  • Textile wet-processing industry usually five rise to environmental pollution problems caused by using chemical substance. The objective of this study is to apply enzymes for wool and reduce the environmental problems. Three commercial protein degradation enzymes and a cellulose degradation enzyme as a reference were treated to prevent the shrinkage of wool fabric on laundering. Shrink resistant effects used change with the kinds of enzyme, the amount of enzyme, assistant chemicals, and the pre-treatment condition of wool fabric. When pre-treated with corona before enzyme treatment under ultrasonic condition, the weight loss was increased and strength was decreased and elongation was increased. Both corona pre-treatment and the addition of $Na_2SO_4$ also decreased shrinkage of wool fabrics on laundering. The existence of assistant chemicals increased alkali solubility of wool fabrics.

  • Objective : This study was designed to show the possible functional groups from the herb medicine in boiling water. Results : The results are summarized as follows: 1. the new functional groups can be synthesized in water solution for herb medicine. 2. The boiling water solution may change the poison materials into harmless materials. 3. The multiplication, the offset, the contradiction, etc. in terms of mixed herb medicine can be explainable by these reactions. 4. After finding the new medicinal substances for the specific disease, we can synthesize, modify, and mass produce those for that disease.

  • The light has been considered as a main character that can not be omitted in architecture since ancient time. The recognition of space by light means that light makes the fictional space recognizable concretization. Light and shade make emptiness and substance can be easily recognized. Also reiteration and location of light and shade change the degree of acknowledgement. The character of light can strengthen or weaken the power of recognition concerning territory, direction and location. Also it can broaden, close, and segregate the domain and eventually strengthen recognition. In this study, I will try to find how space can be recognized with the help of light in architectural territories in terms of actual states. Also the main aim of my study will be the study of the light application in real space with the architectural example of space recognition by light and possible opportunity of it in space plan.

  • Thermo-regulated textiles have been attracted more attention in medical textile application areas. Phase change materials, namely PCM, are substance with a high hear of fusion and can absorb a lot of energy before melting, which make the temperature remain constant during the phase changes. Herein, using nylon fibers having different PCM content were dyed and characterized to determine the coloration properties with PCM content ratio. The corresponding findings were discussed.

  • The article makes a discussion to conceptualize a histo-genetic principle in the real historical view point. The classical histo-genetic principle appeared in 19th century was founded by the recapitulation law suggested by biologist Haeckel, but recently it was shown that the theory on it is no longer true. To establish the alternative rationale, several metaphoric characterizations from the history of mathematics are suggested: among them, problem solving, transition of conceptual knowledge to procedural knowledge, generalization, abstraction, circulation from phenomenon to substance, encapsulation to algebraic representation, change of epistemological view, formation of algorithm, conjecture-proof-refutation, swing between theory and application, and so on.

  • The level of oxidative tissue damage caused by free radicals generated from ethanol oxidation was determined in the myocardium of chronic ethanol fed-rats and the protective action of various radical scavenging enzymes was monitored, also. Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were given ethanol in an amount of 36% of total calories via Lieber-DeCarli liquid diet for 6 weeks. Control group was pair-fed with the diet containing isocaloric amount of dextrin-maltose instead of ethanol. Chronic ethanol administration resulted in the increased amount of myocardial thiobarbituric acid reactive substance(TBARS), th parameter of lipid peroxidation, under our experimental condition. Chronic ethanol ingestion did not cause any change in activities of either glutathione peroxidase or glutathione reductase and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase were decreased after ethanol treatment. Therefore, chronic ethanol administration seemed to cause considerble changes in cellular defense function against oxidative tissue damage in rat myocardium through glutathione utilizing system and radical generation system. However the ultimate net result of chronic ethanol inestion on the myocardium of rat was the oxidative tissue damage revealed by increased TBARS content.

  • Urine NMR analyses made by use of an 80 MHz proton NMR spectrometer show that aromatic proton NMR signals appear in most censer patients'urine. On the assumption that the signals may be caused by the phenolic compound of tyrosine excreted in the urine, a jellied reagent is used for identifying them by observing the urine color reaction. It is observed that the reagent reacted to the cancer urine becomes red. Such a change of the urine color seems to indicate the substance of tyrosine. Recently an attempt to determine the reagent sensitivity an specificity of the urine of 69 persons including cancer and noncancer patients has been made. The results of the attempt are respectively 85.3% for sensitivity and 91.4% for specificity. This seems to show a possibility that the reagent can be used for the diagnosis.

  • Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs) have been used for the applications of the hydraulic containment system in landfill due to inexpensive costs, simple workability and distinguished ability as a barrier material. However, bentonite of GCLs is easy to be damaged by the chemical solutions. Thus, there is a need to evaluate the potential susceptibility of GCLs causing Increase the hydraulic conductivity when GCLs are exposed to raw leachate and dissolved humic substances from landfill leachate. The hydraulic conductivity tests were performed with flexible-wall permeameter (the falling -headwater/rising -tailwater procedure) in order to verify the potential susceptibility of GCLs. The values of the hydraulic conductivity conducted with raw leachate as a permeant liquid increased considerably; however, The change of the hydraulic conductivity in the case of humic and fulvic acid were not worthy of notice. As the results of swelling tests of bentonite, however, humic substances can affect badly on the dispersion behavior of bentonite. These results indicate that humic substances dissolved in leachate could reduce the hydraulic conductivity of GCLs in landfill.

  • This study lays emphasis on the traditional houses of Hongsung, Poryoung which were hardly studied. The method of investigation is to grasp the type, the present condition, and the feature of the traditional houses through sample survey. This study lays emphasis on two myon of Hongsung, Poryoung retaining their original form relatively through sample survey. The houses of investigation subject involve the houses in which structure change is not big of repair and improved houses centering around houses confirmed things built in late-Chosun. The method of investigation is to consider survey, materials for research work, and literature and is to grasp the substance of houses through analysis of arrangement, plane, and structure.
