Nowadays, it is expected that mobility loads such as electric railways and electric vehicles will be penetrated gradually and affect on the power system stability by their load characteristics. Various researches have been carried out about electric vehicles for the recent decade though the load of electric railway could be forecasted because of the specified path and timetable, is a field with a long historic background. Some precise 5th polynomial equations are required to analyze the power system stability considering mobility load to be increased in the immediate future while the electric railway dispatching simulator uses load models with constant power and constant impedance for the system analysis. In this paper, seasonal urban railway load models are established as the form of 5th polynomial equations and substation load modeling methods are proposed merging railway station load models and general load models. Additionally, load management effects by the load modeling are confirmed through the case studies, in which seasonal load models are developed for Seoul Subway Line No. 2, Gyeongui Line and Airport Railroad and the substation load change is analyzed according to the railway load change.
In the present study, the wind pressure transients on platform screen door in side platforms caused by passing trains have been investigated numerically. The transient compressible 3-D full Navier-Stokes solution is obtained with actual operational condition of subway train and the moving mesh technique is adopted considering the train movement. To achieve more accurate analysis, the entrance and exit tunnel of platform are included in a computational domain and detailed shape of train is also modeled Numerical analyses were conducted on five operational condition which are different velocity variation of subway train, existence of stationary train and passing each other trains. The results show that pressure load on platform screen door is maximized when the two trains are passing each other. It is also seen from the computational results that the maximum pressure variation was found to be satisfactory to various foreign standards.
In this study a conventional rubber mount and a new form of base isolator made of steel spring coated with natural and articial rubber were manufactured and tested on a shaking table to investigate the capacity of reducing the vertical vibration of a building induced by subway train. The model structure used in the test is a 1/4 scaled steel structure, and a white noise input and train vibration records were used to check the effectiveness of the isolators. According to the results all three types of isolators turned out to perform effectively in reducing the acceleration and the natural rubber-coated one is ranked best among the isolators. However the vertical displacement of the model is increased due to the instolation of the bearings, and the safty against the lateral load induced by earthquake ground motion should be provided to be able to apply the system to the real buildings.
Recently, the expansion of social infrastructures and urban redevelopment, the construction works have been a rapidly increase. The subway's noise and vibration are on a continuously increasing status in its importance as by the industrial and cultural development process. Nevertheless, in our country, adequate alternative idea for the construction noise and vibration are not yet established. In this point, the purpose of this study is to know the vibration effect to the structure. This study was used to determine the standard of vibration and the way of losing vibration. The case of construction site is a good example. The data of this study was obtained by a construction company in Korea. Vibration effect could cause structural problems and affect human mental state. The results of this study are as follows; check the vibrating point, determine the suitable limit of vibration, make a good plan and construction.
This paper is to introduce a more effective and flexible restoration algorithm composed to the fault preventing and restoring system now in use. This was possible by considering the changes that can occur by the proper or the improper run of the Feeder, which the power system restoration method now using didn't consider. The new algorithm uses the method minimizing the loss with respect to the load changes occuring when the power system is restored, rather than just simply following the SOP that is only composed of a single Feeder On/off combination. This can present the more effective power system running method for the safer subway running and passenger transport, by giving the system operator the chance to choose between the SOP and the minimum loss method.
The occurrence rate of the earthquake more than magnitude 5 has been increased since 1990 and the damage of the Odaesan earthquake, 2007 was serious. Due to that, one may say that Korea is not any more safe for the earthquake. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare strategies for possible damage due to strong earthquakes in future. This study is to focus to develop the retrofitting system for the cut and cuver tunnels built without earthquake type load scenario, so that it can provide the safety of existing urban subway system against earthquakes.
A brief review of the research works on ground vibrations caused by trains moving in underground tunnels is first given. Then, the finite/infinite element approach for simulating the soil-tunnel interaction system with semi-infinite domain is summarized. The tunnel is assumed to be embedded in a homogeneous half-space or stratified soil medium. The train moving underground is modeled as an infinite harmonic line load. Factors considered in the parametric studies include the soil stratum depth, damping ratio and shear modulus of the soil with or without tunnel, and the thickness of the tunnel lining. As far as ground vibration is concerned, the existence of a concrete tunnel may somewhat compensate for the loss due to excavation of the tunnel. For a soil stratum resting on a bedrock, the resonance peak and frequency of the ground vibrations caused by the underground load can be rather accurately predicted by ignoring the existence of the tunnel. Other important findings drawn from the parametric studies are given in the conclusion.
The structure of railroad or subway is that low fare transportation system of the large traffic volume. Like this structure is subjected to the cyclic load of moving vehicle. Consequently the result of the settlement analysis or plastic deformation prediction of railroad bed could be used as an important factor in safety of the railroad. The results of cyclic triaxial test were used in the numerical analysis of power model which Li and Selig(1994) developed. The soil samples were obtained from the construction site of railroad. Cyclic triaxial test was conducted with the variation of the magnitude of cyclic load and soil types. The large magnitude of plastic deformation in the railroad bed is caused of structure failure of the railroad.
Recently the design specification has been advanced with preventing earthquake disaster in Korea because of increasing occurrence of large size earthquake. A composite plate with ductile fiber is proposed, which can enhance the performance of built tunnel in both strength and ductility. This study is to focus to verify the effect of strengthening of existing tunnels which is built without earthquake type load scenario, so that it can provide the safety of existing urban subway system against earthquakes.
