지중 환경의 정의에 대한 정책적 고찰 (A Study on Definition of Subsurface Environment in Korea)

  • Many improper development action were performed at subsurface environment, because there were not any definition about subsurface environment in Korea. The purpose of this study was to establich a definition on subsurface environment. Subsurface environment could be divided by subsurface natural environment and subsurface living environment. The soil, groundwater, ecosystems, landscapes, underground space (naturally occurred) were included in subsurface natural environment. And space and facilities used by human were classified as subsurface living environment.

  • Many legislations have been implemented in order to manage the subsurface environment in Korea. However, there was no control tools for managing subsurface environment so effectively. In this study, many laws and regulations were analyzed for extracting Korean subsurface environment management plan. Korean government need to 1) establish the basic paradigm for building the subsurface space, 2) establish the clear subsurface environment management systems, 3) establish the regulations related with subsurface space compensation, 4) prepare the human health and ecosystem related legislations.

국내 농업용 지하댐의 현황 및 활용 사례 (Current Status and Application of Agricultural Subsurface Dams in Korea)

  • The increasing frequency of droughts has been increasing the necessity of utilizing subsurface dams as reliable groundwater resources in areas where it is difficult to supply adequate agricultural water using only surface water. In this study, we analyzed the current status and actual conditions of five agricultural subsurface dams as well as the effect of obtaining additional groundwater from subsurface dams operated as one aspect of the sustainable integrated water management system. Based on the construction methods and functions of each subsurface dam, the five subsurface dams are classified into three types such as those that derive water from rivers, those that prevent seawater intrusion, and those that link to a main irrigation canal. The classification is based on various conditions including topography, reservoir location, irrigation facilities, and river and alluvial deposit distributions. Agricultural groundwater upstream of subsurface dams is obtained from four to five radial collector wells. From the study, the total amount of groundwater recovered from the subsurface dam is turned out to be about 29~44% of the total irrigation water demand, which is higher than that of general agricultural groundwater of about 4.6%.

  • Climate change has often resulted in severe droughts in a rice-farming season (i.e., April to June), and the large amount of water resources were needed to cope with droughts during the season. Therefore, the subsurface dam, which is able to store groundwater resources in the alluvium aquifer, has been considered to be an alternative for securing more groundwater resources. In this study, suitable sites assessment criteria for agricultural subsurface dam using analytic hierarchy process (AHP) were established for adequate drought management. Moreover, the criteria were applied to the existing five agricultural subsurface dams to verify their applicability of groundwater supply for each subsurface dam. The assessment criteria were divided into three major categories (geology, hydrology and business condition) and classified to 12 individual sub-categories with weighting. From the assessment, Ian subsurface dam and Wooil subsurface dam were identified as the best and the worst suitable site, respectively, and this result was in accordance with the average amount of annual groundwater supply by each subsurface dam during the period of 2011-2017.

The Subsurface Stress Field Caused by Both Normal Loading and Tangential Loading

  • The subsurface stress field caused by both normal loads and tangential loads has been evaluated using the rectangular patch solution. The effect of tangential loading on the subsurface stress field has been investigated in detail for both the cylinder-on-cylinder contact and a spur gear teeth contact. For the cylinder-on-cylinder contact, the subsurface stress fields are moved more to the direction of tangential loads and the positions where the maximum stress occur are getting closer to the surface with the increasing tangential loads. The subsurface stress fields of the gear teeth contact are expanded more widely to the direction of tangential loads with the increasing tangential loads. The friction coefficient of a gear teeth contact is low because they are operated in a lubricated condition, and therefore surface tractions in the EHL condition hardly affect on the subsurface stress field.

  • The effect of tangential loading on the subsurface stress field has been investigated numerically. As tangential load increases, the subsurface stress field expands more widely to the direction of the tangential load. Places of the maximum shear stress and the maximum effective stress are getting closer to the surface with the increasing tangential load. The tangential load in an elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication condition is so low that it does not affect the subsurface stress field.

원통형 펌프 흡입정 벽면에서 발생하는 수중 보텍스 제어 (Control of Subsurface Vortex on Cylindrical Sump Wall)

  • The subsurface vortex - which occurs inside the cylindrical sump - was visualized through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and experiment. The analysis of subsurface vortex inside the cylindrical sump was already carried out using CFD techniques by the first author. To understand the subsurface vortex more clearly, an experimental analysis was carried out with a 1/5th scale model; and the flow rate was calculated according to the similarity law. The experimental results of vortex visualization matches well with the CFD results. The surface roughness model and Anti Vortex Device (AVD) model have been investigated to control the subsurface vortex. For the case of average surface roughness of 1mm and 5mm, the subsurface vortex appears and the vorticity is higher when compared to that of a smooth surface condition. However, for the AVD model, the subsurface vortex is completely removed and the internal flow is stabilized.

  • 고탄소 Dr-Ti 합금강의 회전접촉 피로마모실험에서 실험조건에 따라 다르게 변화하는 subsurface zone의 가공경와의 정도를 잔류응력의 분포로서 조사하였다. 시험전 표면잔류응력은 마모특성에 영향을 주지 못하였고, 접촉응력과 회전속도가 증가할수록 표면 잔류응력은 감소하여 갔으나 subsurface zone내의 최대압축잔류응력은 증가하였고, 그의 포화깊이는 깊었다. 이들 실험결과와 이론적 전단응력의 분포와의 관계에 관하여 검토하였다.

Finite Element Analysis of the Inclined Subsurface Cracks in a Homogeneous Body Under a Moving Compressive Load

  • The inclined subsurface cracks in a homogeneous body subjected to a moving compressive load is analyzed with the finite element method (FEM) considering friction on the crack surface. The stress intensity factors for the inclined subsurface cracks are evaluated numerically for various cases such as different inclined angles and changes in the coefficient of friction. The effects of the inclined angle and the coefficient of friction on the stress intensity factor are discussed. The difference between the behaviors of the parallel subsurface crack and those of the inclined subsurface crack is also examined.

  • 지하수와 지표수를 연계하여 flow와 transport를 모의하는 프로그램인 HydroSphere를 Canada Ontario주의 Canadian Forces Base Borden에서의 실험 (Abdul ,1985) 자료를 이용하여 평가해 보았고, 유성지역 소유역에서의 강수, 지표수, 지하수의 수소동위원소 모니터링 (박준형, 고용권, 박경우, 정형재, 김교원, 2003) 자료를 이용하여 평가해 볼 예정이다.
