prevented if efforts to reduce the concentration of fine dust, appropriate disinfection management, and personal disinfection such as wearing a mask in public transportations.

Since operation of railway trains is a major source of particle pollution in tunnel air, a particle removal device can be an effective measure to remove wear particles. To obtain design conditions of the particle removal device that will be installed underneath the railway trains, the wind speed and particle concentration underneath the trains were investigated using a three-dimensional ultrasonic anemometer and a DustTrak aerosol monitor, respectively. The measurements were made for the trains running on Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 5 on February 10, 2015. The data were analyzed according to the track geometry (straight, curved) and train speed pattern (acceleration, cruising, and deceleration) between stations. Train speed was also analyzed. The average wind speed and $PM_{10}$ concentration underneath the trains were ~30% of the train speed and ${\sim}200{\mu}g/m^3$ for both straight and curved sections. Average $PM_{10}$ concentration for deceleration sections was higher than that for acceleration sections.

The blast vibrations were measured from 10 places through Seoul subway area to study their effects on the structures and to establish the safe blasting limits. For purpose of the present study, particle velocity only was recorded and analyzed, because it correlated most directly with damage. The results are as follows: (1) The proagation equation, $V=K(D/W^{1/3})^{-n}$ was obtained. Typical values could be found for n range from 1.7 to 1.5 and for k range from 48 to 138. (2) From the relationship between schmidt hammer rebound hardness and uniaxial compressive strength, $Sc=0.514{\times}(S.H)^{0.23}$, the compressive strength at any area can be assumed. (3) The use of AN-FO and other explosives with low detonation pressure may reduce vibration levels generated.

A new dust cleaning vehicle is needed to remove fine and ultra-fine particulate matter in subway tunnels. Therefore, the recently developed tunnel cleaning vehicle is equipped with an efficient suction system and cyclone-based prefilter to handle ultra-fine particles. To treat various sizes of particulate matter with an underbody suction system, this paper proposes a cyclone-based prefilter in the suction system and validates the dust removal efficiency through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis using ANSYS FLUENT. Using the created surface and volume mesh, various particle sizes, materials, and fan flow rates, the particles were tracked in the flow with a discrete phase model. As a result, the dust cleaning vehicle at a normal operational speed of 5km/h requires at least a fan flow rate of $1500m^3/min$ and 100mm of suction inlet height from the tunnel track floor. Those suction modules and cyclone-based prefilters in the dust cleaning vehicle reduces the dust accumulation load of the electric precipitator and helps remove the accumulated fine and ultra-fine dust in the subway tunnel.
In December 2006, the Ministry of Environment Republic of Korea established the guideline which is "Indoor Air Quality Management Guidelines in Public Transportation." as control items, $CO_2$ (carbon dioxide) and PM10 (particle matter) are classified two categories, that is, Level 1 (non-rush hour), Level 2 (rush hour). Therefore, the quality of air in train and subway should be controlled in accordance with the guideline. We took a measure the air freshness inside train twice at Line 4 (Tangogae-Oido), in Sep. 2007 and at Line 1 (Dongincheon-Yongsan) in Nov. 2007, respectively and, also expected the emitted $CO_2$ concentration by using a property of matter such as EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) design reviewing specification and air. According to the measured values, the concentration of PM10 was 44, 57, 45% and the concentration of $CO_2$ was 39, 36, 44% respectively, all measured values are within the guideline and also, as a result we found the expected value and measured value are similar.

The performance of track cleaning trains to remove accumulated fine particulate matter in subway tunnels depends on the design of the suction system equipped under the train. To increase the efficiency of the suction system under the cleaning vehicle, this paper proposes a novel dust suction module equipped with both air blowing nozzles and a dust suction structure. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis with turbulent flow was conducted to optimize the dust suction system with a particle intake and blowing function. The optimal angle of the air blowing nozzle to maximize the dust removal rate was found to be 6 degrees. The performance of the track cleaning vehicle can be increased by at least 10 percent under an operation speed of 5km/h.
